A&E Concrete & Masonry Service

Great ! We needed to replace our porch, steps and sidewalk. Getting someone to come out and give us a price was a real trick. I called A&E and Rob returned my call in about a half hour. He said he was going to be in your area around 5:30, if that was ok. He showed up and gave me a price on replacing everything. He also gave me the pitfalls that I could expect. I really appreciated that. No suprises. I agreed to the price and he said it would be a couple of weeks, due to the jobs they had going. No problem. Well, I had to go out of town in about 2 weeks and he came knocking at the door on Sunday. He had lost our phone number and wanted to know if they could start on Monday. My wife called me and I said YES ! We actually found someone that was willing to do the job. I wasn't home, but my wife said the they did an outstanding job. They were very professional and cleaned up every night before they left. The first day, they cut the concrete and hauled it off. The second day, they made the forms. The third day they poured the concrete. Rob came back the fourth day and sealed the concrete and checked everything to make sure everything was ok. When I came home I was pleasantly surprised at the job they did. There was on little spot that needed to be patched and I called Rob and he fixed it, no problem. I don't know about the price, because I really don't have any idea what something like this would cost. It seemed fair to me, at the time. They did a great job, and I would highly recommend them.

Wow, How did it go? I am telling you this guy and his crew where on top of things all the time. I called on Saturday the 3rd, he returned my call an hour later, came to the house an hour after that. Gave us the estamate, we said lets do it he dropped off equipment Sunday and Monday morning at 7:30am they were on the job got over half of it done and Tuesday finished and also went above and beyound what we asked him to do. His estimate came in competitively. Showed up early for estimate and on time for the job. His crew was polite and efficient; one of them actually showed up 1/2 hour early. The crew cleaned up everything without a trace left behind of leftover concrete. I've seen concrete work done by other crews where large amounts of concrete were left in the yard and surrounding area. Robert even trimmed the doors on the carriage house to create a better seal. Not something we expected him to do. The end result was a very professional, well-done job. We are very pleased and would highly recommend him and his company.

Called to get a quote to fix a broken set of five concrete steps and a sunken stoop. My two level front porch had sunk about two inches and the lower level had cracked and was deteriorating badly. The retaining wall about 10 feet long by four feet high holding up the steps and stoop was also crumbling. Mr Altop came out one evening after I got home from work. Took all the measurements. We discussed different options for replacement of broken concrete and retaining wall.Fir tree blocking front door was also to be removed. No pressure to do all at once. He explained consequence of doing one part and not the other. In the end it made sense to replace the wall at the same time. He gave lots of design options for the stoop. Quote came a couple of days later. Scheduled the work and as it was weather dependent it took a couple of weeks to have it started. Arrived on the Monday and broken concrete and steps were jack hammered and removed ,Retaining wall removed. The old concrete was used as fill and compacted down as the new base. Tuesday they started the new retaining wall and were still working when I got home from work after 5pm. They stayed late until they had got to the point of installing the rebar in the new wall. Everything was covered with tarps as we had storms forecast for overnight that night. Wall completed the next day . Next day forms made and installed to pour the new concrete and steps. Rebar also installed for new stoop. Wall finished off with top stones. New steps poured , new stoop approx 8 x 5 and porch another 8x 5 wide poured. Wall finished off to blend in with other wall already there.Driveway swept nightly and area left clean and debris fee. I was given detailed instructions as to how to care for new concrete, and when I could paint or finish the wall. None of my plants around the original porch were damaged or had to be removed. I had a couple of little stepping stones that he replaced in their original position after the work was complete. All in all the work was done Mon-Friday Mr Altop followed up Saturday with a visit to clean up little pieces of concrete to smooth little pieces under my front door. Very happy with the work , I would have no hesitation in recommending A and E for your concrete repair.

Bob the concrete guy was on the job when promised. And completed the job on time. And reasonably priced.

They quoted the job, I got back to them, we scheduled it for a Monday morning. They were right on time, removed the old sidewalk and poured the new one. Everything was wrapped up that afternoon and the sidewalk looks like new.

I made an appointment to get an estimate from this contractor. He showed up promptly on the scheduled date and looked over the location. He said that he would get back soon with an estimate. He never got back to me with an estimate, He never returned any of the phone messages I left over the next month. If he were not interested in the work, the professional response would have been to let me know that - not just ignore me.

As always, the guys from Aand E were outstanding from start to finish. They were very detailed when working up the quote, talking with me about drainage, and other issues, and they came up with a plan to make everything work. Once the work started, the crew was fast, clean, professional and went above-and-beyond anything I expected. All along they way they were taking care of little things that they did not have to do - resetting a landscaping wall, back filling another area with topsoil, and taking time out to prep a small area on the drive (in the middle of one of their pours) so that my wife and I could add our hand prints. I couldn't be happier. The new driveway is beautiful and I have no doubts about the quality of the work. I strongly recommend using Aand E for any projects you might have. You will not be disappointed.

Took several days to return my call. Set up a time, set by him, to meet at my house for an estimate. I missed a half day of work tyo meet him and he never showed. He called back a few days later and we set up another time to meet for an estimate. I lost another half day of work because he never showed and never called to cancel. I felt like President Bush: "Fool me once, my fault. Fool me again and well I am a fool again"

The first concrete contractor that I tried to contact, never returned my calls after 3 attempts. I then purchased a 1 year membership to AngiesList and found Aand E. They returned my call within 24 hours and setup a time to quote out the repair. The quote was higher than I expected but Aand E explained how the quality of work that they do was above and beyond residential building codes due to their previous experience with large scale projects. They said the repair work would take 1 day and would be able to get to it within 2 weeks. The job was completed in 1 week and the quality was excellent. They left absolutely no mess in the yard or the landscape. A job well done !!

Working with A and E was fantastic. Robbie came out for the estimate and from the get go it was clear that even though we were a small job, he was paying attention to all the details, listening to what I wanted, and doing his best to propose a quality, affordable solution. He noticed potential drainage issues (noted above) that we hadn't considered, and offered several options (including cheap fixes that wouldn't make him any money, so he wasn't just trying to up-sell us) for moving forward. He called back later that day (as promised) with his estimate, and we decided to move forward. From start to finish, the crew (usually 4 guys) was professional, courteous, and very clean. They worked hard every day, were very polite, and completely cleaned up the job site each night before they went home. They were careful to avoid damaging our flowers and landscaping (no small task in the area around the porch), and they were very detail oriented. As the project progressed, my wife and I were amazed at the commitment to doing the job the right way, not just getting it done. Along the way a pretty major change had to be made based on the structure of the original work, and they took it in stride, presented a solution and a very reasonable updated quote, and then made it happen, even though it took considerably more work than originally anticipated. The end result is beautiful - far more so than we imagined when we decided to replace the stairs. They took the time to add purely aesthetic finishing details that really enhance the project and were not in any way necessary or expected. I cannot accurately convey how happy we are with both the finished project and the quality of the team of workers that did the job. Was it cheap? No. But we are positive that the quality of the work far exceeds what we paid for, so it was a bargain. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending A and E to anyone that needs to have work done.
