The service technician was very friendly and did a good job of explaining everything he was doing. He offered me a 30% discount on their service plan which I declined and he did not apply additional pressure to purchase. He explained to me how I could change my humidifier pad on my own. He then offered me a discount on their duct cleaning but I declined and he did not apply additional pressure to purchase. I was very pleased with his service.

Mr Donny Brown came out and inspected my ac unit. It took him a full 15 minutes to tell me my wires on my compressor were burnt off, and had stated in my receipt the terminal was burnt as well.Wanted me to commit to buy a new unit for approx 4,800. Sorry I declined, he seemed upset. I was able to repair my unit with a lug repair kit for 38.00 ordered online. These guys are scam artist, will say or do anything to make a sale. Buyer beware.

We had been customers of this organization before it was taken over by the conglomerate it now has become. We were customers of the original Dillman company of Columbus when we moved into our home in 1999. We've had several 1000 dollars in improvements over the years including a new furnace & A/C as well as an electronic air filter. The ratings for the company before this last 18 months would have been acceptable. That all changed in this last visit. We have had a yearly service contract every since day one. It used to include a bi-yearly visit to inspect all equipment as well as the cleaning of the air and electronic filters. The charging of any needed gas to the A/C unit which of course was extra which I understood. As the unit was fairly new we hadn't needed any replacement parts until this last visit. There was a weak run capacitor for the motor that should be replaced. I'm aware of such a device having replaced on in a garage furnace that I service myself. This part can be purchased by anyone at a local parts store for anywhere from $10 to $20. I was appalled at the price they charged me. $89! The tech stated that if it's installed on a non-scheduled call it would be $161 plus the minimum service call. I found the box it came in next to the furnace and searched out the brand online for a price. It's a Totaline brand carrying a parent brand of Carrier, made in China, for $5.15. Not even a high quality replacement part. I'm sure that Dial One gets them for a lot less in bulk amounts. Pretty heft markup for sure. Makes you wonder what the markup is on more complex parts. There's more! The tech stated that the filters were pretty dirty and he would clean them for an additional $25. Huh??!!! That used to be included in the bi-yearly service contract. I've got the invoices to prove that one. I opted out of that one and after he left I went to check the filters. They hadn't been cleaned for at least a year or more judging by the dirt. I was never informed of when cleaning was extra so they could have been uncleaned for a longer period. One final issue. The a fore mentioned electronic air filter was not operating! Some inspection! I determined that it's power supply crashed. I'm fixing that one on my own as Honeywell still makes parts for the unit. God only knows what Dial One would charge for it. In conclusion I must say that this organization is in the business of making a lot of money. Why else would you buy out several service companies? I fully realize that people are in business to make a profit. But there's a difference in making a living and trying for a 'killing'. We're going local after the service contract is up. I've found a local HVAC tech who can give us a service contract and not gouge us on replacement parts.

In short: An absolute disaster of disorganization and disinterest. The long version: We were wanting to do something about the temperature differences in our house, which could be extreme between the finished basement where we spend much of our time and our bedroom upstairs. If one is comfortable, the other is either sweltering or freezing. So when Dial One Hour came out for our semi-annual maintenance, I mentioned this to the technician. He said that a new, programmable thermostat would fix all of our issues. I wasn't so sure, as it seemed more likely that zoning would be the answer, given the nature of the problem, but he said that he'd have his boss come out and look and if we went that way, we'd need the new thermostat anyway, so we paid for the service and scheduled an appointment. A week later, the local leader/sales guy shows up and says that yes, this will require zoning and quotes us a price. We put down about $600 in mid-April. He says that he'll need to order some dampeners that should come in in about a week, then he can schedule the work a week or two later. This works for us, as summer is still a ways off and our vacation isn't until late June. What follows is literally months of apologies and excuses. The parts are taking longer than expected. The wrong parts were delivered. And so on and so forth. At the end of June, I am sitting in the airport on my way overseas when he finally calls and tells us that the parts are ready, over two months after all of this started. Fed up, but hoping that the end is in sight, I agree to devote a day of my time off to letting him and his team do the work. They say they'll show up at or around 9. 9 AM passes. 9:30... 10 AM and I finally get a call with yet another apology. Some guys called in sick, trying to get backups, I'll call you back in five minutes, etc, etc. An hour later, I call HIM back and he asks if we can reschedule for the weekend. He offers me $50 off for the trouble. I sigh and agree that they can do it the next Saturday (July 6th, at this point, note we started in mid-APRIL). The guy shows up late, in large part because I wasn't told that he'd be coming from nearly two hours away and wouldn't leave until I answered my phone, so I needed to be up hours before the visit was scheduled. Once he does get in touch with me, though, he heads right over. The tech that came over was kind, courteous, professional, competent, and hopelessly lost. The sales guy, who I have been going back and forth with for nearly three months, and always told me how very committed he was to getting this done right, left him no notes on what exactly the tech had come to my house to do. Just that handful of parts that we had been waiting on. I explained what the general goal was, as best I could and the look on his face clearly said "You gotta be kidding me." He then spent over an hour trying to get the sales guy to answer his phone. When he finally got a response, he came in and said that he thought that it might be able to work, but he had no idea that he'd need to be running ductwork as part of the job, so he'd have to drive back to Indianapolis to get parts (an hour+ each way) and there was no way that it would get done today. Over the phone, the sales guy promised us $400 off if we'd go through with it We threw in the towel. Enough was enough. The installation guy said that he understood and that someone from accounting would call us in the next couple of business days to see about returning our deposit. Over a week later, (July 15th) I tired of waiting yet again and called their accounting department to get my money back. Since we didn't technically have any work done, the nice lady said, they were going to have to deduct $89 from our deposit for a consultation fee. She said we'd get it back in two to three business days. I'm not holding my breath. UPDATE: We did receive our deposit back, less the $89. Thankfully, it only took twice as long as promised.
Description of Work: We requested that the company upgrade our HVAC system to provide dual-zone coverage to our house. The request was cancelled before it was completed.
