I would HIGHLY recommend Home Experts for any of your home renovation projects. From the start, Home Experts were very prompt and professional in communicating. After discussing our kitchen renovation, Ken ended up giving my husband advice on how to go about doing some of the projects ourselves and saving us money! His professionalism and helpfulness definitely earned our business for any future projects. Thank you!

They fixed several window sills and porch beams that were rotten.
Description of Work: The only issue we had with them is there was NO communication as far as cost increases. The original contract that we signed stated any additional changes would be in the form of a written estimate. This was not done. They said that there would be an additional estimate but it never materialized. The cost of the project doubled. The office consistently did not get our payments. We paid 50% down and they cashed the check and she wanted us to send her a copy of the check. Then when it came time to pay the bill they sent not one but 2 different invoices. Each time going up in cost. Then we made arrangements to pay 3,000 and an additional 1,200. Then the second invoice came for 4,784. We paid the 3,000 and when I called to pay the additional monies owed she stated that the 3,000 was never received. However the check was cashed. Did not seem like they knew what the other was doing. I would not use them again for this reason. Regardless if I say it needs to be done I still want to know a cost. The work was done quickly and the guys did an excellent job. But when a cost doubled I want to know not be surprised with a bill.

I'd hired this company two years ago and they were punctual and very careful with carrying my furniture to our basement, so I was shocked that they 1. lost their notes this time for the first visit, and 2. never got back with me unless I called them first, or emailed them! They seemed enthusiastic, willing, and capable to do what we needed. True, there had been a change in their family situation, so I did understand losing the notes and not getting back with us while we were gone on vacation. The 2nd person also showed up 4 hours early (without calling first). I would hire them again IF there was a reasonable explanation as to why they were so lax in getting back with their estimates. Did they not know who to hire for these jobs (drapery installation and furniture repairs)? Or were they unfamiliar with installing cellular shades or repairing furniture? If so, I wish that they had told me that they needed to do some research on this first! I really trusted them, so I don't get what the problem is.
Description of Work: Came out twice to see what we needed done. The first person came out and took notes. The second person came out a month later b/c the first person had lost their notes. The second person did snap photos with a phone. Have not heard back.
The experience was great from start to finish. Ken came out quickly to give me an estimate. The estimate was very fair for the work being done. They were able to schedule the work according to my needed timeline. Brian and his crew did the work. The communication with Brian was great. He, along with everyone I encountered at Home Experts, were amazing to work with. The process went smoothly and the end result is beautiful. We are now having them give us estimates on several other home projects due to the great experience we had with them. highly recommend them.

These folks are wonderful! The paint crew worked so efficiently, quickly and neatly -- I was amazed at what a clean job the painters did (and it's beautiful). The real test of a provider is what happens when something goes wrong. There was a small problem while the painting was going on, and they made it right immediately. I was very satisfied with their service recovery! We ended up with a couple of change orders on our job. (We asked for more work to be done.) Brian and Kent took care of them right away. It's so hard to find people you can trust -- these folks are people you can trust. I cannot say strongly enough how pleased I am with their work. I highly recommend them!!

Ken and his company have performed numerous jobs for us over the years, from a full basement renovation, to installation of a custom wine rack, to small odd jobs when we were buying or selling homes. Ken is always very quick with responses via phone and/or e-mail. Ken's personality is one of the reasons we keep coming back. His primary concern is that you are happy when the job is done. Our most recent project was a new front porch and step. Beautiful finished product!

The man who came out had no clue what he was doing, he even arrived in a van instead of a pick-up truck, he also had a blank invoice with no idea on pricing or how to fill it out. I totally relied on this company in 2012 to install my new roof, what really did it for me was when I had come back out in April and he said everything was fine but then I had two other roofing companies and adjusters all said same thing-shingles not on correctly. Awful job all around and I will never call him again. He is a nice guy but never supervises his workers. On two occasions he sent out a man named Rick, who did super work with the flashing on my chimney. I am so terribly disappointed because I had relied on him for the past five years. Occasionally he did give me good information but the more educated I get I am finding more information he told me isn't accurate.
Description of Work: My most recent visit was when he sent a poor worker to come and clean my gutters and put my shingles on my roof where I had my power line re-anchored. He removed the shelving, sheet rock, and insulation.

The person estimating had good ideas compared to another estimator. However, he did not bring a ladder or ask to borrow one as a result one bad place was missed. Being over 80 years old I had not used a ladder. after the job was done I decided to get a ladder and inspect their work. That is when I discovered the bad piece. He also left one item out in the estimate and put down the wrong dimensions on some parts. The small window sill was left out and he charged. a too high price of $120 for 20 min. of work to replace and paint the sill. The quote came by computer and was not very well written. The workmen did an excellent job. They were very professional and cleaned up well after the job. Too bad their boss did such a poor job.
Description of Work: Removed bad wood from the north side of the house. Replaced with new wood and painted. Included a window sill, two boards 12' long. and a 5' board.

Ken Bennet got with us right away to assess the job. He was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. Once we decided to go with them, Brian Bennett set it up within a week (we thought sure it would be much longer). It took two days to complete. Everyone came at the time that was set up. The second day their painter was delayed coming to our house and Brian let us know what was going on so we weren't waiting and wondering. We are totally pleased with how our deck looks now. It was very well done. We are truly impressed! Once the job was finished, Brian contacted us to see our reaction to the work done. From start to finish this company proved to be the right choice!
Description of Work: We have a large deck across the back of our house with 2 sets of stairs, rails and built in bench seat. 6 boards needed replaced. Home Experts replaced the boards, power washed, scraped and repainted everything. We provided the paint.
We are extremely pleased with the workmanship provided. But what we admired the most was the quality of the people doing the work. Just talking with them you could readily tell they were people of high moral character. We could easily discern that they treated the work like they were doing it for their own home. They were prompt. They kept the worksite as clean as possible. (Tile work is by nature extremely dusty.) And when the project was done, they left the garage where they had "set up shop" impeccably clean. Not a question in my mind, I will use them again in future projects.
Description of Work: Tore out and replaced all tiling throughout entire house including bath tub area, removed and replaced tile facing of the fireplace, remodeled dry bar area,
Overall, I am very happy with the final result of the work done by Home Experts. ?The owners and crew were punctual, very friendly and professional. ?Very good about cleaning up after themselves. ?Quality of the work was top notch and I would recommend them to friends and would use them again. ?Due to bad storms on the scheduled day (Thursday) to start work, the window replacement had to be rescheduled for the next day which also threatened with rain. ?The crew arrived on time and managed to set the window just minutes before another storm came in. ?This rescheduling caused the drywall work to have to be pushed to the following Monday. ?This would have been an inconvenience if it weren't for the fact that I can do my work from home if necessary. ?But I know things happen, like storms, that are out of anyone's control and Home Experts was willing to work with me to get all work done as timely as possible. ?The only thing I can ding them on would be the cost. ?I thought it was just a bit high but not unreasonable. ?It was still much better than first quote I got from a different company. ?You get what you pay for and I got a quality window and quality work so I'm not going to complain. ?Now it's up to me to finish the project with the paint.
Description of Work: 1. Remove the drywall between the arched window and the two windows below in the front room. Inspect for any damage, wipe down wood Install new drywall taped and finished ready for paint Remove the tape on the ceiling to the wall going up the stairs Install new tape with mud, Install two more coats and texture To match, The color of the new texture will not match. 2. Remove and replace the two windows in living room below arch The window will be completely removed from wall and new one will made to Fit the opening, Glass will be lifetime on breakage, low E, argon gas filled With grills in glass to match, repair the drywall after installation caulked And ready for paint, Exterior - remove the cedar trim to install window Install PVC trim between the windows so no painting is needed
I don't give A+ 100% satisfaction reviews for very many things. Home Experts deserve one though. Ken and his crew were fantastic. They arrived when they said they would. The quality of the work was fantastic. We had a question about which way to lay the wall tile around the bath tub. Ken came out that night to meet with us to learn what the issues were. Together we came up with the best plan to lay the tile. The lead on our project was Rick. Rick attacked our project as if it were his own house. Brian was also the lead on several projects. Quality and customer service was evident through and through. We've grown frustrated with a lot of other local "contractors". We WILL call Home Experts for other projects in the future. Thanks Ken!

Ken came to the property on 05/13/15 to assess my problem and give me an estimate. On 05/14/15 he promptly sent someone out. They removed drywall, repaired the leaking water lines, installed new fixtures and installed a panel in the wall for future access. They did this in just over half a day. They were prompt, professional, and just plain nice guys. I would call on them again in a heartbeat. 4708 E. Calhoun St.

I contacted Home Experts to install a new dead lock on a metal door. Ken responded to my calls fast and confirmed that his company could do this job. He first wanted to send someone out the following week since they're very busy. But he graciously agreed to squeeze me into his tight schedule and send someone out the same week. His person was right on time and very polite. He did a very good job installing the dead lock, though I think it was not an easy job. He worked very hard to get through the door. Impressive job. He even stayed then a bit longer to make sure my new electronic lock worked correctly. I will definitely use Home Experts again.
Description of Work: Home Experts installed a dead lock in our house.
Bob showed up on time. He removed an old shower door and installed one that I'd bought and brought home. He caulked the door and ensured that the rest of the shower stall and fixtures were properly caulked. He also replaced a bath fan with one I'd bought, which was not straightforward as it required him to get in to the attic for access. Lastly, he recaulked the kitchen sink. All the work was done well and in a reasonable length of time. Bob's been working on houses for years, and I had (well-placed, as it turns out) confidence that he knew what he was doing. Everything was clean when he left. The hourly rate was higher than I'd paid for handyman services in the past, but the reason the shower door leaked was because of a previous handyman who'd not caulked thoroughly. I paid more but got the job done correctly this time. I didn't shop the job around and was not going to grade "price," but Angie's List makes it a required field whether or not the rater (that's me!) knows what he's talking about. A grade of "B" is my impression, but don't put much weight on it; call around and get your own estimates or hourly rates. I was satisfied with the quality of work, the price considering that it was done correctly, and the Total Handyman Experience. I'll hire this company again for outside work when it gets a little warmer.

Ken Bennett was my contact at Home Experts and he agreed to come out and do an estimate for the repairs I needed. I feel like I explained it very well. I showed him the trim around my door, which needed to be replaced and painted. I told him I wanted to have the front door painted. I showed him the piece of siding that I needed to have reattached to my house after it blew off from a wind storm. I showed him the spot where it needed to be reattached, way at the top side of my house. We had a brief, mix up on scheduling the job but it wasn't a big deal. When a gentleman showed up to fix it, he seemed like he had no idea what he was supposed to do. I showed him the wood that needed to be replaced around the door, but he had no wood with him. After he took some measurements, he left to find the nearest place he could purchase wood. He came back and did the job, but he told me that they couldn't paint the trim or the front door because it was too cold out for the paint. Fair enough. He said someone could come out when it warmed up a bit. I asked about the siding. He had no idea that siding needed to be hung. I pointed out the spot where it needed to go and he told me he didn't have a ladder with him that could reach that high. He offered to go get one. I agreed that would helpful. I had to go run some errands and he told me that was fine and that he would return (with ladder) and finish the job while I was gone. I asked for a final price and asked how to pay him. He had no idea. Said I'd have to call Ken. He leaves. I call Ken and Ken apologizes, but offers no reason why things are not going very smoothly. He tells me that for the work they had done, I would owe him $341.00 but according to the itemized estimate he originally gave me, the cost for the door and the siding (minus the painting) would come to $386.00. I tell him this. He says "Yes, $386.00 is fine." I come back from my errands and yes, the siding is hung and looks fine. I cut Ken a check. The end. No one ever gets back to me about following up on painting the wood or the door. I finally painted the trim, but a couple of days ago (April 21, 2015) I realized that I had some additional trim around the windows that needed fixed, so I thought I would call Ken again and give them another chance. I called that day and left a message on Ken's voicemail describing the new job and adding in that I would like them to paint the door. Here we are, two days later and nothing. No returned call. Nothing. So I log in to Angie's List to find someone else and the site is asking me to review the work I had done by Home Experts. So I am. I probably wouldn't have even bothered if they had at least returned my latest call, but nothing, so this is my response. Did they do the work? Yes. Did they ever follow up on the other work I had requested? No. Did they return or acknowledge my most recent call for additional work? Nope.

I bought the 2 hours for $99. I exchanged emails with the owner to give instructions as mentioned above. I came home to find what had appeared to be ... no work done? Upon further inspection, the worker did touch up some paint and some caulk areas. However, it was a small amount and certainly not our worst areas. I contacted the owner. He told me that the handyman on duty forgot to bring a ladder large enough, and that he would return. And so he did. Upon inspection the second time, things went from bad to worse. Again, the worst areas were ignored, and again, this is the areas where a ladder was needed. Instead, the guy chose some areas where access was easiest, and applied large volumes of caulk. The caulk was applied to poorly, it looked as if kids were finger-painting. I contacted the owner again. He gave me a song & dance about how his handymen do good work. I told him that if he truly thought as much, he should come look at the job done. He agreed to do so, then never came out. At this point, I would have paid the $99 and asked him to never come. Not only did I get a half-job, it's probably worse than no job at all. I really feel as though the $99 deal was a sort of "take it or leave it" thing with this guy, and I couldn't be more let-down based on the ratings that brought me to select this particular contractor.

I first used this firm in October/November of 2014 to address this problem. At that time they charged me ~$1000 to install special material underneath the shingles of the roof. Throughout the winter I had no problems. Then, in early March, I noticed water leaking in again. I called Home Experts immediately and informed them of the problem. Mr. Bennett came out to my home within days of our initial phone conversation and met with me. He discussed why the problem was recurring and promised to revise his work. Within the week the work was revised, with more material installed underneath the shingles along with heating coils to prevent accumulation of ice. Mr. Bennett did not charge me for the second round of work, which I appreciated very much. He insisted I call him if there were a problem in the future. While obviously I was not pleased with the quality of the work initially, I appreciated the honesty and willingness to do the job right. I would absolutely use this firm in the future.
