 + -1 moreI hired this company based on the review it received on Angie?s list. However after the work they did on this home I have no idea how they got an ?A? rating. They were supposed to get a building permit by law and they did not get it even though I was informed that they did get a permit. The most amazingly deplorable part of their job is that they left a 240 Volt connection unprotected at the rear of my home. All someone would have to do is place their hand on this connection and they would be electrocuted. I?ve contacted showcase electric three times written to emails and still no reply. Their work with sloppy, they went home leaving Romax wire hanging over the door, is the technician was leaving I asked him if he labeled the new circuit breaker box with what the breakers controlled. His response was ?oh you want that labeled? ?I could go on and on but I think you get the point. What was supposed to take one day took two days. The owner of showcase electric, Tim Dumas, talked to me into moving the meter from the utility pole to the side of my home. Unfortunately he did not have the permission of the electric company to do so but he charged me for this anyway. The worst part is that his company left the meter base open. All a child would have to do is to stick their hand in that base and they would be killed.

Also, when I scheduled someone to come for an estimate, they called and informed me they would be 10 minutes late! Impressive work. I would not hesitate to call them again. It was a difficult job and they earned every penny I paid for the work.

 + 0 moreGreat! He showed up on time, was polite and professional. I needed an outlet installed on an outside wall, but wasn't sure if there was still an active line to tap into. He spent quite a while trying to track down circuits and figuring out whether we could avoid having to run a new conduit (which would cost a lot more money). That day, we ended up thinking that we would have to run a new conduit. Later, I found where a new circuit box had been installed that we could tap into, and let him know. He said it was no problem and when he came out he did exactly that, installing the new outlet and dropping the price back down. Quick, easy, and very reasonably priced. Also, while he was doing the estimate the first day, I had another potential electrical problem to fix on a light fixture inside the house. He climbed up and inspected the fixture and said there was nothing really to fix, just needed to replace the fixture, which I did on my own. No charge for that, and saved me $$ for being able to fix myself.

 + 0 moreProvider installed a ceiling fan in the guest bedroom. I took advantage of a special offer from company that was $150 to install ceiling fan. I already had the ceiling fan as it had been taken down from another room couple years ago. Then there was a second ceiling fan in another room that was installed by a friend but it didn't work. Provider was able to change the wiring and had it working in just a few minutes. I also asked provided about the doorbell, which had not worked for years and he quickly checked the transformer, etc. He gave me information about purchasing and installing a battery operated doorbell. The provider was punctuaI, arriving exactly at the scheduled time. He answered my questions patiently, worked quickly and was very professional. I will certainly call this company again for electrical services!

I would recommend him because they are quick, fair and do a great job. The clean up and never leave a mess. They do a really good job. When they give you a price, that is all they charge.

 + -1 moreErick came out on October 9 to give us an estimate for a standby generator. He had been held up the day before, but called and we rescheduled. He was on time. He was informative and knowledgeable. We got other bids from other contractors, but decided to use Showcase. I contacted Erick and sent him a deposit check. The small company has been very busy, but I had to contact Erick (via e-mail or phone) a few times to confirm receipt of the deposit check, to figure out scheduling, to confirm the date of installation, and to confirm the time of the installation. Each time, he was completely responsive - but I thought that coordinating the logistics and informing the customer should have been something he was tracking, not leave it to me (or leave me wondering). That is the end of the gripes that I had - very minor and understandable. Erick came out on a very cold November morning before Thanksgiving and installed the entire thing by himself. He coordinated the utility company (in this case REMC) and building/electrical inspector, in addition to doing a nice neat job with the wiring retrofit in our garage. He finished the job in one long day and came out the following day to make sure everything was to his standards and to give us an overview of the unit, how it operates and tests itself, how to maintain it (or have it maintained), problems to look for, and when to call him back for service. We have a couple other small jobs on the horizon, and I hope they aren't too busy to fit them in - we would definitely use Showcase Electric again.
Description of Work: Showcase Electric, LLC, and Erick in particular, installed a whole-house standby generator, including a separate switch box, electrical and gas connections, and helpfully - giving us instructions on its operation.

 + 2 moreThey repaired and moved the generator (where it was placed would have melted the siding on my house), installed the outside box and changed the previous set-up for the generator in the basement which would not have worked properly. They set the generator up to come on automatically and also to come on weekly for maintenance. They installed two outside lighting fixtures and fixed the kitchen island lights which had not been completed in earlier remodeling jobs. They fixed the electrical plug for a stove in the upstairs kitchen which had not been done up to code. They checked outlets and light fixtures to make sure they were grounded and checked a ceiling fan I had been having trouble with recently. They arrived on time and completed the list in one day. They cleaned up everything and did not leave any left over wires or electrical clippings behind. They will continue to maintain the generator on a yearly basis and I will call them if I have any electrical issues in the future. I am extremely pleased with their work. Since I am a middle aged woman who lives alone and knows nothing about construction or electrical issues, I think they were honest and fair and did NOT try to take advantage of my situation by charging high rates or doing shoddy work. I will also recommend them to my friends who are considering purchasing a generator.

He gave me an honest estimate for the repairs and installations. Tim and Eric both are personable and detailed professionals. I appreciated their service and attention to detail in the installation of the home panel box and transfer switch with an outside inlet for a new portable generator. I appreciate the reasonable rates and being able to get the job scheduled and completed in a timely manner. I live in a small town that is outside their service area and was grateful that they were willing to drive the extra distance to take care of my generator issues. I would highly recommend this company for any future electric projects, either big or small. Thanks for everything! A word of caution to those who are considering purchasing a generator. I purchased what I thought was the latest model of the generator brand that they sell and maintain. The online company did not send me the latest model that I paid for, but I don't know anything about generators so I thought I paid for the latest model. They found the model had been dropped and had to move the fan and components inside the generator that had been damaged. They also found that in 2012 someone had manually hooked up the generator and used it for 50 hours. Knowing what I know now about online generator purchase, I would never purchase a generator from anyone other than a licensed representative of the generator company. I did not "save" anything. Live and learn.

 + 0 moreErick gave us a very detailed estimate with all parts and labor listed. We had concerns about the base for the generator. Erick provided pictures and we worked together to come up with a solution to answer our concerns. Install was done on day promised Erick and Tim worked very hard to overcome issues with mud and placement of previous utility lines. Erick, Tim and Sam did a great job cleaning up, even with the mud issues. We were provided with an invoice that reflected changes due to our issues with the base and placement of utility lines. Other than the changes, it was just as expected with all the line items listed. We were very happy with the whole process, communication lines were open the whole time, and we will use Showcase again.
Description of Work: Provided whole house generator (22 kw) with transfer switch, installed and set up to test once a month and to come on automatically when power goes out. Also ran power lines to garage with no electricity previously.

 + -1 moreMy hubby was checking off his honey-do list and sadly it didn't go quite as well as expected. What should have been a simple socket replacement turned into several hours of frustration trying to figure why changing out a bathroom socket would kill the 2 way light switch in the hall. Several weeks passed before I asked a neighbor for any ideas and Showcase was recommended. I called the next day and spoke with Tim, the owner, and explained the situation. I was fortunate to be able to be added on to his schedule the same day. Tim arrived promptly; was very friendly and professional. The problem was resolved quickly and he made sure everything worked correctly in the hall and the bathroom. Of course while he was at the house I thought of a couple of other items on our to do list and we will be calling Tim for future projects that require his electrical expertise!

 + -1 moreTim took extra time to explain to my wife and I alternatives to consider in replacing the kitchen overhead fixture and did so in a way that made it easy for non-electricians to understand (not an easy task). I did not feel like he tried to "upsell" us. He was very professional. I will definitely use him for additional projects.
Description of Work: Tim showed up on time, even though the property was not easy to find. It was one of the coldest days this year. He toured the property and reviewed our list of tasks to be performed. We asked him to fix an exterior light fixture that illuminated the house at night, to repair a broken light switch in the basement, to add new light fixtures in the garage for improved lighting, to repair an exterior electrical outlet for the backyard waterfall to keep it from tripping off when it rained, and for suggestions on an overhead kitchen light fixture.
