The whole process took two days. We were on a bit of a timeline because we wanted to get the floors done before we moved in. Bruce stuck to the timeline and the end product is unbelievable. Worth every penny!
Description of Work: My husband and I recently bought a house that was built in 1960. The home has hardwood floors in the living room, hallway, and back three bedrooms. The floors were dull and needed some love. Bruce came in and refinished the floors. They are BEAUTIFUL!

No issues, everything went well. Bruce met or exceeded all expectations. Floors look great. Pricing was competitive. Bruce endorses using a water based poly coat rather than oil. Now that the job is completed I believe water base was the right choice. He can be difficult to get a hold of, however he always returned calls, and showed up on time. Project was also completed on time.
Description of Work: Sanded, stained, and poly coated oak floors in kitchen and entry area, burnished and poly coated remainder of floors on the main level. Total area treated was 1,100 sq ft.

Bruce is a true hardwood floor professional. From quote to execution, he did everything you expect from a professional - on time, courteous, calls with questions, listens to requirements, sets expectations, delivers on what he promises. He really took the time to explain the process and the expected outcome, which was very helpful. We appreciated that he was not shy about sharing risks based on our specific floor and needs. The finished job is fantastic. We are selling our home and the refinished floors certainly have the "wow" factor.
Description of Work: Refinish hardwood floor.

Realtors recommended him; contacted him and within days he came over to provide an estimate on replacement flooring (parquet). Despite being in the midst of several jobs he took the time to put together an estimate for the work, most of which was labor. I didn't proceed with the project because I didn't buy the house.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate for refinishing and installing parquet floors. Mr. Johnson was highly knowledgeable and clearly had excellent skills. Two different realtors had recommended him as the best wood floor installer and restoration person in Bloomington, which is easy to believe. He came over on short notice, took measurements and worked out a quote within a few days. In the end I didn't buy the house. The wood flooring was going to be very expensive (almost 10,000 for the living room/dining room and den), most of which is labor. The detail needed to install parquet to match old parquet however is serious and not be left to amateurs. I would ask Mr. Johnson to work on any wood flooring project I may have in the future. He's first rate.

We had used Bruce before and had recommended him to friends, who were happy with his work as were we. He is, simply, the best floor guy around and his work is top shelf. Our only quibble with him on this job was that he didn't get the job done exactly on time, so the project took longer. I suspect he may have over-committed that particular month, but I don't know. He had a helper, who was very good and Bruce was in and out on some parts of the project, but was on top of it. Having said all that, he did an amazing job of matching the wood to wood we had installed 20 years ago and the room looks wonderful. We both doubt that anyone else around could have done this job with the same results.
Description of Work: Remove carpet and install wood flooring to match previously installed flooring and built our surrounding steps in sunken living room

See above for details. It went so well and the finished flooring was so impressive to some friends of ours, they hired Bruce to do their floors as well and were as pleased as we were with the quality of his work.
Description of Work: We called Bruce Johnson on a recommendation from a friend because our 20 year old Pattern Plus flooring was looking like, well, a 20 year old floor. Bruce did a wonderful job and brought the floors back to life, so that they looked brand new. Unfortunately, when we were putting furniture back, we scratched the floor and we horrified with what happened. Bruce came to the rescue (again) and came back and for a small fee (or no fee, I don't remember exactly), he fixed the mistake so that one couldn't even tell. Fast forward to present: Bruce is once again working on a project for us, replacing carpeting with wood flooring. So far, things have gone well, if not quite as quickly as we would prefer given that he is very busy. Yet, so far we have no complaints because he and his helper worked a Saturday and Sunday to get started and fit us in their schedule. Assuming the project is done on time, mid-October at the latest, I'll post another review.
