Angel Oak Tree Care

We’ve been very pleased with their services overall. The head technician, Steve, is an arborist. He’s professionally trained, and his son is following his footsteps. All of them are very professional, courteous, and do good work! Their website is informational, too.

The service was great overall! I’d use their services again. I wasn’t there while they were doing the work, but they had a quick response and did a good job overall.

You get what you pay for with this company. I took 4 bids from Angie's list all with 20+ A ratings and this company was the lowest. I sent them a signed copy of the work order and it took a couple of phone calls to get a date set to do the work (that should have been my first clue to call someone else). The owner finally called and set the date to do the work. That date came and the crew didn't show up to do the work, no call from the owner (that was my second clue I should have called someone else). I tracked down the owner again and he said they were behind because of the rain and would be out the next day. When the crew finally arrived they didn't do half the work they were supposed to do (didn't do any of the dead wooding of the oak tree) and the work they did was not professional. They cut big gouges in my tree with their chainsaw when they cut off a large lower limb that really looks sloppy and unprofessional. To cap off the day they stepped in my bush and broke off a limb (leaving a big hole in my bush) and left all kinds of tree branch residue in my yard. More than a trash bag full that I had to clean up. I called the owner and told him he was going to need to come out and explain why I should be satisfied with the work that was completed. The owner came out and agreed the work hadn't been completed as agreed and the work that was done (gouging my tree) was not done right. He said the crew didn't correctly read the instructions which is why the dead wooding wasn't done. He apologized for his crew's lack of professionalism and for damaging my bush. He said he'd have his son come out and give the bush a fertilizer treatment at no cost. I'm not holding my breath on that. When the crew came out to complete the work they conveyed a bit of attitude presumably because I had complained about the quality of their work. The dead wooding was completed but again they left a trash bag full of twigs that had to be clean up in the yard after they left. This company has a long history of favorable ratings so maybe my experience was an anomaly but I'd never hire them again.

I called and left a message, they didn't call me back, but arrived a few days later to assess the tree. We only wanted it cut down, not removed. A few days after the estimate, they came back to do the work. They were very professional. I forgot my checkbook at work and they came back the next day to pick-up the check.

Their service seems to be working. They will come back out if there is a problem. The only problem I had was that their invoice was a little vague.

They did an excellent job. They made the trees look much better and much safer. They cleaned up the area pretty well and took away what I had cut and stacked all year - at a very reasonable price. This company was a big help to me and I am grateful. Another thing I liked really well was that I did not have to babysit this company or the project.... Steve just got it on his schedule and got it done. Quote was written quite well also. He gave me options and professional advise.

They came the same day that I called. They removed a tree branch that had fallen on my fence during a storm. They came out right away which was very helpful.

They were very professional and prompt. The cleaned up very well. I would use them again in the future.

They came out and treated it with injections. They were very good. It looks like the tree will survive. They only had to remove a couple of branches and cleaned up very nicely after the removal. They were on time and the estimate and cost was reasonable.

They did a great job! The silver maples were thinned out and trimmed very nicely. The blue spruce were removed, including the stumps. The pear tree was lightly trimmed, as we requested. The mess was cleaned up nicely. No problems.

They were very good. We would continue to use them.

They did a great job, they also saved some trees for us. Their communication isn't as good as I would want it to be. They were professional and had good pricing.

We started using Angel Oak about a year ago based on positive Angie's List feedback and were very happy with their servcies last summer. The owner came out and assessed our landscape, suggested we do deep root fertilization (which we did at a cost of $575), and signed an annual contract for tree and shrub pest management. I was impressed with his knowledge and their approach (only treating when signs of pests are present). They also trimmed some trees, removed a couple dead trees and replanted one with a beautiful Japanese maple (fortunately this tree is still doing well). This was all done at a reasonable price as we had received a couple other bids. We were so pleased with the service that we renewed the contract for pest management again this spring. I'm not sure what happened to the company this year, but the service has gone completely downhill. When I noticed in late March (shortly after we signed annual contract) that one of our white pines and blue spruce (that Angel Oak planted last summer, so was still under warranty) were showing signs of distress, I immediately called the owner who said he would be out in a few days to look at it. After several more unreturned calls, the owner finally came out to look at the trees in late May, so 2 months later than my original call! (by this point the white pine was completely dead), gave me a quote to remove the white pine (which I agreed to) and said he would remove dead branches on the blue spruce and that I should water it more frequently. When I received the service report for removing the white pine (on 5th June), the technician reported that it died from IPS beetle and that he sprayed our other 4 white pines to prevent spreading of the bug. At this point, we discontinued our annual contract with a faxed letter (which we never heard a response to) as we felt that it didn't make sense to pay for this service if concerns were not being addressed in a timely fashion. Today we noticed another one of the white pines looking very bad and I'm guessing we will lose this one too. I am very disappointed that we had a pest management agreement with Angel Oak and appears that we will now lose 2 very large white pines to the IPS beetle and believe that if they had been more responsive to my initial request for them to look at the first tree in distress, we may have been able to save them both. I updated the grading of this report as Angel Oak did respond to the initial report and offered to remove the 2nd dead tree for free and the owner explained he has had some personal issues this summer, which has reduced his responsiveness.

It went excellent. I've used them many times. I think they do a great job.

This afternoon a truck and trailer for Angel's Touch Lawn Care, run by Angel Oak Tree Care, parked out in the street in front of my house while the Angel employee got ready to mow the lawn of a neighbor's house. I asked the Angel guy on the truck if he could instead park in front of the house whose lawn he was mowing, since I wanted to park one of our cars in the street in front of our house to make room in the driveway. Combined with the long trailer holding all the lawn equipment, the Angel truck took up all the space in the street in front of our house. I could have parked my car in front of a neighbor's house, of course, but I thought it was a reasonable request since nobody was parked in front of the neighbor's house and he hadn't yet started. Unfortunately, instead of either just moving the truck or politely declining the request, the Angel employee on the truck rudely told me that he could park anywhere he @%#$ wanted and that if I didn't like it I should call the number on his truck and he'd tell me what I could do with my car. I don't know if he did a good job of mowing my neighbor's lawn or not. But based on my first and only interaction with a representative of Angel Oak Tree Care, I would caution other Angie's List subscribers that you may want to look at other companies for lawn service -- outfits that don't hire people who are rude and verbally abusive in how they deal with neighbors and potential customers.

The job went well, particularly the shaping of the old crab-apple tree. Workers showed up earlier than promised, which was a very good thing. There are two reasons for not giving an A+ all around was that the clean-up of dead and removed branches was not the greatest. Several cuttings were left for me to dispose of. The second is that Steve has not contacted us either by phone or with a visit to inspect the work his men performed. We have a couple of questions, not earthshaking, just things we'd like confirmed.

I had written an unsatisfactory review on this company a couple of days ago do to failure to return multiple calls concerning this tree and their previous estimate. Either as a result of that review or just a coincidence, I received a call from Mr. Streve Courchaine apologizing for the lack of a return call explaining that he had some personal issues. Additionally he stated he would have a crew out to my house today, 23 May, to service the tree. His word was kept-- the crew arrived this morning and completed the work in a timely and professional fashion. As a result of this most recent response and work completion, I would have this company again.

It went well. I went with them because they had a wood chipper and none of the other places did.

I've used them for years. They are very good and dependable. They are a pleasure to work with. They also provide lawn treatments.

They seemed to know what they were doing.

I don't know what else they did. It's been a year and I can’t remember. I have them on a contract service right now. They just haven't gotten here yet. The last time they came out to do work was last year. I like the owner’s knowledge of what they're doing. They are not very good when it comes to punctuality, but I am pleased with them overall. We haven't used anyone else for a long time.

Selected Angel Oak based on their reputation and quoted price for the job. Steve was friendly and provided a nice itemized estimate. The crew was careful to protect the property and clean up after the work. The trimmed trees look very nice and no longer pose a hazard to the property.

Steve had done the initial evaluation and his crew came out to do the work. They were very considerate and caring about not taking off too much of the trees. They were also wanting to keep the natural shape of the trees and they did a very good job of that. Since some branches that needed to be removed were over the roof top and over the skylight, the men were very careful to not let any of the branches touch the skylight and to not damage the roof. They also did a great job in cleaning up all of the debris. About a week after this was done, I felt that one more branch needed to be removed. Steve did come out and agreed with me. We were trying to get this scheduled when the early December snows came so I would anticipate this being done in the spring. Overall I am very satisfied and would (and have) recommend Angel Oak Tree Care.

The locust tree had an infestation of Mimosa webworms in the very top of the tree - about 30 feet up. They sprayed the for the infestation and it was successful in stopping the spread of the webworms and killing what was there.
