We worked with Todd for the initial meeting. Todd is a very good salesperson. He was extremely helpful in terms of helping us match existing wood trim in our home and selecting a window that would be effective without costing an arm and a leg. He was also very understanding when we explained not wanting to replace one window due to wanting to wait until we re did the entire bathroom. I would absolutely get in writing exactly what you are getting in terms of the windows down to every last detail. He managed to get our budget out of us and then matched the windows he ordered to the budget we had. They were not exactly the same windows he showed us when we met in person. Case in point. The windows we were shown had metal security clips and metal locks. The windows installed have metal locks only. The security clips are cheap plastic. My latest complaint and my reason for writing this review is I contacted Todd on June 4, 2012 via email to see what could be done about numerous broken plastic security clips. I'm guessing the clips may be out of warranty but I can't get anyone at Windows & Siding of Indianapolis to email or call back. I would not do business with Windows & Siding of Indianapolis again.

The owner of Windows and Siding of Indianapolis (WSI) was invited to provide a bid to conduct the scope of work. The owner visited the house and showed us window styles, proper insurance documentation, photographs of past work, and a proposal. He was courteous, friendly, sincere, and a very good salesman - this is a compliment to him and his profession. Shortly after the visit, we signed a contract and paid a down payment. The windows came in on time and an installation schedule was established. The work was to begin on a Friday and be completed Saturday, the following day. I took a day off work on Friday and my wife scheduled her work as a nurse around the installation date. On Friday morning, the work crew did not show up. The operations manager at WSI was apologetic but could not send a replacement crew. The next day, Saturday, a crew of 2 people showed up on and began the installation process. The crew worked hard, and performed quality work acting in a safe manner but did not finish as expected. The owner never called to apologize. The same crew finished the work on Tuesday the following week. The crew installed 9 windows and the sliding glass door. Again, their work was done with precision and care. The crew acted in a safe manner and cleaned up after themselves. The owner forgot to order the 10th window so a new installation date had to be established. When the 10th window came in, the installer arrived at our house and said he was not prepared to install the window because of the awning located directly below the window. This fact was not communicated to the installer by the operations manager at WSI so a new appointment was made to install the window. The next visit was by 2 installers who successfully removed the awning and replaced the window. Unfortunately, they did not install the wood that borders the window as was done on the previous 9 windows. The house has a total of 16 windows and 6 were replaced a few years earlier. When the proposal was given, the WSI owner agreed to match the wood trim of the 9 new windows with the existing trim. In fact, they dropped off the wood, I painted it and they cut it to fit except for the second visit when they apparently ran out of wood. Instead of purchasing the wood and installing it, they walked off the job after the window was installed, and considered the work assignment complete. Obviously, the job was not finished at this point, but no call from the owner. The wood trim needed installing around the 10th window. In addition, we discovered several leaking windows, that is, air was entering the house through gaps between the window and frame. The reason for the leakage was due to the fact that the the gaps were not caulked. We discovered that some gaps were caulked in the 10 windows and most were not. I called the owner again to set up an appointment to complete the trim and caulk the windows. The appointment was set and a crew of 2 people completed the work. I paid him the outstanding balance of $500 and considered the project complete per the contract. Let me summarize, the owner visited the house 2x - once to sell the product and once during the 5th visit by installers. The installers were at the house 5x to get it right for a project that should have taken 2 days and 1 visit as was defined in the proposal. The owner never offered an apology or offered to discount the contract. In fact, when I showed my displeasure to him about the multiple trips necessary to complete the contract, the owner defended his employees and workmanship. To add insult to injury, I referred a co-worker to WSI early in the purchasing process and never received a thank you from the owner, let alone a finder's fee or similar. Needless to say, we will never use WSI for any type of work ever. In fact, a neighbor stopped by and said to me the windows looked great, and were in the market for windows. After telling this story of how we were treated to our neighbors, our neighbor's will not seek a bid from WSI. I joined Angie's List to tell this story to inform people who may be considering window replacement to beware of the lack of action following very smooth words.
Description of Work: Ten windows and one door was replaced in a 2-story suburban home built in 1987. The door was replaced with a sliding door and screen.
