 + 1 moreHe did a very good job at a reasonable price. However, the work was scheduled for 9 a.m. and he didn't show up until 11 a.m. (after I called him at 9:45). He said he forgot to check his schedule. Despite that snag, I will definitely call him again and would recommend him to others. He was professional and nice to deal with, and I have no complaints at all about the quality of his work.
Description of Work: He replaced a bathroom vanity and the vinyl flooring in the same room. He also replaced a toilet paper holder and towel ring, and fixed a leak beneath the sink.

 + -1 moreMr. Powell came very promptly to give me an estimate. He was willing to research my husband's request to add window tinting film to our skylights and gave us a prompt answer regarding the cost of these. The team was very careful, professional, prompt and pleasant. They also helped us move our furniture, including our grand piano, and were extremely careful of our thirteen-foot high, six-foot wide rubber tree plant. Mr. Powell ordered and installed the window tinting film to our skylights even though it meant keeping the scaffolding around while the film was being shipped.
Description of Work: They painted two hallways and our entry way/living room areas which both have a cathdral ceiling. They did some minor drywall repair around our skylights and helped us carefully move our grand piano (!) as well as other furniture in order to accomodate the painting. Additionally, Mr. Powell researched adding window tinting film to our skylights, ordered the film and installed it.

Description of Work: We are remodeling/redecorating our kitchen. Purchased a new stove that required the counter top to be modified. Rick cut the counter top in three places. One cut was to correct our attempt at counter top cutting:) He sealed the cut edges to prevent moisture from damaging the counter top. He remove a cabinet and planed it down to assure an accurate fit for the new stove. He also answered countless questions we asked him about cutting crown molding.

 + 0 moreHe came over to look at what I wanted done and gave me an estimate of the project. He cut down slightly the closet doors to fit; attached the hinges and added door knobs (he had brought those). He worked diligently, quietly and left the room clean. I asked about some windows, he gave me some recommendations (including what I knew were great windows), but also mentioned just new glazing to keep the wood frames. I have storm windows and have difficulty in cleaning all four sides of the glass. .
Description of Work: He replaced slider doors with opening/swinging closet doors that I already had. He did a very neat job! I have other outdoor projects that I will ask him to do in the spring/summer.

 + -1 moreThe entire process took 4 days, mostly because of the scaffolding necessary to reach everything. The crew was punctual, very courteous and worked quietly as well as efficiently. Mr. Powell had his crew move the furniture for us and was especially careful to move our grand piano as little as possible. Everyone was very careful with our 16-foot-tall rubber tree plant and did a great job working around it. We were very pleased with the low VOC paint used which was a great help to the allergic members of our family. The mylar film on the skylights was an additional job that was mentioned at the end of the painting estimate process, but Mr. Powell was very persistent in finding a product that would work as well as one that could be shipped in time to apply. He also let us know immediately of the additional cost of the film/labor/shipping cost so that we knew how much more to expect to pay.
Description of Work: We had the entryway, one stairwell, one hallway and the living room with cathedral ceilings painted. Also, we had mylar film applied to 5 skylights to take out many of the UV rays that had been fading furniture and carpeting and producing too much heat in the summer.

 + 2 moreHe would call if he was going to be late, pick up the parts at menards which was up the street from me. I now live an hour and a half away and might need to holler at him for a whole day of work because our house built in 1900 needs some help. It was completely restored but in a poor quick manner.
Description of Work: Richard was my handyman for a long period of time until I moved and i would highly recommend him and his company. I moved to Lebanon so I miss having him as my handyman but if you all need one in the Bloomington area give him a call!!!

Description of Work: I found Constructive Innovations thru this site. Rick, the owner, the first project was to see why I was getting water in my crawl space, once it was determined he fixed the problem and extended my outside rain spouts so this would not happen again, the next project wIas to re-do the handicapped ramp in the garage, it works sooo much better and it is longer and I have had sooo many compliments on his work on this, I was the first one to tell him what a wonderful job he did, the next project was to put shelving in the room I call the office and to keep extra things on hand, this was also done better than I had projected it. His next item to do is to re-do the handicapped ramp from where the porch ends and to extend about another 30 feet and I requested that it also have a roof over it (I have a daughter with multiple disabilities and she is in a wheelchair and I wanted Rural Transit to pick her up and take her to Stonebelt the mornings that she goes) the existing ramp is not long enough. He and the guys he has working for him will start on this later this month (since it will require a new building permit, he has to submit plans to get the permit needed to start on this.) Since I found his company, HE WILL BE THE ONLY ONE WHO WILL DO WHAT I NEED TO HAVE DONE, I CAN'T RECOMMEND HIM ENOUGH. ON THE DECKING I MENTIONED SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAD USED AND HE CHECKED TO SEE WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST, PRICE WISE, AMOUNT OF CARE IT WOULD BE ON ME TO KEEP IT UP AND OTHER FACTORS. He emails me what everything will be. Again, I can't recommend him enough and anyone who uses him will be totally satisfied with his work and the amount of time doing each job.

He arrived punctually and later in the day emailed me an itemized cost-of-repairs list. After I compared his bid with two others, I gave him the go-ahead and he told me when he could get started on the work. He arrived on the date specified and only an hour later than he'd said. His work and that of his two assistants was first-rate, and I'm happy to be able to recommend him to others. Ken Rogers
Description of Work: Rick removed the old dining room ceiling and a section of the wall and installed new drywall and textured and painted. It took a little longer than he said it would initially, but the quality of the work made up for that.

 + 1 moreWe found Richard through Angie's list and though he didn't have tons of reports, the ones he had were positive. We explained the situation - a window won't stay up. This window would need to be repaired or replaced in order to be compliant with the city code, as it is in a rental property. Of course we wanted to go with the less expensive option, repair. I appreciated that Richard tried very hard, on his own time, to investigate this option, contacting the manufacturer about the replacement part. We discussed by phone and decided that a replacement was the only viable option. He picked a good window at a good price and installed it. The tenant and I were very pleased with his work. He is communicative, intelligent and personable in addition to being skilled at his work. These are important traits to me, and I was thrilled to find the "whole package" in this company. I recommend him without reservation.

 + 0 moreThe first job the Rick did for me was in June. I got his name from Menard's when I purchased my ceiling fans. He came out to install 2 ceiling fans, and in the process he discovered that I had a bad switch. He replaced 2 ceiling fans and a bad switch for $45. I was so happy with his work, that I called him to come back this month to install a new bathroom vanity and bedroom light. He picked up the vanity set from Menard's and disposed of the old one. After installing the vanity, he realized my mirror was too tall and needed to be cut. He made a "spur of the moment" call and took my mirror,had it cut,and hung it. All this work only cost me $175. Rick is a very personable,reasonable,and professional worker. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
