Radon in your homes air is usually found during a real estate transaction. The prospective buyers often test for radon gas at the time of their home inspection. The USEPA recommends that homes with levels above 4.0 pCi/l be mitigated. Elevated radon levels are not a reason not to purchase a home that you otherwise like. Radon mitigation is a 1 day repair and is reasonably priced. Many simple systems cost around $900.00 and the radon levels are guaranteed to be below the EPA action limit of 4.0 pCi/l.
He did a great job. He was very punctual, professional and neat. I would recommend him to friends and family.

Tim was punctual, responsive, and flexible from the time I first asked for an estimate, which he gave me over the phone and via e-mail, through the end of the radon test period after the system was installed. He answered each of my questions thoroughly and patiently. He worked to find a solution so we could install the system without having a large, unsightly plastic pipe visible from the curb--he drilled a hole in the basement floor to tap into the drainage system and ran the pipe up through the garage and out the garage roof so that it can only be seen from inside the garage and from a small section of our sideyard. He charge us a little extra for this extra work, but it was well worth the money. And, our radon levels dropped from over 10 to under 1.

Great. When the initial installation process did NOT result in an acceptable radon reading, Tim had to come back to perform additional work. He was responsive and it did not cost me an additional amount.
Description of Work: Radon Eradication (don't know if that is the correct word). He installed the fan and electrical fuse and did additional follow-up to make sure that the radon levels were well withing the acceptable range.

After finding out we needed to remediate excessive amounts of radon in our home, we called Radon Technology, Inc., and left a message for Mr. Hinojosa, explaining we needed radon removed from our home. He called back the same day and explained completely in terms easy to understand what he had to do to fix the problem, how long it would take to do the job, the cost, and when he could do it. We hired him and he faxed us the contract which we signed and returned. He came on the agreed upon day & time, put the venting pipes in the crawl space, ran them up through the garage, out the roof and finished with a covered vent pipe on the roof. In the garage he put a small motor which removed the radon gas from the crawl space and environs. Finally, he placed a testing machine in the house and, after two days, came back to see what the reading of radon levels was. It had reduced from 8 to under 1! A truly significant improvement. He guaranteed his work and product, saying even the new owner of the house could call him with any future questions about the system. We were VERY pleased with his work, approach, and product.
Description of Work: Our home's radon test showed an excessive amount of radon. Mr. Hinojosa , owner of Radon Technology, Inc., explained in clear detail what needed to be done to remediate the problem, the cost, and when he could do the job.

I called Tim and one other vendor and received quotes e-mail quotes promptly. The other vendor gave me just that -- a quote. Tim's response was a proposal; it stated what he would do and included a warranty and references. I called him and asked him if he would come to the house so I could get a full understanding of what he was going to do, and also because I wanted him to see how the house was built, half on concrete slab and half on crawl space. He came the next day at the time he promised, explained everything. I told him I wanted to go ahead and he was out within a couple of days to do the job, explained to me what he was doing, was very professional and neat. He left the two sensors, and told me how to read them. At the end of the test period (several days), the area over the crawl space was around 2.0, well under the 4.0 threshhold, but the basement was at 4.1. Tim came out the next day(!), again right on time, and installed a bigger fan, and left another sensor. This time, the radon count dropped to 2.0 in the basement.
Description of Work: An independent radon test gave a reading of 4.7 in my walk-out basement. Tim drilled a hole in the floor of an unfinished section, excavated a pit, and vented to the outside with a fan. Half of our house is over a crawl space, not the basement. Tim thought that venting the basement would be sufficient and quoted for that. He said that he would leave post remediation sensors in both parts of the house and would quote separately for venting the crawl space if that were necessary. He said that if the reading in the basement was not under 4.0 when he finished, he would return and do whatever was necessary to get it under 4.0, at no additional charge.

After contacting Tim and advising him of our radon level (around 7) he came out to our house and told us what we needed to do to reduce it to acceptable levels. He was very prompt in arriving at our appointment and told us exactly what we would need to do to reduce our radon level. Because of the configuration of our house, he told us there was a possibility we would need to install a second system to maximize the radon reduction. However, he would try to make the first system work as efficiently as possible so we would not have to incur further cost. After installing the first system, Tim left a radon sensor in our basement so he could test the radon level over the next few days. After reading the sensor and determining that the levels were lower, but could probably be lower with the second system, we opted to have Tim install part two. (Our basement is part slab and part crawl space, so each space needed its own system. However, outside they are connected and we only have one fan.) Tim once again set the radon sensor after he completed the second installation. System two certainly did the trick and reduced our radon level to 2. Tim is a very neat and organized worker. He installed everything by himself and we think he does great work.

Was very concerned about being on time(he even called if he was going to be 5 to 10 min late)and about leaving the house as clean as he found it(he had indoor shoes and outdoor shoes)and he vacuumed up all areas where he had worked when he was finished. He worked with me as to placement of the system and even set up the fan temporarily in our attic to see if we could hear it from inside. His workmanship was excellent, e.g. making sure any small openings were appropriately caulked. The final cost was a little higher than the estimate because we ended up putting the fan in the attic which required more materials and work.

We were very impressed with Tim the owner. We selected him based on the positive feedback on Angie's List and that positive feedback was certainly valid! Tim arrived promptly, determined the best way to solve the problem and scheduled work within the week. Tim did an outstanding job and his installation is a work of art. He cleaned up after himself and is very professional. Tim even worked outside in the rain because we could not reschedule an alternate time due to work conflicts. We are very pleased!!! Thank You Tim!!!!
Description of Work: When the Home Inspector tested for Radon on a home we just purchased in Carmel, the readings were 14-YIKES! According to the EPA minimum acceptable levels should be 4 or less. We hired Radon Technology to advise what our options were to remediate the problem.

We bought a house with a radon warranty, so estimates and choice of companies were not an option to us. Tim was very easy to work with and explained the system to us before installation, confirmed the location of the exterior pipe and showed up right on time. We went from 7.4 to 1.4 in one weekend. Very satisfied.

Excellent! Mike spent a great deal of time communicating with us over what the job would entail and the costs. He even helped us to discover existing plumbing that allowed him to do the job for much less than we originally planned. He was prompt, gave us as much time as we needed to answer questions, made sure we understood what was being done and how the system worked, and was very professional. He was able to get our radon counts down from over 9 to below 2, which was fantastic!

It went very well. We were pleased with the suggestions made to make the installation smooth and not intrusive. Everything went as planned and there were no surprises. The actual construction was very well done and all areas involved were well sealed and neatly installed. Radon Technology did a very good job.
Description of Work: We did a short term home test kit to measure the radon level in our basement. When we found that the results were higher than the recommended level, we did a long term test that again confirmed that the radon level in our basement was higher than the recommended level. Radon technology visited our house, made recommendations and provided a quote. Subsequently we made an appointment and they installed the system. They tapped into our basement floor, neatly provided the required piping to the outside with a visual indicator and added the required outside piping and fan. They neatly covered and sealed the sump pits. They checked the radon level and it was well within the required specifications.

Our home inspector had personally used Radon Technology and recommended the company to us. I also got competing estimates for the job, but they did not vary much. Mr. Hinojosa gave me a complete description of the type of system to be installed before I scheduled the installation. He was very professional in answering all of my questions and the installation went smoothly: the sump pit is well sealed, everything was left clean and tidy and the system operates well. Mr. Hinojosa also monitored the radon levels in our basement for two days following installation to ensure that the levels had decreased to an acceptable level.

It was nice because he gave us two prices. One that would be the simple most efficient way but it had a pipe where we wouldn't want a pipe and the price was cheaper. The second option involved more work on his part and so it cost more, however it looked better because the pipe was hidden. We decided to go with the second option. They did a good job and we would hire them again.

Tim was very professional. My spouse and I had numerous questions and he answered them competently and patiently, over the course of multiple phone calls. He did an excellent job of discussing the options, issues, and pros and cons. The final cost was equal to the estimate. He provided a written proposal and proof of insurance. He arrived on time and did a thorough job of cleaning up.
Description of Work: Tim installed an active radon reduction system (includes vent fan) in our basement which attaches to our sump basins and forces the air outside the house. He did a 3-4 day test following installation of the system and confirmed it had successfully reduced the radon levels. Prior to his work, our radon test results varied over time and type of test (short vs. long term) from 3.2 to 7.1 pCi/L. After Tim installed the system, we performed a 4 month test which showed levels reduced to 1.4 pCi/L.
