Excellent outcome. After the cleaning our deck looked brand new. We thought Brian replaced all the old wood with new. Not only did he clean the deck wood in preparation for refinishing he also spray-washed the painted siding and eaves of our screened porch at no charge "just because it needed it". .After he refinished the deck it looks as great as it did 11 years ago when we first had it installed.

Everything went very well. After requesting a quote, I received a call the same day and he was able to get us on his calendar three weeks later. He called us a few days before he came so that we could take our furniture off our deck. He then power washed and stained the deck in two days. It looks great! I couldn't be happier with the service and the price.

He came over when we were out of town, did the work while we were gone & had it done by the time we got back. It turned out perfect, just like the last time we used him. We are very happy with the results. He was very prompt with the estimate & he was here before I knew it to do the work.

They preformed well did it all in one morning. I let it alone for a week. When I when out to walk on it I found a few spots where the paint had chipped away and some spots in between the boards that didn't get the paint. When I call the owner he came within a few days and fixed everything a job well done.

We use Brian every 3 years for our deck work. He is one of the very few contractors we trust. We trust we will receive good quality & reasonably priced service. This year we also had him pressure wash our concrete walkway & without fuss he did a fine job of it. Frankly, he is the one rare contractor we don't have to stress about. I wish there were more like him.

Overall, we are very pleased with the look of our deck. I did a lot of research on deck work and explored several other service providers. Brian had great reviews and prompt service. He had color options that fit our needs. Brian was available to answer questions we had for the work. We are very happy with our deck and appreciate the work done! Brian was very responsive to my request for an estimate and showed up the next day, giving information on pricing what work could be done. Given that this was my first time hiring someone for deck work, I had a lot of questions and opted to email him these questions, as I was very busy and was exploring options with other service providers as well. Brian responded promptly, though he was rather short in his emails. Perhaps this isn't his preferred method of communication. We do have some composite material on some built-in benches on our deck, and Brian had suggested painting this as well. When we decided to go with Indy Deck Magic for the work, I informed Brian that we had decided not to have the composite material painted because we'd read that paint does not adhere well to composite. Brian immediately called me and left a voice mail stating he needed to speak with me about concerns with not painting the composite. His voice mail was curt and not very professional, stating that there had been too many emails and he needed to speak with me on the phone. I called him back, and he asked if this was my first time hiring for deck work, using a condescending tone to explain to me at length that he has experience with decks and how the work is done, etc. He said it would cost more to avoid painting the composite because he would have to cover the composite to avoid getting paint on it., which is understandable He explained how he'd worked with other customers who had complained about his work and his responses to this. I don't doubt he is experienced and does good work, as we've seen on our deck, but I would have appreciated a little more tact and professionalism. It's not appropriate to be bringing up past customers' complaints and his denial of mistakes past customers had made. I believe several people would have declined his work at this time due to his treatment of a potential customer. Nonetheless, we decided to use his services in hopes that his workmanship was as other reviews had stated and not dependent on his professionalism. We did decide to have the composite painted, as Brian declined the work if he had to cover up the composite due to the work needed to do this. After confirming to hire Brian, the work was done in a few weeks. We were not able to schedule a specific date/time for the work because it was weather dependent and also dependent on where Brian was doing work on a given day. We were given a range of about a week when Brian would be out. We were not home when the work was done, so I cannot comment on any specific work done to the deck. The deck was power-washed at the end of a week (Friday I believe) and then painted the beginning of the following week. Ironically, Brian had informed me of past customers' complaints of paint splatters on the siding of their home, and Brian claims that the paint was from another project, and not his work. Yet, after Brian's work on our deck, I noticed paint on our siding. The paint was the same color used on the deck. I mentioned this to Brian, and he stated that he doubted it was from his work because he is very careful, but agreed to come look at it anyway the following day. He did later apologize that it was his paint on our siding and removed the larger spots on the siding. Some smaller spots still remain on our. Again, we are pleased with the work done and have enjoyed our deck, however, I could have been happier with the way I was treated as a customer. I did appreciate Brian's prompt responses and willingness to answer our questions, albeit his lack of professionalism, and the fixing of the paint splatters on the siding.

Brian did an excellent job. He was able to perform the work on short notice, and the deck looks amazing! I will use Brian again.

The work turned out great. One day to clean and one day to stain. Brian recommended a good color and came out for touchups. Fence looks great.

As we discussed the maintenance issues we are having with our deck, he suggested that I consider an Eons deck and gave me the contact information for a company that he highly recommended. I was very impressed with Brian's knowledge, honesty and the fact that he wanted what was best for our situation, not what was best for his own business. He is a true professional!

Brian was outstanding. Lived up to my expectations based on other reviews. Very helpful in assessing what work needed to be done. Didn't recommend unneeded services, some other estimates did. You can trust his consultation. Competitively priced. Gave realistic timelines and updates (based on wx) of when the work will be completed and followed through. We have what I consider a lot of deck space and it is complicated by having two of the decks over 2 stories above. I had no worries with Brian as he is committed to working safely. The decks look great. Attention to detail is perfect, no splatter, paint drips, didn't damage plants, etc. Work was just completed so can't speak to longevity of work yet... if you don't see a revision to this review it was excellent. I have my go to deck staining solution.

He came out and did an awesome job, it looks prefect! It almost looks as good as when we first got the flooring in our screened in patio. Overall it was great!

I sent Brian an e-mail to inquire about taking care of our new cedar deck. Brian responded right away (on a Sunday) and gave me his valuable professional opinion. As it turns out, he suggested we hold off doing anything with our deck until the fall. We will definitely use Brian in the future! Thank you for your professionalism!

I called to get a quote on cost, Brian came out that afternoon and looked at algae stain on vinyl siding in front of my house. He said he would charge the minimum charge and do it right away because he still had enough hot water on his truck for the job. I was pleased not to have to schedule another time and to just get it done. I also want to thank Todd Cartmel of the Painting Edge who advised me to be sure and find someone who could use hot water for that particular job.

It was a great experience from the first phone call. Brian was very knowledgeable and gave me all the details I needed to make an informed decision. He came out and power washed the deck on a Monday and then came back on Wednesday and painted the deck. It looks great and when we need it done again (many years from now) we will call Brian.

To my surprise he told me that my deck really didn't need anything but a good washing and I could do this myself or have him do it. He said he would not do anything else to it. I was amazed. I can't remember when the last time a worker came to my house and said everything was OK, here is how you can fix it and call me next year! I was impressed with his honesty.

I actually joined Angie's List so that I could provide a review for Brian Mayes and Indy Deck Magic! Outstanding work! I called several companies and got bids before getting a referral from another Angie's List member, who sent me to Indy Deck Magic. Some competitors were less in cost but, none can touch Indy Deck Magic in professionalism, quality of work, detail orientation and the top notch overall results. In my case, we did the deck in mid-October 2013 and the weather was not our friend. Brian and his team had to do the work over two days in two phases because of rain. He told me after he had pressure sprayed and scraped that he would have to wait until we had some dryer weather to apply the stain or it wouldn't cure and set properly on the wood. He was proactively at my house in the early morning on the very next sunny day. He and his team knocked the entire 13' x 20' deck in mere hours! He is a nice guy, a pro and really knows his stuff. I scraped and stained my deck myself 3 times in 11 years and you can clearly, visually see the difference in the quality of his work vs. my own efforts! Next time I am calling him. Brian Mayes, owner, came to our home last Spring to quote work on pressure washing some vinyl siding and some concrete , such as the sidewalks, patio. Between Spring and Fall, we found ourselves discussing making changes to the sidewalk/patio concrete areas, so we asked Brian to come out & wash just the 2nd floor vinyl portions of our home. He worked with us even though we handed him a change in our work order, (less work, less money) arrived on time, completed the pressure washing...working with us professionally.

Brian showed up same day I called for estimate and told me he had to wait until the weather was closer to winter to perform service. He showed up to do the work and worked quickly and competed same day. Not only did he do work requested he also did front sidewalk at no charge. I absolute will use him again.

He spent a whole half an hour talking to us everything about mending our fence. He gave us some good advice on that but, we did not end up going with him. But we appreciate him, for the way he explained us the work.

The service was fantastic. I called Brian to ask for an estimate and he was out the same day. A few days later he had my deck done and the workmanship was excellent. I also provided clear instructions for maintenance. Would definitely use again!
