Angel Oak Tree Care

They are superb and excellent. They are professional and I would recommend them.

There was only one "negative" with this company, but it was a very big one. Their estimate for the work (actually done by A Simple Man's Tree Service) was approximately 3 (yes, three) times greater than the best bid. Perhaps they just did not have the ability to perform some of the work, but the bid for the partial removal of two trees was absurdly high. I'm submitting this report in hopes that people check with more than this company if they are working on a budget.

Submitted info via email through Angie's List and they contacted me quickly with an estimate. Then came out within the next 2 days and sprayed the tree. Haven't had any problems since.

Called back very quickly. Very polite and considerate on the phone.

Steve was very prompt in responding to our request for an estimate (which was free). His estimate came in well under 2 other competitors. The crew spent the better part of a day doing the work and did a good job cleaning up. Good service, good price, good experience.

When I called to make an appointment for an estimate, I had to leave a phone message to which the owner replied very promptly. He arrived at the appointed day and time to go over the work I was interested in having done. He occasionally asked if he could make some suggestions based upon things he noticed as we walked through the yard. I approved his estimate and he thought his crew could come do the work in two to two and a half weeks. However, we received a phone call three days later asking if they could come that day to do the work as there had been some scheduling changes made that would enable them to do the work that day. We said ok and they were there within the hour. They did extremely good work and cleaned up after themselves. We are very pleased with the results of their work.

Arrived on time. Worked quickly. Left no mess.

I e-mailed my request for an estimate in the late afternoon. Steve called me back within an hour or two and we agreed he would stop by my house the next morning for an estimate, which he did. I asked if he would also haul away an old railroad tie, which he agreed to at no extra charge. His quote was $560 to cut down the bushes and trees and another $100 to grind down the tree stumps. He also told me that I would get an additional discount of 15% because I was a member of Angie's List. I told him I was getting additional estimates. Angel Oak's estimate was the lowest of the 3 estimates so I called Steve on Friday to tell him I would be signing the estimate work-order and mailing it back; however, I wanted to be sure the work would be done when the ground was hard so there would be no gouges or tire tracks in the yard. Steve said he could do that. On Monday morning, just as I sealed the envelope to send back the estimate, Steve called and asked if he could go ahead and send a crew out that day. We agreed they would come out yet the same morning. About 2 hours later, two fellows arrived and in about 3 1/2 - 4 hours, had the entire job done. They said that keeping our yard clear of gouges and tire tracks was a priority and they did a great The trees and shrubs were put through their grinder and hauled away and clean up was excellent. The two fellows who did the work were very pleasant and professional. I will use this service in the future and will also recommend them to others.

Angel Oak gave me an estimate that was lower than 2 other companies. They came out within a week of confirming service. Steve explained how he would prune and trim our trees and the benefits to the trees for doing it that way. The crew that came out were very friendly while being very professional. They explained their work and answered all my questions. When I called to pay my bill, they mentioned a new promotion they had and that my bill would be lower than first expected. Our trees look great!

They did a really nice job and were the least expensive. They didn?t leave any mess and took everything with them. We would use them again.

I had a great experience working with Angel Oak Tree Care. The only problem that we ran into was that there was one stump that I did not want to have them remove. There was a large stump left over from another company that they were going to grind out and leave the small one. They forgot about the agreement and they ground out the smaller one instead. Overall I loved the work that they did. I would use them again in the future.

His people are always polite, clean up, and do an excellent job. It's quite interesting to watch them.

They did a very good job of trimming my tree previously. I was very happy with them, and when I had a problem with another tree, I called them to look at it. I called 10 days ago and spoke with his wife to set up an estimate, and he was to have called me back. I have not heard back from him yet. I had trouble with him previously when he did not respond to another of my requests for an estimate, but because he was sick at the time, I forgave that lack of response. I had hoped that this time he would have responded, but he again has left me without any response. I would not consider using him now. It is September 19th, 2009 and I would like to respond to the company. When I called the company, the owner's wife repeated the numbers back to me and the phone numbers were correct (cell and home). They also had my home phone number which they never attempted to call. The owner stopped by just the other day and left a note in my mailbox. The note said they had attempted to call and the phone number written on the note was incorrect. The fact remains that they could have checked the phone number or called my home.

They treated the bush to exterminate them.

They provided an estimate within a couple of days of contact. I agreed to the work upon being given the estimate and the work was completed within a couple of weeks. The crew did a great job on the trees and cleaned up so well that it was hard to notice any evidence on the ground. I will definitely be using them for all future tree work.

They did everything they were asked and earned every penny. They did a great job and our home no longer looks like a rainforest.

I thought they did a good job. Steve Courchaine, who owns the company was very knowledgable. He came out and analyzed this as well as directed the work. He also has a degree in forestry which is nice. His crew is certified Arborists, which is good because they know what they are doing. I found him to be very fair and his analysis was based upon the work that needed to be done. He didn't seek to raise the price by doing work that didn't need to be done. I felt comfortable with his credibility and honesty. My only caveat would be that he indicated he would replace some firewood that was mistakenly removed and would repair a fence that was damaged in the course of this work, but that has not occurred as yet. Overall though, this was a positive experience and I would hire him again.

Steve's crew came out and performed the services. The job was very professional and they cleaned up after themselves. My husband requested that they take a couple of additional limbs out of the tree and Steve gratiously obliged. I can't recommend them enough.

He did an excellent job on the tree. He is always punctual and his price is very reasonable.

Prompt eatimate and work done well.

They helped us get a couple of trees back to life. They were pricey but more professional than other companies.

They did the original work in VERY cold weather and with a few inches of snow on the ground. One tree was really leaning toward the house and they cut it down very professionally. Because of the snow, not all surface roots were visible and they offered to come back in the spring if I found any roots that were missed. Once the snow finally melted and I checked for remaining roots I found a few. One phone call to them was all it took. They returned to my home well within the (reasonable) time-frame they promised and promptly and professionally took care of the remaining roots. I am 100% satisfied with their service.

I got three quotes (and three different opinions!) from three different arborists. Angel Oak's was the lowest estimate. Steve was prompt about responding to my initial call for an estimate. I wound up not having the work done at that time, but called several months later for his opinion on a couple of points brought up by the other two arborists I had called for estimates. Steve returned and gave me his opinion and a revised estimate (this one including trimming vs removal). A couple months later (right before Christmas), I sent in the estimate to approve having the work done. I didn't hear from Steve until early in the morning January 19th, when he called and left a message on my phone saying he wanted to send out a crew to do the work. I happened to be out of town, and didn't hear the message until late in the day the 20th. I figured I would return the call after I returned home. When I returned the evening of the 21st, I found they had been out and the work had been done. As far as I can tell, they did a good job -- the trees look good and debris was cleaned up, including several brush piles I had in the yard (which they didn't charge me for). The job was probably a little difficult because they had to work close to power lines and garages, but there was hardly any sign that they had been there (except for the trees being trimmed, of course). I would have rated them a bit higher, but for the fact that it took a few weeks to get back to me to set up the work, and I would have appreciated them holding off on doing the work until they'd talked to me on the phone to confirm -- I would have liked to have been there and not been surprised to come home and found it done. I also found a corner of my concrete birdbath broken off and the gate of the fence (which is old and probably came loose easily - I never use it) off of its post and leaning against the garage. (I also had changed my mind about having the lower limbs raised on the spruce, and thought I had mentioned that in the letter I included with the estimates, but I could be mistaken.)

It was in an awkward position near other trees and power lines and they had to use a cherry picker. Their truck got stuck in my back yard. They had to call a tow truck and finally a large tow truck took the cherry picker out. At this point the yard was rather messy. They came back a few days later and tidied up the yard. They stacked the wood and raked up sawdust. The owner promised they would come back in the spring and reseed the damaged area where the truck had been pulled out. They are very careful and methodical. I am planning on having them do some other work for me.
