Very well.
Description of Work: Was told by other contractors that a maple floor could not/was very difficult to refinish to any color other that the natural color of the wood. Lee and his folks said what we wanted would be no problem. So, we had the floor sanded, refinished to a darker color, sealer applied - and it looks great.

Description of Work: Sanded and stained existing entryway flooring. Floor had scratches and pet stains. Lightened up the existing color to better match our style. Looks great, but the new top coat is not as durable as old, which is a function of the products available today as compared to 20 years ago -- mostly water based instead of oil based polyurethane. Very reasonably priced.

Lee came over and looked at the condition of my floors and areas I was concerned with. Approximately 6 months ago I went with a "sandless" option because the floors appeared to be in good shape. HUGE mistake, the only way to get a finish to stick to a floor is to sand....a lesson I learned the hard way! The crew arrived on a Monday morning, removed all my trim and got to work, it took them two days to sand everything down, they hung a "dust catcher" in the doorway and I have to say my cleanup after the job was complete was minimal and the floors sanded so well they didn't even need color, a few clear coats and they look brand new! It took approximately three days start to finish but the results are well worth it!

The salesman showed up on the day I called them and he knew his business. I had some significant dents and scratches in my hardwood floors that he assured me they could get out. He didn't oversell me and said he thought I could get by with cleaning and re-staining the floors. I elected to do the sanding. They did warn me the smell would be the worst after day one and the staining of the wood. They were right. We didn't spend the night in our house that night. The sealant was day two and the smell wasn't as strong and we spent the night in our own home. The following day the smell was practically gone. We still were unable to move things back into the room for a couple of days based on their recommendation so we didn't. I'm please with the way the floor looks. It's very nice. I went with the gold standard finish to protect the floor as much as possible. The only comment to make is I thought it might be more shiny but if it protects it from scratching, I will be happy. Time will tell since the area we had done is a high traffic area.
Description of Work: Wood floors sanded, stained, and sealed. They did a good job of not making a mess in the house. They could have cleaned up the outside a little better but it wasn't a big deal. They gave me an additional discount since they didn't do anything with the quarter-round in the rooms they worked in.

We are so very happy that we found Floor Craft Sanding on Angie's List to do some repair and refinish work on the hardwood floor in our kitchen. They handled the entire process professionally and were very accommodating to our scheduling needs. The finish on the floor makes it look brand new and the repair work is so flawless that you would never know that there had been water damage from a leaky dishwasher. They did an excellent job in matching the floor with the hardwood in the adjacent rooms that weren't refinished. We are overall extremely pleased with their work and give them the highest possible rating. Thank you Floor Craft Sanding!!

The process started with the purchase of a Groupon for hard wood floor refinishing. As the Groupon did not cover the total square footage, a quote was drawn up for the entire job. The majority of the work was to take place while I was out of town for two weeks. The day it was to start the project manager called and said his staff was sick and he would not be able to start. This was fine since I was to be out of town for two weeks and just wanted the majority of the work done by the time I got back. The work was completed in the rooms available but the results were very disappointing. I came home to big splotchy areas of different shades and trash and dust left in the HVAC vents (why weren't they covered?). Despite speaking with the Project Manager a few days before work was to start and clearly stating the floors were to be stained a shade no lighter then they were currently, the foors were lighter and had been only sanded and sealed. This resulted in different shades in different areas and a completely uneven appearance. I immediately contacted the Project Manager to ask about the different shades and was basically told and quot;yeah we noticed thatand quot; and and quot;we don't know why it's like thatand quot;. I guess they just thought I wouldn't notice? Why didn't they try to fix them while I was out of town? I expected more corrective solutions from a company who performs this service professionally. To their credit they offered to refinish a test area and see if they could fix it after I had returned home. This was of course much more inconvenient now that I was back home in the house. Again they did not use a stain (only sealer), the results were slightly better so all of the floors were refinished again. They were again not stained which led to unevenness, although they were a little better. At this point it was obvious I was going to have to have the floors refinished by a different company sometime in the future, so they finished the job and left. I found it interesting that in the other review from May 7, 2012, they did not remove quarter round at the other reviewers home based on their review. The Groupon I purchased specifically included removal and resetting of quarter round trim as necessary during the process. I asked about it when a full quote was provided and specifically noted it on the quote before signing. However, it also was not done in my home which also has stained quarter round trim. I can see where the sander hit the trim and where sealer was slopped up on it. So the company's and quot;surprisedand quot; response to the previous review seems questionable considering the exact same thing was allowed to happen in my home. A service was paid for and not provided. Some other minor quality issues include: leaving bags of replaced boards with nails sticking out of them (only supposed to leave bags of dust) and slopping a big puddle of sealer in one my HVAC vents. Overall I did not see attention to detail shown by this company. Options (stain, matching the quarter sawn grain for replacement boards, which boards to replace, etc) would be discussed with the Project Manager and I guess not communicated to the workers. It was always a surprise to see the results were different then what was discussed. While my floors are 90 years old and had some bad staining issues in select areas, the majority of the floors where in serviceable shape and the results should have been better overall. I'm now hesitant to admit to guests in my home that the floors were even refinished.

I was very pleased with the selection of their carpet. Their sales staff is really knowledgeable about the different grades of the carpet and different price points of the carpets that I get for my money. Their selection of the colors was nice as well. Their installers were very nice; they chatted with my children, they were clean and cleaned up after themselves. I rate them very highly.

Went very well. They completed the work while we were on vacation. My only complaint was they left the bags of sawdust, sandpaper and stain cans for our trash pickup (which I knew they would do) but, the bags were way too heavy for our trash men and I ended up redistributing the trash in several bags. One bag also got wet which significantly increased the weight of the bag. I spoke to Lee about this and he seemed surprised, but said he would talk to his crew.
Description of Work: Refinished hardwoods in 3 bedrooms and a family room. Installed hardwoods in front hall. Repaired hardwood in one bedroom. In the future I think I would have chosen extra coats of polyurethane for increased shine and protection. The new floor in the front hall matches very well with the family room, which is original (~50 years).

I have a 1950's home. The floors were not in terrible shape, but they didn't look good. They were worn, yellow and had bare spots. I hired Floor Craft Sanding to come in and refinish my floors, and the process was so easy from the initial estimate to the final viewing. The crews were efficient, the color was perfect and there was almost no dust whatsoever. The water finishes they used didn't smell too much either, which was a major bonus and allowed me to sleep upstairs in my home while they finished the downstairs. They even accommodated my limited schedule by agreeing to do it over a weekend (Friday/Saturday) when their crews were available and when my roommates were gone. The schedule they set up worked out brilliantly, and I was able to get all my furniture back in before I had to go back to work on Monday. I cannot have asked for a better company to do my work. Their price, well... I've heard you get what you pay for, and I got what I paid for - and more. They aren't the cheapest, but they are the most professional and timely contractor I've ever worked with. Thank you so much Floor Craft Sanding! I love my gorgeous and quot;newand quot; floors!
Description of Work: The hardwood on the main floor (700 sq ft) of my Broadripple home was refinished. It was sanded, stained, and 2 coats of Low VOC water-based indoor air quality certified polyurethane (Semi-gloss) was applied. They used a Dustless Refinishing System, and I didn't have to clean a thing before moving my furniture back in.

Floor Craft Sanding did an excellent job of refinishing our floors. From the initial contact with Lee Huffman to the final stage of sealing our floors, everyone was helpful and responsive. Lee provided a competitive quote to sand, stain and seal the floors. The quote was detailed and complete. We scheduled the process within a couple of weeks. The crew was respectful of our home and focused on the job at hand. I sent an email to Lee on a Sunday with a quick question and received a response that day! Our floors are beautiful and look like new! I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to refinish their hardwood floors.
Description of Work: The floors were sanded down to the original wood surface then stained and sealed. This was a three day process to complete the job.

The original appointment went well. The manager showed up on time and gave me an estimate very quickly. They were not the cheapest but I thought they would be the best overall value so I booked them. The sanding team showed up on time and immediately went to my gas stove and yanked it from the wall to see if there was a 220 outlet behind it, which there was not. He then, without putting my stove back, asked where he could find one so I showed him one. I really couldn't understand why he couldn't have just asked me to begin with and it just floored me that he didn't even have the courtesy to move the stove back where it was. The next day, they were scheduled to come to put the first coat of urethane on. I assumed since there was no other time given that they would be there at the same time as the previous day. I waited and waited and finally called the manager who told me that they weren't scheduled for another few hours and apologized for not letting me know. The rest of the job went smoothly. However, I'm not 100% happy with the quality of the job as there are several places where you can see very pronounced swirl marks from the sanders and also there is urethane halfway up the quarter round trim. Also, I agreed, at the urging of the manager, to pay to have the shoe moulding taken off so as to protect it. However, this was not done but it the charge was still on the final bill. I did call the manager who took the charge off after my pointing it out but had I not pointed it out I would have been charged for a service that they did not perform. It just seemes as if there is not a lot of communication between the management team and the crew as the crew doesn't seem to know what exactly needs to be done, what has been promised, or when to contact the customer. I would not use them again and would, in fact, go somewhere else as they charge a premium price but don't deliver premium work. Update: My quarter round is not painted but stained. I have taken in on and off before with no issues such as having to restain it but now I know I'm going to have to take it off becuase it has to be stripped and restained as there is urethane all over it.

I'm sorry to hear about the gas stove issue. Much of the time, it is easier to simply look behind appliances and determine if there is a 220 line for our machines than ask- b/c many customer simply look at us, shrug and say " I have no idea". I'm sorry that they didn't ask you- as it is clear that was an important part of this process for you. When they didn't find one (as some of the time, despite it being a gas stove, there is also an electric hookup too) I'm not sure why they didn't put the stove back. Distractions perhaps; I don't know. I do know that when you called and notified us-we made ourselves available at your convenience to put the stove back. I don't think you had us do it- but we did offer anytime to correct that issue. As for the quarter round- it's a this or that option. If we leave it on- there is a strong chance that it will get finish on it and need painting. If we take it off and reset it, you're guaranteed to not only paint it, but also caulk it. In the end, though it didn't get done as expected, it ultimately was a time and money saver for you, because when the crew showed up, they made the game time decision to leave it on. Why? Because some floors we can sand right up the quarter round without leaving any old finish behind on the floor. Yours was one of those. Much of the time we can not. Our invoices are generated directly off of our quotes- and the removal and reset of the quarter round was an oversight. Thank you for catching that. We do not expect our customers to pay for services we didn't render. Thank you again for the work.

They did a beautiful job on some bad looking areas on our stairs and landing. The guys that came out to the house were really easy to work with and had a lot of experience. They were even able to finish the job early because we had some company coming to visit.

Sam came out promptly for a quote and was the lowest bid we received. Work was scheduled the following week. Floors were sanded and one finish coat was applied on day one with final coat applied day two. Our project was challenging in that we selected a product that was new to FloorCraft. It would puddle and since our home is 50 years old, the floors were not always perfectly level. Also, there were bubbles and bumps that were visible. The color was beautiful so they continued to work to provide a professional result. The customer service was outstanding. I am picky and they gladly came out two more times to check out the surface. The owner and number two are very professional and patient. They clearly take pride in their work and want the customer to be happy. The crew was just a bit less so in that they didn't take my concerns quite as well. Nevertheless, I would definitely call them back for more work.

Member, Thank you for your feedback. You're right, it was a new brand of finish to us, and though it was supposed to have some superior qualities, it did not work quite like we had hoped. That being said, I'm sorry you ended up with the troubled floor. We work with all of these manufacturers all the time, and this was a fluke product from them that we haven't used since. But thank you for being patient with us as we corrected the issue.

Everything was scheduled quickly and Floor Craft was very flexible. Our floors now look beautiful, probably better than the day they were installed. The whole process was easy and we would recommend Floor Craft to anyone refinishing or adding hardwood floors.
