It went well. The workers were very nice and Mark (the owner) gave us lots of information. My wife and I know a lot more about windows now. It is also nice to have such a great warranty on everything. We had issues with condensation in the past and it was really bad one some windows and Mark has repeatedly told us that it shouldn't be an issue but to call if it is.
Description of Work: We had all of our windows and sliding glass door replaced. We upgraded to triple pane that open from the top and bottom and got a much nicer door than before. 16 windows and 1 sliding glass door.

Response from Legacy Window & Door LLC
This home is typical of a significant number of homes facing window replacement.. Built in the 1990's , the home is a large two story with 20 vinyl construction windows and a patio door. The exterior facade is vinyl siding. Located in a nice, well maintained neighborhood, these homeowners wanted to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their home. Vinyl new constructions, often called single hungs, are a basic product that does not rate well on air infiltration and generally though the glass is dual pane, it does not have LOW E glazing and argon gas filled features. These two glass options, standard on Legacy Windows and Doors, is what makes our windows energy efficient and a great long term investment. These homeowners opted for our Heritage Series which features triple pane glass, ultra vue screens and a true lifetime warranty. For as long as the home stands, the windows have a warranty. Simple as that. No transferring, no service or labor charges. Ever. In addition to our super energy efficient windows the installation method we use guarantees the homeowner will never have a leak or air infiltration. Never because our window openings are triple sealed. Legacy estimates are free and there is never an obligation of any type. we look forward to meeting you!

I initially made contact with Legacy Doors and Windows through Angie's list on at the beginning of February. Mark Spencer, owner of Legacy came out and met with me and my wife. He gave us pricing for 16 windows and one patio door. We made Mark a counter offer on Feb 8th and within minutes he responded back and accepted our offer and was at our house within a few hours to pickup the deposit on the install. We paid $4600 deposit to get this project started. We were given an estimate of 4 to 5 weeks to receive the windows and door and to start the install. On March 7th, I contacted Mark to get an update on where we stand and I was told that we should have the windows in a week and that install would take place that Tuesday. I heard nothing from Mark and sent him another inquiry asking for an update on March 15th. Again, I was told that we would have the windows the following Tuesday and that installation would take place within two weeks. I had no issues with that, as I understand sometimes projects take longer or less. Another week had passed by, and no communication from Mark regarding any updates or to just let me know that the windows have arrived. So I sent him another inquiry on March 22nd to asked if we were confirmed as I had taken that day off to be sure that I am around for the installation. I heard nothing back on that day. I sent another inquiry on March 23rd asking to confirm the install date, again I heard nothing on that day. On March 24th I called Mark, and he said that we were already scheduled for the install on Wednesday March 29th. I texted Mark a day before the install at noon, on Tuesday March 28th and asked to confirm the install and to my surprise he texts me to give him a call and that he was returning my deposit. I did not know what else to think other than being cheated and lied to. He blamed the entire failure on the Polaris Windows manufacturing and I had very hard time believing that. I couldn't believe that its been 8 weeks and 18 hours prior to our install date, our project was cancelled. I picked up my deposit check the same day and cashed it to ensure that I get my money without any issues. After 8 weeks of waiting to the last hour, I had no new windows and was starting from scratch. I was very disappointed, and relayed to Mark that I will rate him fairly. I am including our text conversation to give everyone a better understanding of the communication or lack of communication on Mark's part. I am in no place to tell Mark/Legacy Windows how to run their business but I can only offer a few suggestions. First: At first glance, it felt great that the owner was involved in the entire process but after my experience I really think they need a project manager to handle these projects. When you have customers trust you with their money for 8 weeks and then have nothing to show up for, and not even a product on hand to install or to show for. Second: The lack of communication as very apparent, at no time was I given any updates regarding my windows or project. This was perhaps because there were no updates to be given, as I found out after two weeks there was no product to install and the install was cancelled 18 hours prior to start time. I thought twice about leaving this review for Mark, but at the end I decided that I should share my experience and perhaps warn others of what they may face. Mark obviously has a few good reviews on here and that's why we decided to go with him. We read another exact review that was similar to my experience prior to purchasing our windows and I said to myself "I hope this doesn't happen to me". Unfortunately, it is exactly what happened to us.

The custom made windows and door were not delivered to us on time. We were supposed to receive them 4 to 6 weeks from delivery. At six weeks we still had not recieved them. The homeowner was very upset and accused Legacy of being responsible. We refunded the homeowner deposit the same day. Legacy does accept responsibility of all aspects of our work but we cannot control product delivery. Legacy works on hundreds of homes every year and each job consists of custom made building products. The vast majority of our jobs are delivered on time but occasionally an item can be delayed. Its always our goal to make our customers happy and we are truly sorry whenever that doesn't occur. Please read our other reviews and you will see this is not common. At Legacy we strive to offer premium building products installed at a fair price.

Our home was built in 1992 and had the original front and service door and patio door. We had steel and definitely didn't want another steel. They have an Amish door line that we really liked. It's fiberglass but the look is like real wood. It's very nice, operates perfect. The lock is very unique. I like the look. We choose a fiberglass door painted for the service door. Mark recommended a door that swings out (so it can't be kicked in) which was a design change. We thought that was a good idea so we took his recommendation. The patio door we had was a 15 year old Pella that didn't work even when it was new. Our new sliding door has blinds between the glass. It's super smooth and locks in three places. Our home has the original wood windows. All 18 windows are double hungs, some were very large. We considered vinyl, but our wood is stained inside and the fake wood and the vinyl didn't look right. Our original windows were Andersen and we thought we would do those again, but we ended up doing Legacy's Amish wood line. It ended up being less than Andersen, with a better warranty and the wood is oak on the inside. My husband loved that. Furniture grade Amish finish. Just fantastic look. We couldn't do all the windows at once and Mark gave us a written guarantee to do the rest at the same price we bought the first 12! Great company to work with. James and his helper put everything in and did a great job. With the wood windows that was some trim work and it took a few days. They worked everyday until it was done. They put tarps down inside and outside and cleaned everything up very nicely. They even vacuumed around the doors inside! Legacy is honest and do what they say they are going to do. I will use them again and recommend them anyone who needs new windows or doors.

This is a beautiful spec home built in 1974 and with many nicer features. The homeowners were very particular but really fun to work with. The end result is a more maintenance free home, a more secure home, a more energy efficient home and a more valuable home. The original wood work was all stained and the homeowners like that look. We are able to offer homeowners many window options including wood clad: Andersen, Pella, Jeld Wen and vinyl that has the faux wood laminate that can work very nicely and our private label window line has the option of real oak or poplar furniture grade stained. They choose our Heritage series windows with stained oak interiors and clay exteriors. This window comes with a Lifetime warranty -- FOR AS LONG AS THE HOME STANDS. No pro rate. We used Provia for the doors. This Amish door line is renowned for its quality and exceptional look. At Legacy every job is important to us and we especially hold dear Angie's List members. Please call if you'd like to discuss a project.

We had used Legacy previously for windows and we called them about our kitchen project. Mark came back out and we discussed the goals we wanted and what our budget was.I showed Mark online the things we liked and he came back with a proposal that was workable. Legacy is not a huge company and we always spoke with Mark when we had questions. That was nice. The project was involved. In addition to the kitchen needing a new floor, fixtures, counter tops and cabinets, we cut a hole in the side of the house and put a large window there. More light in the kitchen is fantastic! The project took more than 2 months from start to finish. It was a little longer than we anticipated but we understood. Legacy has talented carpenters but not a lot of them. Mark and Robert both told us it would be nice and that can take a little time. They were right. The attention to detail was awesome. And as the project unfolded we did make small changes on the fly. Those were a difference maker. we love our new kitchen and we look forward to getting our master bath done next by Legacy. If you're considering a project, call these guys, nice people, easy to work with and the results have been great.

Working with Legacy and the owner Mark Spencer was great. Mark explained the project in advance and it went as described without any major issues. We called Legacy in early January and signed the order January 10.. They just finished the last door and we are very pleased. This is a company a homeowner can trust. We believe the quality of the installation was very good. Each day the debris was removed and the yard cleaned up. That was important to us. We also felt Legacy went the extra mile and provided us with the details we needed and in some cases, didn't know we wanted or needed. Example, our back service door is somewhat hidden by a row of bushes. Mark recommended for security we place an outswing door there. No one can kick in an outswing door. We feel more secure. Mark was great to work with. There was never any sales pressure to buy. We had an idea of what we wanted to do, but Mark's input was very helpful. It took a little while but we got the look we wanted. We had wood windows and didn't want those again, but we were concerned that vinyl might not be appropriate. Legacy has their own window and we used that . The look is the best I've seen in a vinyl window and the triple pane glass has made our home very quiet inside. The sun doesn't blind us in the evening in our family room either. Big relief there. Our house is brick lower level and cedar second story. We didn't want vinyl siding and ended up going with Hardie siding. The new color really makes our home stand out and the look is excellent. Fresh, crisp, no more wood rot! We love it. Legacy also replaced 3 doors. Two service doors and a new front door. We went with Legacy's Provia Amish door line. This is a stained fiberglass door and it looks like real wood. Legacy threw in a multipoint locking system for the doors, looks great, very secure. We also had our old wood deck taken down and hauled away. We ended up with a new design that works better with my back yard. Legacy's carpenters were also great to work with. Each morning we would get a call telling us their ETA. We ended up having their whole company here at one time or another. Window and door installers were very clean. The finish, the details were all done well. The crew that did the siding and the paint people were also professional and courteous. Everybody took their shoes off when they came in. That was nice. We are very happy with the job. We recommend anyone considering a project to give Legacy a call. Good people.
Description of Work: Our custom home was built in 1986. For a few years we had envisioned a complete exterior home make-over. When we finally had the money we took our time and got five quotes for the project: 28 windows, 3 doors including new front door, Hardie siding, new gutters, and a new deck. The quotes ranged in price considerably. The lower ones were more by guys who seemed to offer lower quality. Legacy wasn't the cheapest but not the most expensive either. We felt good about the price in comparison to the other quotes.

This was a fun project, involving lots of detail. The home was built in the late 1980's and was feeling the effect of the years. For the windows we used our Heritage platform. This revolutionary R5 window is available with many options including triple pane glass (standard) and even real wood on the inside. Stained or pre finished white. For doors we used Provia. This Amish line is top shelf in regards to quality. The stained fiberglass looks like real wood. It's gratifying when a homeowner chooses us to work on their entire home. If you'd like a free project estimate and live in Central Indiana please call us at 317 488-1464 and we'll arrange a time to stop by and visit.

I received a call in December saying the door was in and that someone would be contacting me about installation. I heard nothing. I had a family emergency and did not get back to it until January. I contacted them the second week of January and scheduled them for installation on February 10th. On the morning of February 10th at 9:00 a.m. I texted my contact again and asked exactly when they would be arriving. Fifteen minutes later I received a text back saying that he didn't even know who I was and he didn't recognize the number. When I gave him my contact information he texted back approximately fifteen minutes later that his crew was sick and that he would call me the beginning of the following week. That would have been the 13th. It is currently the 16th and I have still heard nothing!!!
Description of Work: I purchased through Angie's list a patio door in November of 2016. They promptly sent out a representative who up charged me since I was removing a window, not a door and having a few other minor things done. They told me it would be about four weeks before the door was in .

This is not an accurate review. The work has been done and the job looks and works great. Our installers were not able to make the first install date due to sickness. Our installers work everyday in the winter outside. They get sick in the winter. The installation team called and left her a message. She didn't return the call but instead posted this review. The door was installed 2 days after this review posted. The homeowner indicates the work was done but then in her statement says she hasn't heard back. Her entire review was biased and not accurate. When our crew arrived she first told them the door was the wrong color. She couldn't find her contract. We produced a copy of the contract that confirmed the color of the door was correct. There was no upcharge. This homeowner bought thru Angie's List a patio door. Take an old one out, put new one in. This job was not a simple door replacement. There was no door there to replace. We cut and created an opening and put a full size patio door in its place. This is major work and required rerouting of electric and lots of detail/finish work inside and out. Not a simple door replacement, it looks and works great now. What once was a window is now an entrance and exit to the home. We also fixed a door a previous contractor had installed. We did not charge for this extra work. At the time of the installation she was happy and told the crew they did a good job. We appreciate the customer's feedback but we respectively disagree and ask that the report be updated to reflect the work was actually done.

First off, calling any Door or Window company around here is a crap shoot and nothing but high pressure to close the deal. Most use this tactic of requesting both spouses be home to have better odds of selling you.....that is a joke. But let me tell you we called Legacy windows and Doors and this guy Mark shows up who is totally down to earth, professional and NO high sales pitch. We live in a woods that is very damp all year and really **** ** anything wood, so I know I wanted to go with some vinyl replacements but not break the bank. Mark took a look around the house, I explained what I was thinking and he listened to everything and came up with a great triple pane replacement window plan. A really good middle of the road replacement window for our neighborhood. At no time did I feel pressured or have that feeling of kicking him out of the house because he wasn't listening and was just trying to up sell us to something we didn't need. It really was a no-brainer to go with Legacy. We signed the deal, about 3 or 4 weeks later the windows came. Mark's crew was totally awesome, very professional and real craftsmen who knew what they were doing, and didn't take them long at all. I don't say this very often but very trustworthy and they seemed to care about the smallest of details. I would also add communication with Mark was great and prompt. Trust me, this company is worth the call and they may operate in Indy and Carmel but they have a very small town feel and attitude. I would use Legacy Windows and Doors again in a heartbeat. Owner Mark is a rare find in an industry where you feel like you're constantly being ripped off....no problem with a 5 star rating.

We appreciate every customer, particularly those who have purchased home improvement products from us and then come back and purchase again. Replacing old wood windows can make a big difference inside and out. Inside the homeowner now has a new look. Windows open easily and are a cinch to clean. Outside the old wood is gone and in its place is a new fresh look that will not require any maintenance other than a power washing. This homeowner had triple pane glass installed in their windows. This is not only the most energy efficient glass available but it will also make the home more quiet inside by blocking more outside noise. Legacy project estimates are information based and we do not pressure homeowners to make a decision but rather let them give us direction.

Initial meeting with owner, Mark Spencer, went very well on August 29th, 2016. No pressure from Mark to buy. Assured that if I went with him I would have his brother-in-law James doing the install. This was a big selling point for me as I did not want a sub- contracted crew in my home that Legacy could not vouch for. During meeting on August 29th I was told that my windows and doors would be ordered as soon as I paid a down payment and signed a contract. On September 2, 2016 Mark brought out samples of the exact type of window we would be getting and my husband and I signed the contract and paid Mark $12,872.00 which was half of the total cost. I was told my windows would take 4-6 weeks from this time. My contract with Mark at Legacy states that the projected end date will be October 2016. Mark emailed me on Sept. 7th that my information was entered into the Polaris system, but that he would send someone on Friday Sept. 9th to make sure the sizes were correct. This was done. I emailed Mark on September 9th asking if there was a possibility the work would be complete by October 16th because I was hosting an event at my home. Mark emailed back there was a good chance this was possible. On October 13th I emailed Mark to see if he had hear anything about my order. On October 14th he responded that it would be another 3 weeks since my patio doors and kitchen windows were special order due to the fact they had built in blinds. He told me that these have longest turn a round time at Polaris. Needless to say October came and went. If I wanted to see what was happening I was the one that had to contact Mark Spencer. On November 8th I received an email saying that my order will be here right before Thanksgiving. He gave me his reps name and number saying the delay was all on Polaris and his rep would verify. Supposedly I had a "HYPER CUSTOM ORDER" according to Mark. I will say the kitchen windows and doors did have built in blinds, but my garage, dining room, upstairs bedroom windows and great room windows did not have blinds. I pointed this out to Mark wondering why all of those rooms weren't ready to be put in, but not given an answer. November 18th and I get an email from Mark saying my windows will be in on Wednesday the 23rd and they will set up install after Thanksgiving at the first of the week. Work began on Tuesday, November 29th and was finally completed on Saturday December 3rd. Let me tell you this before I continue. The ONLY saving grace with Legacy windows and Mark Spencer is the super qualified, kind and attentive installers that he had come to my home. Instead of his brother-in-law, I was introduced to Beth, Darrell and Justin. These three did an amazing job of removing rotted out wood windows, rotten sliding doors, replacing rotten wood under doors and cleaning up after themselves. I would have loved to be able to give them their own rating as they deserve an A+ for everything that they have done to make this experience better. Amazing installers is what kept me from giving Legacy a lower rating. On Saturday, I paid the installers the remaining $12,872.00 without having Mark come back on Saturday to see if I was happy with the work and to make sure that everything was working. When I told Mark how frustrated I was with how long the order had taken he told me that Polaris is the worst company for how long it takes to get custom products. He apologized profusely, however, apologies don't work when you are pushed aside and don't have what you are promised. I wanted to see for myself that this was all on Polaris and their fault so I called them today at their headquarters in Ohio. I still have over 30 windows that I will be replacing in my home and wanted to see where the real delay came from. I gave Polaris my order number (can be found on stickers inside window when they are opened). I was told that my order was not actually placed on Setember 7th but rather placed much later on September 21st from Modern Building Supply in Indianapolis. This information told me all that I needed to know. I was lied to not only in multiple emails, but also to my face. I need to find a new company to purchase the rest of my windows from. Had Mark placed my order when he told me on September 7th or even the 9th I would have been able to have my order installed before the Thanksgiving Holiday which was a major reason we went with Mark to begin with. His delay in ordering my products, even with my money in his pocket has caused me a great deal of distress during the holiday season. Today is December 5th,2016 and I still haven't heard from Mark about how the remainder of the installation went.

We always concerned when a customer does not have an A+ experience. As with all jobs we will attempt to learn and get better. We are surprised and disappointed with this review. We don't believe it's accurate. There are a number of errors on the customer's recollection. The finished job turned out very well. We also did extra work at no cost. LEGACY only uses its own people on windows and doors. Product turn around times vary with each order. This order was custom casements and double hungs, custom exterior color with blinds between triple pane glass. This was custom product. We informed the homeowner the delivery was 8 to 12 weeks. We cannot rush or push the orders. The homeowner was aware of the turn around time and we updated them throughout the process. Once the product arrived we installed immediately. During our installation we found a number of walls had extensive wood rot. We repaired four walls at no cost to the homeowner including replacing studs in the walls. We are sorry we didn't meet this homeowner's delivery expectation. The job itself turned out excellent, everything looks great and functions well. Our work lasts for decades and it must be done right. We are focused on turnaround but more so on the finished product. We are sorry the homeowner wasn't completely happy. The windows looked great and operated perfectly when we left. All their old rotted wood was gone. In the future we will do everything we can to speed up this type of order in the future.

Daryl, Beth, and Jason did a great professional job, and were on time. Beyond the quality of workmanship and materials being good, they left the work place cleaner than it was before they arrived. Note that although the installer's work exceeded our expectations, the agency/dispatcher was a bit disorganized. This is most likely due to being overwhelmed by responses to a large number of good promotions currently offered by Legacy Window & Door. This is the only reason we didn't give an A for every rating category.

The work turned out great, the door and trim look awesome. Our installers are premium quality workers and great people. Our homeowners always feel comfortable with LEGACY workers in the house. We had a somewhat comical situation regarding this homeowner as we had another customer at the same time with a nearly exact name, but reversed. We called him and mistook him for the other homeowner twice. LEGACY vinyl patio doors are manufactured by Simonton Windows and Doors and come with a transferable Lifetime product warranty.

We've read a lot of nasty comments about some companies that sell replacement windows(e.g., high pressure tactics, bait and switch with windows, price playing, etc.) so I entered into the search for a window company with a lot of skepticism. Doing my homework on Angie's list I narrowed the potential window companies to four that all appeared to be ethical and sold a good, fair priced window. (Some of the companies I didn't even waste my time with requesting an estimate due to the Angie's list reviews and I think the homework was well worth my time.) Just by the luck of the draw when scheduling window companies, Legacy was the final company we spoke with for an estimate on replacement windows. As a result of what I read on Angie's list about the window salespeople and the time they try to spend at your house to "wear you down", I told each replacement window sales representative that they had one hour to give me their sales pitch, provide me with their best price estimate, and then I would escort them out the door. The first three companies salespeople were decent and did a fair job of presenting their product (i.e., replacement vinyl windows). Two had good windows (one representative presented us with a very inexpensive window, which really surprised me) and they all stuck to the allotted one hour. After three presentations we thought that the fourth, Legacy Windows, would not be much different and were resigned to having better windows that the rotted wood one's but maybe not quite what we wanted. Well, Mark Spencer, the owner of Legacy Windows showed up as the final person in our attempt to find replacement windows. The minute my wife and I met him, we knew that he was not a "song and dance person" like a few of the other salespeople that spoke to us. Mark looked at what we had, asked us about what we wanted, and then showed us the window her thought was our best option. Both my wife and I were impressed - he was showing us Polaris ultraweld triple pane vinyl windows. Of course, my thought was, 'very nice but there is no way we can afford this quality window after getting estimates on lower quality double pane windows. Well, I was wrong. Not only did we get the best window available (my opinion after a lot of research) but we also got it at the best price and from a local Indianapolis company. We've had the windows for about six weeks and the house is cooler (consistent temperature) and the noise from the neighbor's yapping dogs has been greatly reduced. The installers, Darrell, his wife Beth, and Austin (summer employee who is a teacher) were a pleasure to have working on our house. Darrell is amazing at his trade and does a thorough job both installing the windows and having the aluminum trim wraparound flawless. I think that Legacy Windows have to be one of the top, most honest, replacement window companies in Indianapolis with by far superior installers.
Description of Work: Our house was built in 1990 and had the original wood windows (18 double hung windows and one fixed window in the garage for a total of 19 windows). Legacy removed the original rotted windows, replaced all the rotted sills and rotted trim. Vinyl triple-pane windows were installed which included wrapping the replaced wood trim with aluminum matching the windows.

This was a wonderful couple to work for. Like many other homeowners their windows were falling apart and needed to be addressed. By removing all the rotted wood down to the studs of the wall, we were able to install custom Polaris windows and create a maintenance free exterior. At LEGACY our in home approach is an informational format not a selling format. After we explain our services we don't offer a phony incentive to purchase then. We take great pride in our installation quality. Our window and door installers only install windows and doors. They are experts and they care! By using three different sealants we completely seal the opening against all air and water infiltration. The home's energy efficiency has been upgraded dramatically and there is no more exterior maintenance on the exterior, ever. If you're interested in remodeling or replacing windows please call us or email. All estimates are free and there is never an obligation to purchase. 317 488-1464

This was such a fun and satisfying project to work on. The homeowners had replaced their old siding with Hardie and the old windows were really looking old! Rotted wood, torn screens, and none opened. We installed our Polaris Ultra Weld white double hungs. Our white color is more low gloss and muted, definitely not bright white. the new look with their previous home improvements elevated the curb appeal on this home to the stratosphere. The triple pane glass has made their home more quiet and most important substantially more energy efficient than the single pane wood windows the home was built with. To complete the job our exterior trim seals against any possible air leaks. Our exclusive foam we use (made in Finland) seals around the windows before we install the trim.

I had 7 windows that needed replacing, Legacy came out with example Windows and explained what we would be getting. After that we setup a and the came got rid of my old ones and installed the new ones very quick, and I have to say I was skeptical at first but when they finished I was beyond pleased. They made them look great and they were very neat with their work.

This couple was a pleasure to work with. Like many homes built in the 1990's, builder grade vinyl windows were used. Builder grade or new construction vinyl windows are typically single hung, which means the top sash does not move, and though dual pane windows, must do not have LOW E glazing or argon gas filled dead air space. LOW E glazing is a microscopic layer(s) of silver that is embedded in the glass. This reduces heat flow thru the glass. In the winter it slows the release of the heat inside our homes and in the summer it slows the absorption of heat from the outside to the interior. Argon gas is an inert gas that is heavier than air. This is also slows the transfer of heat thru the glass. The windows we installed are Polaris Ultra Weld double hungs. These units feature the lowest air infiltration numbers on the market: .01. With their reduced energy use, these windows will pay for themselves in 6-8 years. If you would like a free estimate on new windows, doors or a new 4 season room please call or text 3174881464.

Mark Spencer came out to give us an estimate and was very prompt and polite. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and was able to provide a great-looking, energy-efficient solution that fits in well with the other various window types in our home. The installer was very polite and quiet. He did a great job and cleaned up after himself completely. We are extremely satisfied with the windows and service and will definitely use Legacy again in the future.

This was a fun job. The room had 3 large fixed windows. No ventilation. We installed 6 double hungs with screens and LOW E glass. The energy glass keeps out the heat in the summer and helps retain the heat inside in the winter. With screens the homeowners can now ventilate their home. Our project estimates are free. We will leave you with a written quote so you can review it at your leisure.

Upon realizing that his services were not in my best interest (I needed to replace glass rather than windows), Mr. Spencer spent the next 1/2 hour giving me helpful hints and resources that I needed to progress with selling my house. He demonstrated the very highest in ethics and interest in truly helping his customer. The very best. I will use him again (and actually hopes that he bills for his superb service).

Mark was great to work with throughout this project. One thing that stands out is that whenever you call he always answers. I called him several times throughout the time his team was doing the install and I never once went to voicemail. He's personable and knows his stuff when it comes to windows. Our install had it's share of challenges during and after the install but Mark was committed to providing a quality installation and never once suggested that anything that had to be done wasn't included in his original quote. Overall I know that Legacy Window & Door stands by the quality of their product and I'm very happy with it. Mark came out to the house to take a look at the basement and the exterior of the house to get an idea of our basement structure and size as well as what the exterior looked like for digging the window wells. He came out on a Friday and I had the quote by mid-day on Monday. Once we agreed to pricing and windows it took a few weeks to get the windows in because they had to be ordered custom along with the well materials. Once the windows came in he had a team out to dig the wells. It took a team of three guys a couple of days to dig a 6'x5'x6' well (Indiana clay isn't soft). Unfortunately, it started to rain while they were digging which lead to them not quite digging the wells as deep or as wide as was needed. The day for cutting in to the concrete to create the windows came and he came out personally to make the wells deeper and wider so the cutting could begin. Indiana Concrete Cutting handled cutting the holes in to our 8" think poured concrete basement walls. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them for any concrete cutting needs. Afterwards, there were challenges with getting the concrete blocks hauled away but Mark was able to contract a guy to do it. The window installation itself happened quickly and I'm very happy with the finished product. Unfortunately, a few weeks after the installation happened we had a few days of heavy rain in Indiana (2-3 inches over a weekend) and the window wells ended up flooding and leaking in to the basement (fortunately we hadn't insulated or drywalled the basement yet so no damage was done. I called Mark on a Sunday, he answered and had someone out first thing the next morning to dig the window wells deeper and insert a drain to the bottom of the basement wall where it can drain in to the sump pit. Mark stood by the warranty and I wasn't charged anything for having the drain installed. I was disappointed that this happened and that the drain wasn't installed from the beginning but Mark was a true professional about it.

We dealt with the owner, Mark Spencer, directly. The process was virtually seamless from start to finish. It was very reassuring to work with the owner. He knows a ton about windows and home improvements in general (as also a general contractor). He was more interested in finding out what we wanted than selling us on anything in particular. That was a breath of fresh air for sure after looking at some other companies that send sales people to your door. A lot was riding on this purchase, so we were glad to work with someone that knew what they were doing. We decided on his company because of his experience and knowing that the relationship was important to him so he would take care of us. We made a great choice. During installation his crew was very experienced and professional. I felt comfortable having these guys around the house. I had planned to work from home, but after talking to them a little bit I just left them with my cell number and told them to let me know if they needed anything. My wife was in and out through the whole project. They finished most of the inside of our house on the first day (getting the windows actually installed). They completed the big bow window and the sliding door on the second day and finished up the metal work the next morning. When they were gone you would have never known they had ever been there...other than the brand new windows. They were fantastic! Our house was built in 1982 and our old windows were our driving source of energy inefficiency. We did online research for almost a year (on and off) and when we got serious we had a couple of companies over. One thing I learned is that a lot of window companies use the exact same manufacturer to build their windows, they just slap their name tag on them (and they can tweak the design...most likely for style...and the prices for the same windows vary like you wouldn't believe). One company in particular was trying to sell us on the foam and metal material used for installation (claiming their stuff was the best). I later found out that Mark's company was using the exact same materials. In the end, I highly recommend Legacy Window & Door. No gimmicks and a great product!
Description of Work: We bought a full house of windows from Legacy. We got triple pane Alside windows. We also got a new sliding door and a 4-pannel bow window in the kitchen (which looks awesome!). The was our first time buying windows for a house, and I'm extremely glad we went with Legacy. I would use them again with no hesitation.

This was a fun project. The homeowners replaced all of their windows with our premium vinyl product featuring triple pane glass. This is the glass that makes a difference. We sell triple pane for what others sell dual pane for. You can reduce your energy loss thru windows by 1/3. In addition to all the windows, double hungs with colonial grids, the homeowners replaced a drafty, rotted wood patio door with a new vinyl one as well. This entrance is now more secure and energy efficient. No more drafts while eating breakfast! The bay window on the front of the house is a real winner. Bays and bows add so much character to the front of the home while inside adding depth and light plus a favorite place for the cat or little pooch. LEGACY is currently offering 15 Months Same as Cash financing which is what these homeowners choose. Get the project done plus consolidate those cards. The warranties on all of the windows, patio door and bay are LIFETIME Product and Labor for initial owner. Transfers one time for 20 years coverage for second owner. This is the strongest warranty available today. LEGACY Window and Door is a full service general contractor located in the Arts and Design District of Carmel. We offer free project estimates on windows, doors, kitchen and bath remodel, room additions and all types of floors. I signed a contract with Mark Spencer on 7/13/15 to provide a replacement Jen-Weld wood casement window for an upstairs bedroom. He came out himself to measure and help me select the inside stain and outside color to match the house. He said it would take 4-6 weeks. At the beginning of September, I called to find out when the work would begin. Jen-Weld was having difficulties. Without further communication, I came home on 9/10 to find a check for my deposit stuck under my front door mat. He apologized and said Jen Weld was having issues and he was halting all Jen Weld sales. He was releasing me from my contract. I called him on 9/11 to let him know i received the check and asked him if there wasn't another window vendor we could use. He said he liked Pella. He volunteered to restart the process with Pella and even though this was a more expensive window, he would honor the price. He thought it would arrive in 3 weeks and declined to take a deposit saying I could pay for it all when he came to install. I called Mark again on 9/15 and he confirmed he had ordered the new window. He said he would call with an update in a week. I heard nothing from him, so left several messages on his voicemail between the 11th and 19th of October. I emailed him then on Oct.20th to get an update. On the 21st, Mark responded that he had not received from Jen Weld his original deposit (???) and would call if he received news. I emailed him back the same day and asked him to explain what he was talking about and what was the status of the Pella window he ordered for me? On Oct 21st I sent another email marked Urgent asking him for an explanation. Again, he said he hadn't received the Jen-Weld deposit and would call if he received news. On the 24th, I sent another email to get some resolution. He responded by email he would have our original order in 3 weeks from Wednesday. He had bought the window and could not return it so we could either have it installed or he would take it as a loss. I responded by email that we needed the window replaced by winter and asked if he had confidence in this new timeline. He responded by email on Nov 3 that this had been an "odd order" and admitted the original Jen-Weld window was shipped, received and RETURNED by him. He offered to restart the order again if we would provide him with a new deposit. We declined. This was undoubtedly the worst contractor experience of our lives!

We did not work on this home. We ordered a single custom stained wood window for this homeowner. When we received the window it was not correct The homeowner was upset and accused us of delaying the order We immediately refunded the customer's full deposit so they could be assured we were not holding the order up. We were happy to reorder the window from another manufacturer but it required a new contract and deposit. They refused and we didn't hear from them until this review.

I wasn't satisfied with the service, they didn't seem to listen to what I had wanted done and asked me to fax pictures to see what we were looking for, they came out and really just did things how they wanted to do them opposed to how we'd have liked it done. The workmanship was poor, they said it would last another 20 years, but it looks like it's coming off the house where it should be attached. I had contacted the owner right after the work was performed and informed him that I wasn't satisfied with the work and he wasn't able to resolve my issues. I wouldn't recommend this company for any pergola work.

It felt like I had to stay on top of them for them to stay on top of their work. I was doing more work then they were with all the calling I was doing. The whole problem was from them not installing the door properly. I distinctly recall asking Mark Spencer " WILL IT COST EXTRA BECAUSE IT IS AN UNUSUAL SIZED DOOR" He physically took out a tape measure and measured the door, and said it's not a problem. This all led me to believe I was getting the same sized door. I have taken pictures of the door when it's closed and you can actually see that the door is crooked. It's cracked at the top and closed at the bottom.
Description of Work: On June 23rd I signed an agreement for Legacy to install a sliding door. When That was signed i had to give them 50% down on the door. I called them before the installation date and confirmed with them that the door was an unusual size and asked if it would cost more for the bigger door. They told me no. it wouldn't cost more. Every couple of weeks they would call me and keep rescheduling saying they were too busy. I told them that was fine just as long as they had it done by the winter. When they came to install the door they brought a sliding door that was too small for the space. They put a lot of sealant around the door to make it fit. I called them because I didn't like the work and they said they would get back to me. I noticed something else I didn't like. in order for the door to close you had to shut it very hard in order for it to lock. I called and told them I didn't like that and asked if they could switch the lock. They said they were unable to switch the lock and that it was standard on that type of door. A few weeks later I noticed the door didn't have a floor lock on it. called the AGAIN to get that installed. They didn't install it for weeks later and when they rescheduled again after they installed it to come adjust it for a second time. This winter sitting close to the door, i noticed their was no insulation and their was a draft coming from the door. I myself had to stick insulation down in the frame to stop the draft. I didn't get back with them about this until this year because I was busy with Family issues.
