I give them an F, but he died so I don't even know if the company is still around. It turns out he did work for two or three people in the neighborhood and they all had problems. I called and left complaints and messages for about six months but they would not return my calls. Meanwhile my roof leaks in my garage and I lost a good portion of my ceiling because it is damaged.
Description of Work: There was a guy called Beyers Roofing in Bloomington.

Description of Work: BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Had a new roof put on in Spring 2008 under a supposed 7 year guarantee on work. Within 3 years I had a substantial leak develop in my house. It took numerous times to fix the problem and I had to pay for the ceiling to be painted. Next, a new leak developed earlier this year. This time Beyers stopped being responsive to my requests for repair (still under their worthless guarantee). Now I have to hire a new roofer to fix their mistake and then pay to have the other ceiling painted. If you like having to deal with your roof as a part-time job, just give them a try.

Beyers roofing did a truly outstanding job from bid to clean up. Greg, Jason and their crew arrived early, stayed late and did a huge job in about half the time (roughly 3 days) we were guessing it would take. They were eager to get us exactly what we wanted, very patient (and obviously experienced and knowledgeable) in helping us pick shingle style and color, and always respectful of our property. Most importantly, these guys go the extra mile in all the little, but mostly non-visible, things like flashing and ridges and vents and caps, etc. that ultimately make for an attractive and long-lasting roof job -- and yet their cost was competitive or even lower than competing bids.. A new roof is among the most expensive and important home maintenance purchases you will ever make and it took us a long time to pull the trigger and go for it. The choice of Beyers turned out to be among the best vendor experiences we have had and they earned our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Removed old roofing and put on entire new roof.

Did not use because estimate was $1000 above others. Friend had them do their roof, and he wanted to add $1000 for decking boards. They should be able to closely estimate this by walking around on roof to search for soft spots.

When we first started looking for a roofer we of course went to Angie's list. We were surprised that Beyers only had one review since we see his signs all over town and he had re-roofed at least 4 houses on our street alone. Usually when I read reviews I throw out the best and the worst and look at all the others. However I liked the one review he did have because it was very descriptive and detailed and of course, positive. Next we went to our next door neighbors and good friends who had used him about a year ago and they also gave him a very positive recommendation. We only heard one negative and even these neighbors admitted that his work was excellent, so we called him and he came out to take a look. The first thing that we liked was that his crews could do all the work including the carpentry for the structural damage, but even better his ideas of how to tackle the chimney problem exactly matched my husband's who has been studying the problem since we built the house 20 years ago. Then he showed us samples of shingles and I did not see the color I wanted. He had, however, done a roof in this color 10 years ago so he suggested we meet at that house and take a look. We loved it so he agreed to use those shingles for the quoted price although they were more expensive. We hired him although we got no other bids feeling that this expenditure was so important that what mattered the very most to us was the quality of the work. It is for this reason that I marked NA on the price rating above. I suspect that for the quality the price was also excellent. Now for some details about the work itself: - The crew arrived on time the day arranged. Beyers himself was there for a long time instructing and observing. His overseeing of the job was regular and excellent. He was very careful to watch the weather and the work was done so that at the end of the day there was never a chance that an unexpected rain could do damage. - The crews were polite and efficient. We were painting the siding to be used for the chimney ourselves and I had to paint in one day about 20 - 20 ft. boards. One of the crew came over and helped me do this even though it was not in the description of their responsibility. - The crew did not play any music or radio (with a couple of short exceptions and these were not loud). - They were very respectful of the plantings around the house and objects on the decks and moved all the debris of the old roof by hand to a place where they could be thrown on a tarp and not hurt anything. This was time consuming but I really appreciated it since I have a bed with some rare plants and an organic garden next to the house. I found one nail, one cigarette butt and a few small pieces of plastic after they left and that is all! - The rubble from the old roof that was on a tarp was covered with another tarp at the end of each day so the old shingles would not blow away and for the visual look of it. -The reconstruction job they did on the garage and the chimney was excellent! The chimney is now not only very solidly re-built but looks really great as some aesthetic decisions had to be made. -The finished roof looks better than the original ever did. We are really happy that we chose to have Beyers do our roof and would recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: We had a tree fall on our detached garage puncturing a large hole in the roof and causing structural damage to the rafters. Since the roof of both the garage and the house were in bad need of replacement we decided to have everything done at once. We also had a chimney that had not been capped properly, had a faultily designed cricket, and had to be almost completely rebuilt. Beyers was able to do both the roof and the structural repairs.

The job went well and the workmanship was good. The crew was hard-working and cheerful; all locals, many of whom who had worked together for years. Care and quality extended beyond the shingles to the fit and finish: flashing, skylights, boots, joints, and valleys. The new roof is noticeably sharper-looking than the previous roof ever was. The job site was left clean of scraps, nails, trash…even cigarette butts. Beyers’ website was instrumental in our selecting a contractor. The photos showed the fit and finish we could expect. All buildings were nearby, so we were able to follow up on the photos by seeing the roofs from angles other than the photo angles. Beyers also provided letters of reference from individuals and businesses that we new either personally or by reputation. There were only two problems, and we felt they were well within the range of normal for a job like this one. The seal around an old flush-mount skylight needed a second pass; the problem was fixed the day after it was identified. A glass porch roof panel that was broken during the work was closed to the weather and replaced as soon as the tempered glass could be delivered. The new roof was incidental to a larger remodel, and Beyers’ crew went significantly above and beyond the letter of the contract to help with that remodel. 1. After removing a damaged section of roof deck, the crew carried about 50 bundles of fiberglass insulation up to the roof and lowered it into the attic. The alternative access would have been a nightmare. 2. Having the tools and skills, we had planned to install three light tunnels as part of the greater remodel. Beyers’ crew was willing to let us do the work while they were roofing so the tunnels could be integral to the new roof instead of cut through it later. They offered good advice along the way. 3. Also as part of the larger remodel, we had planned to install two Velux skylights, which require building curbs and flashing. Rather than leaving us to cut through “their” new roof, Greg Beyers had the crew install the skylights for us—no charge. All told, we got a top quality job, more than we expected, and more than we paid for.
Description of Work: The job was to remove the fiberglass shingle roofs and install new ones on our house and three out buildings. The cost included all materials and labor.
