Security Home Inspections

I found out that I had a water leak under the slab that my home was built on. The plumbing contractor suggested that I have an Inspection Co. try to Thermo Image the area and see if they find the leak. Keith from Security Home Inspections came to my home and tried to locate the leak with Thermo Imaging. He was unable to find the leak with the Thermo gun however he did study the situation and did some further investigating and told me where he thought the leak was. As it turned out he was right on the money. He did not charge me for the call since he couldn't pinpoint the leak with his Thermo Imaging equipment. Keith was very professional. He also asked me to follow up with him as to exactly what I found when the leak was repaired. This company was great to work with and I would definately use them again.

The experience with Security Home Inspections was fantastic from start to finish. From the informative and friendly call to set up the appointment to the thorough inspection that Steve provided, it was a great experience. Steve took the time to show me things around the house that I should keep an eye out for and that would show up in the report. I feel very comfortable with the condition of my future home. Steve said an emailed report would be in my email the next day and it was there by 10am the next morning. Overall this was a great experience. The price appears to be a bit higher than some of the other companies but our home was a 4800 sq ft space and the price is based upon total square footage. The higher price was worth the peace of mind. Great company and we will use again and recommend to friends.

Wonderful company; great advice; easy to deal with.

We liked using them, as they were detail oriented. We had used other inspectors in the past, who didn?t inspect properly, but charged us a lot. We were able find little things which were a problem and had them fixed. They were thorough, professional and explained well. They were reasonably priced. We will use their services in the future.

The inspector was very thorough and very kind. He encouraged me to be as involved as i wanted, and explained everything as he made notes. He also took the extra time to give me a list of things to approach first once i took ownership of the home.

We are pretty satisfied with the whole experience, they are professional, we were there when they did the inspection, for each problem, they gave us the estimated price to fix it and what is the result if not fixed, we are pretty new to house maintainance, so their advices were very helpful. The house is a resale, 2nd owner. They found out that the living room roof is lack of insulation, which the owner didnt even know about it after living in it for a couple of years. Apparently, we had better inspector than they did. At last, they helped us to figure out which items need to be fixed ASAP and we asked the seller to do so. And the house is ready for us to move in. I highly recommed Security home inspection, plus their price is lower than other quotes we got.

Fantastic. This group was professional and helpful from the very first moment that I called. We were considering purchasing an older (1979) home that was built into a hill and had a variety of other issues. Two inspectors (Phil, the owner, and Steve) arrived on time and performed a full inspection while also giving tutorials along the way for the various aspects of the home. The water had been erroneously turned off by the realty company, so Phil turned it on in order to perform the plumbing inspection. A detailed report, with photos, was provided in a timely manner. On short notice (<24 hours), they were able to return to the house for a re-inspection, to ensure that all of the "promised" repairs had been fixed appropriately. Many of them were not... This re-inspection cost us $125 but was money well spent. A home is a large, lifetime investment and $125 for this level of scrutiny is a minor additional investment for a home purchase. Steve conducted the re-inspection and provided his report within a few hours. He has a wonderful affect - professional but also an excellent listener and supremely patient with our questions and concerns. SHI cost a bit more (about $50) than Cornerstone, which we used for the inspection of a home we purchased 3 yrs ago, but the slightly higher rate was worth every penny. I would definitely hire this group again. Even the office staff (Brandy) was superb throughout the transaction. A++.

We were very dissatisfied with the quality of service from Security Home Inspections. Within a week of moving into our new home, we discovered that the refrigerator had a leak, the garage door sensor was broken, the dishwasher didn't drain properly, and some other obvious problems had been overlooked. None of these problems were properly noted in the inspection report. These problems cost us hundreds of dollars. A few weeks later, a security technician told us that our fire alarms were not up to code. Apparently, the fire alarms are wired to the lights, so that when we turn off the lights, we turn off the power to the alarms. The security technician was amazed that this obvious violation wasn't caught by our home inspector. We understand that a home inspection isn't designed to detect every conceivable problem, but we were extremely disappointed that so many obvious errors were overlooked, particularly ones involving our safety. When we complained, Security Home Inspections gave us the back of their hand. We'll never use them again and urge anyone considering them to exercise caution.

They came and gave me an estimate. They inspected the house and e-mailed me the report. They were very thorough, detailed and professional. Their customer service was very good and they were easy to work with.

We requested a limited mechanical and roof inspection. The inspector showed up on time. He was courteous, experienced, efficient and very responsive to our questions and concerns.

Inspector John Burns came highly recommended and he did a good, quick and professional job. The subsequent report was delivered in a timely fashion and John responded quickly to my follow-up questions.

We were considering selling our home and had a home inspection done to give us time to fix any problems. The inspector checked the entire house and noted areas of concern. We were very concerned about one particular item, but he never mentioned it and we thought it was quite obvious; however, he did point out a few minor things to correct. A few days after the inspection we were sent a report by email that included pictures with his findings.

My wife and I are buying a home on the northwest side of Indianapolis. We hired Security Home Inspections to perform our home inspection. The inspector was very punctual and thorough. He took pictures of all potential problems and those pictures were incorporated into the inspection report to help clarify that report. The morning of the inspection was cool, so we could not test the A/C. However, someone from the company later went back and tested the A/C before the report was given to us. They also tested the home for mold. The inspection was on a Saturday and we received the report on Monday in an email. After the sellers had certain repairs made, we asked the company to reinspect the work. This was a separate fee ($125). The re-inspection was performed promptly. The inspector called me immediately after the re-inspection to give me his report orally and his re-inspection report was emailed to us the next day. Overall, everyone we dealt with from the company was courteous and helpful. They were prompt with their responses to our questions and with providing us with our reports. The inspector was very thorough and complete and explained issues he noticed during the course of the inspection. I would definitely use this company in the future and would recommend it to others.

Phil had to come back to re-inspect several times after the sellers failed to make adequate repairs and disputed his report. He was very helpful. He spoke with their Realtor and the sellers directly. He had to make so many visits that I felt badly for him. After buying the house, he has continued to be available to answer our questions and solve little mysteries with our house. He's the best. If you're planning to sell, have him do a pre-sale inspection so you don't have any nasty surprises which slow down your sale, which is what happened to our sellers.

Very good overall. I was not able to attend the inspection due to being out of state. However, comments and pictures provided a clear illustration of potential issues. Very easy appointment setup and prompt service. They came out and reinspected attic at seller's expense because during the first inspection the attic was not accessible. Price may have been a little high, but their work was guaranteed for 30 days I think. Some issues were easily resolved by builder who lived in neighborhood explaining how he built the house. Perhaps inspector should have been more up to date on new building methods. However, the issues were relatively minor and did not subtract from my overall view of their service.

John Burnes stopped by and checked on things. He did not charge me for the inspection. He was very nice and I have recommended him to other people.

My Fiance and I found a 90 year old Duplex in Woodruff Place that we fell in love with. Their had been obvious neglect over the years and we needed to know what we were looking at. My real estate agent recommended Security Home Inspections so I called them. The girl that scheduled the appointment, Jennifer I believe, was very professional and nice, great voice. Dan Cronin was our inspector and he was extremely thorough & professional. I came into the home and the dishwasher was running, I was puzzled and then realized he was testing all my appliances - and even noted a problem with the dishwasher in the tenants side. I am not sure how long he was there but it was quite awhile - we were there for over an hour and when we left he said he was only half done. When we got the report it put so much at ease for me - not because nothing was wrong with the home, because I knew there was plenty that needed attention, but because he was so detailed in saying this is what's wrong here, here and here. The report was 24 pages, including 28 pictures. That's right 28 photos. Dan clearly noted corresponding photos with issues he noted. Dan as well noted things that needed further looking into - for example we needed a structural engineer to look at our brick foundation. When my agent and I had a question about something Dan reported, Dan quickly got back to us and answered our question. We bought the house and we couldn't be happier with it, security home inspection, and Dan Cronin.

Mr. Corlette spent more than 3 hours performing the inspection. My husband was with him most of the time and said he could not have been more thorough or pleasant to work with! He gave my husband lots of information concerning our soon-to-be house, and lots of good tips and suggestions. We could not have been more pleased with the service.

They responded within a couple of days of my call. Agent was knowledgeable and friendly. Report was emailed to me the next day. Very concise, and complete report. The insurance company was pleased, and I was impressed with their professionalism. They were running a bit late on the day of my appointment, and they called ahead to let me know. They apologized for being late. The report looked well assembled and contained all the photos and infrared scans needed. I was able forward the report electronically to my insurance adjuster. Very convenient! I would use Security again.

Service was excellent. The inspector arrived early and had also sent a rep. out before the day of our inspection to leave the radon test and take a water sample. We found that there was a problem with the septic system and he explained in detail (and in layman's terms) about the problem. He guessed that the problem was an electrical issue. When the sellers had it checked out, they found that this was indeed the case (although we had not told them what we suspected). The inspector was right on and did a very thorough job. We had to call him on several occasions, and he was very patient and helpful. I would highly recommend using them. This is an area I would absolutely not skimp on. It saved us the anguish of having to find out about and deal with a septic system that was not functioning properly.

The experience was great. Chuck Debow was very thorough in his inspection and encouraged me to follow along so that he could explain various things to me in detail. He was very helpful in pointing out items and explaining things that were unfamiliar to me (heat pumps, etc.). He was also helpful in suggesting fixes, or changes that aren't necessary now, but will be in the future.
