After performing an inspection and telling me what needed to be done I was told that I would get a written estimate and work could be started. After many attempts to contact him and leaving several messages I gave up and found someone else. I would have appreciated knowing up front that he didn't have time to deal with my house!

I found Rick and his crew to be thorough, highly skilled and knowledgeable, and absolutely professional. They are a pleasure to work with! Rick assesses the situation, explains it and offers options, is responsive, and does the work on time and well. He bends over backwards to make sure everything is done to perfection and also goes beyond the call of duty to rearrange his work schedule, for instance, to help out when an inspection deadline is pending for a sale. HIs crew is efficient, capable, and make sure everything is completed in a clean and proper way. I have complete trust in Rick's judgement, and on all occasions found that the money was well spent. All along the way, I felt he was working FOR me, and sensitive to my issues and costs. He stands by his work, and is very proud of it - that makes a big difference in how he operates and attends to your needs. I'd recommend him wholeheartedly! He is the best in Bloomington!
Description of Work: I have worked with Rick on big projects twice - first to totally redo my crawl space to eliminate water seepage and damage, and then a few years later, to enhance some other outside drainage issues to prepare my home for sale.

I had to switch from conventional to FHA financing at the very last minute in my home purchase, and FHA requires that stacked block piers have this cement applied. I was under a huge time crunch, as we found out about the foundation inspection less than a week prior to my closing. Rick's team was able to respond very quickly--in fact the day I called. I was so grateful! They took digital pictures to send to the inspector, as sometimes that eliminates the need for a reinspection, which could save o costs. That wasn't the situation in my case, but I did appreciate that they went to this measure. There are definitely cheaper places out there, but Rick's team was professional and responsive. I'd definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: Installed surface bonding cement to stacked block piers to make the foundation for my manufactured home comply with FHA inspection guidelines

Rick Pauly, Evergreen's owner, met with us after we had talked to the engineer, and outlined all that should be done to remedy the problems. He explained it all very clearly, presenting it as a "cafeteria" from which we could choose what would be done. We told him to do it all. Evergreen brought in a team of four or five men who did the first two steps last fall. They worked hard and kept in touch with us whenever there was a question about repair options. They cleaned up the site, and were always courteous and good-humored in their dealings with us. In the spring they came back and did the exterior grading; and late in the summer they poured the walkway. Rick Pauly or one of his sons oversaw all the steps of the project. It cost a lot, but it had to be done, and we felt we were treated fairly.
Description of Work: After we bought our house, we discovered several serious problems overlooked by the house inspector. The walls were cracking and there was water in the crawl space. We consulted an engineer, who confirmed that the main beam was sagging because its spans were too long, and that the crawl space was leaking a lot of rainwater. Evergreen (1) installed additional support piers and shimmed up the beam; (2) did very extensive remedial work in the crawl space to remove damaged vapor barriers and insulation, waterproof the foundation, provide drainage, and facilitate ventilation; (3) graded the lawns away from the foundation and extended downspouts; (4) installed a new front walk sloped away from the house so water wouldn't pool against the house.

Description of Work: After a 6-week delay in providing an estimate & schedule, and failure to respond to numerous phone messages and texts, and even a fruitless visit to his office, he then phoned and promised a meeting and a written estimate within three days. He did not meet with us and did not provide an estimate. We have had no further contact with him. He talked a good line, had what seemed like a perfect plan for the work we needed done, but did not follow up at all. This was to be a significant project, and we have no idea why he did not follow up as promised. He is supposed to be an expert in his field. He caused a whole summer's delay. If he didn't want to to the work, he should have just said so, and we would have hired somebody else. So unprofessional; anybody who hires him should be very careful about trusting him to finish anything he actually starts.

It took us calling and writing emails just to get him to come look at it. This was the second company in Bloomington where it took pulling to get them to come out. All we wanted was information and a quote. We wanted to know what was happening and get an idea about how much it was going to cost us. We also wanted someone we trusted. He had done some work in the neighborhood. He didn't even get back with us or give us a quote. Amazing that we would have trusted him, but he would n't even quote us. Must be very picky about who he wants to work with.
Description of Work: Came out to our home to look at the corner of our basement where we had water had shown up in the corner and had caused our carpet and the padding to get wet. We had already had a couple of people look at it and tell us what we should do to fix the area... several different ideas. He looked at the area and showed us all around our house where the foundation was settling and where we needed to work on the plumbing and fix some of the cracks in our foundation,

The job was finished several days ago and there happened to be a big storm the next day. Water was effectively moved away from dwelling and directed to storm drain, no water entered the crawl space, nor even the exterior crawl space access door and well. The analysis and design of work to be done was professional and provided a comprehensive solution. Once started the team was effective, efficient and worked quickly to get the job done. Would definitely recommend Evergreen to others. Pricing seemed competitive with other providers, but their solution was more comprehensive than other providers.
Description of Work: Encapsulated of crawlspaces under 2 side-by-side duplex units, with installation of drainage, sump pump, and dehumidifier. Adjusted exterior swales and landscape to move water away from dwelling and refurbished the exterior crawlspace well and access doors.

We went with Evergreen and Rick Pauly because we heard they were the best in town and we are glad we did. They were pricier than other places but the quality of work could not have been matched. You could eat off of our crawlspace, it is so perfect now. I know that our crawl is as protected as it can be. The work crew was very professional. They showed up on time and when they were done they picked up every single rock out of our grass. You could not have known that they were there (besides the work they did). Great attention to detail, which is what you want when you have someone doing this kind of work.
Description of Work: Cleaned out the crawlspace, replaced car jack supports, built new solid house supports, leveled ground, installed drain around edge of the crawl, installed plastic coating to the entire crawlspace, built new crawlspace door, installed new sump pump and piping out.

I spoke with Richard at Evergreen to schedule a time for an estimate on installing vinyl cap flashing and a flood light. When the time came for him to come over, though, nobody showed up. I gave him a call and he said that he was out all day due to an injury. I understand that these things happen, but was extremely disappointed that he did not pick up the phone to re-schedule the appointment. We did re-schedule a time after I called, though, and when he came over he was very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. However, his final estimate on the work was pretty pricey. Between the no-show on the original appointment and the expensive estimate, we decided against Evergreen.
Description of Work: Had Evergreen Home Improvement give an estimate on installing cap flashing over exterior doors and a floodlight on the back of the house. We did not choose Evergreen to perform the work.
