He got the down payment, dug the hole and left. I took him to small claims court and he has filed for bankruptcy.

First quote state $260 for pea gravel. We then received separate bill from gravel co. for $561.35. First quote listed $260 as included in the total amount of $3820. We had to pay BOTH amts. and then the concrete began to crumble, an entire corner broke off causing a section of the barn to collapse. Upon further inspection, the depth of the foundation ranges from 9 inches to 17 inches but quote from contractor states that depth should be 1 and 1/4 foot (16 inches) AT LEAST in all areas. When we complained of first additional gravel cost, contractor gave us copy of original quote with the amount of pea gravel whited out and written over with labor explanation but monetary amounts did not change. When we called him about this, he refused to come out and explain the charges and then ceased to return messages. Only when we threatened to contact the Indiana Attorney General did he show any interest. Only then (and begrudgingly) did he pour the cement to the depth originally prescribed and even then the problem corner continued to crumble and my amateur husband had to pour a reinforcement which has held and been a better quality product than that of the so called professional.
