SIVELLS MASONRY INC

I called and left a message asking for a call back on some chimney work. I gave them two business days to respond and then called again, left another message asking for a call back. It has since been over a week with no call back. FAIL.

Workers were professional and friendly. They cleaned up their mess after completing the work. Everything went smoothly. We are very pleased with their work.

We were absolutely, very satifised. They were very professional, polite, cleaned up nicely at the end of every day. The quality of their work was outstanding. The main chimney was the biggest project and they did it wonderful. We also had them rebrick a basement window and you cannot tell where their work begins and original brick.

I contacted Sivells Masonry after seeing the good reviews on Angies List. Of the three companies I contacted, Scott was the only one to really show interest, even though this was a tiny job. He gave me a free estimate, presented professionally on company letterhead. The price seemed reasonable so I agreed to the work. It took him a few weeks to work us into his schedule, but then he showed up on time and performed the work quickly and professionally. He even caulked a nearby crack with some color matching caulk to make the total repair waterproof. I am very satisfied and will call on Sivells again if the need arises.

I am very happy with the outcome. The sidewalk is done very, very well. They even fixed some repairs that were poorly done previously. I would highly recommend them.

I requested bids on 2 separate jobs: pouring a concrete patio and repairing brickwork/capping a chimney. Scott was very communicative during the estimate process, asking all the questions he needed to in order to understand the jobs. We discussed a couple of options for the patio and Sivells provided price points for each option in the estimate. I got estimates from 2 other providers - while Sivells was not the absolute cheapest, they seemed very committed to performing quality work. That attitude, and the fact that they were rated as "super service providers", is why I chose them. They started the job more or less on time (+ 2 days) despite the adverse weather (heat wave!) and completed it in a timely manner. The crew was courteous and careful to clean up each day. They answered my questions, and kept me informed, even of minor issues (like the garden hose springing a leak). Upon completion, they walked me through everything they had done. I would definitely recommend Sivells for both brickwork/masonry as well as concrete.

I contacted Sivels to perform an estimate on some masonry work for my front porch and did not receive a call back. About a week later, I received a voicemail telling me that Mr Sivels had lost the piece of paper with my phone number on it and finally found it. I ask Mr Sivels to come out for the estimate which he said he would do that day and send the estimate by email. He contacted me the next day and had not gone to my home for the estimate. He was on his way to my home and could not find the location. He got the correct directions and said he would provide the estimate. I have never received an estimate either by phone, written or email. I had heard nothing but postive comments on this company and had friends who used them. This may be abnormal and I really like to give folks the benefit of the doubt but must report a bad experience.

I called Mr. Sivell to make an appointment for an estimate for chimney repair. He called the next evening and said that he would come to give me an estimate on the following Monday. He said that if he could not make it on Monday and he would call and set up a time for Tuesday. I haven't heard from him since and it has been over two weeks. This behavior is very unprofessional and there are enough craftsmen who do this work that I do not need to keep calling him to asking to do my job.

They did a good job, and everything looks great.

We needed some brick repairs around the house, so decided to get some estimates. Based on the excellent reviews on Angie's List, I e-mailed them through this website twice. I believe I also called and left a message. After four business days, I never heard from them. It was a major disappointment.

He was actually the owner, Scot, who I originally spoke to and discussed the project with. When they were onsite, the work was delayed because of the snow that we had. The people were courteous, very professional and worked in absolute miserable weather. They were the most reasonable and responsive company.

Finished product was fantastic. You had the feeling he was treating your project as if it were his own.

I felt the experience with this company was great. They were very customer oriented so they were patient and willing to work to meet your expectations. The team has been doing this type of work for many years and you could tell they worked well together. You could also see that they took pride in their work.

We initially received an estimate from another company. I tried contacting them with additional questions and they never returned my calls. So, I contacted Sivells. Scott came out to take a look at our leaking, moldy, brick-spalling, drafty fireplace and chimney. After much deliberation, we decided it best to tear it down and start over. We placed our deposit in October, but unfortunately work wasn't able to begin until March due to the long winter weather. When the weather finally broke and rare bricks located, work began. Sivells tore down the old brick and exposed the block underneath. Whomever originally built the chimney did a horrible job (no wonder we had so many problems). Sivells took the time to explain what they were doing and even allowed me to watch how they made repairs. Sivells fixed it all up and it looks fantastic. We've had no leaks and no drafts. They also tuckpointed some cracks in the hearth and bricks underneath the window. Sivells was very friendly and considerate. They kept the area tidy while they worked. They tried to work as quietly as possible so as to not wake my sleeping infant. They even carried in my groceries because they had to block the driveway. At the end, they hosed down the deck, roof, etc to clean the dust off. Having made many repairs on our house over the years, I can honestly say Sivells was the best contractor we've ever had. We are extremely happy with the work they did.

Went great. Sivells was the only company out of five that I called who call me back, which is crazy. Scott was at my house that day to give me a quote which was a very fair price. Scott was very responsive throughout the whole process. He even made a special trip back while waiting on my brick to come to wrap the chimney to stop the water leaking. I was very impresssed with him and have already referred him to a friend! Thanks again Scott!

They have done three masonry projects for us. They have done a phenomenal job. They are probably the most professional group we have dealt with. They show up when they are supposed to show up. They are clean and respectful. They are dynamic and we don't often see people like that. They are definitely a great organization.

Mr. Sivells and his son, Alex, were very thorough in what needed to be done. I was extremely pleased with how they cleaned everything after completing the job. They vacuumed inside, and hosed down areas where stone were cut, causing dust. Afterward, they put the hose back in the storage barn for me, without my expecting that to be done. They were very professional, courteous, punctual, and neat. This is the third job I have hired them to do. Highly recommend this team.

Our front walkway was partially removed to repair sewer pipe in our front yard. We called Sivell's out while the yard construction was going on and they were punctual and provided an estimate quickly. They were very flexible with scheduling the repair as we had to wait several weeks for the yard to settle. When they did come, they did an excellent job of working with the remaining bricks and matched the morter so that the repaired part matched the old part! While they were onsite, we also had them repair our 2 chimneys which were both showing some wear and rebuild a sizeable brick planter by our front porch which was also destroyed during the yard construction. All of the workers were polite, courteous and efficient. The various jobs took several days to complete and at the end of each day they would insure the yard was tidy and work area was secure. The outcome was tremendous. The walkway was custom built by the previous owners and we were certain the repair work would be evident, but the sidewalk looks great and they even fixed several places where bricks were loose and uneven - giving the sidewalk new life for years to come! We definitely got our money's worth from this company and highly recommend them!

They did a wonderful job! I was having issues with a window company that I had hired before talking with Scott. Scott advised me to call Angie's List to try to gain resolution with the issues that arose with the windows. I called on a Friday and their media outlet contacted me almost immediately. I appreciated his advise. Scott did the work himself. He is extremely personable. I enjoyed his honesty and his help in my "crisis" with the window company. Whenever I called Scott, he was very responsive and willing to help. He told me that he would help in any way that he could and would do the best that he could to fix the bricks. He performed the work like it was his own house, which is what everyone wants.

I had called for an estimate from Scott and he showed up the same day. I had several small areas of my limestone blocks that were weathered and deteriorating away. I also had a larger repair to replace a section that had been pulled out when I had my retaining walls rebuilt. I was impressed with Scott's knowledge in understanding exactly what was needed. He explained everything he would do in detail and took pictures of all the areas to be repaired. Scott also had materials on hand that matched closely my existing limestone so there was no need to purchase stones. The work was done about 3 weeks after the estimate. I was very pleased with the result. Scott called to be sure I was fine with everything and again he explained what he had done and let me know if there were any issues, to give him a call.

Scott Sivells was prompt in providing a quote and actually slotted my work a head of the scheduled time, which was a bonus. Alex Sivell and crew arrived as scheduled and completed the work in two days as promised. The crew was very professional and respectful of the property. Alex kept me informed of his progress and walked me through the work being done several times. The crew was very tidy and left no appearance of being there, other than a perfectly repaired home!

Services were not provided because the company did not respond to my email request for service inquiry which was sent to Scott Sivells on 9/22/2010. Email was sent from Lisa Swiontek and the masonry work was for my place of business.

As I said time spent discussing with me and estimate presentation was great. Price was the issue.

I played phone tag a few times with the initial request for services and then someone came to my home to give me an estimate for brick repair on a fireplace and tuckpointing the exterior. I was told could probably do the job next week (which I wanted) then I waited 2 weeks and no quote was emailed to me. Since I never received the quote and no one followed up with me to see if I received the quote or not so I found someone else to do the job.

They were a little high in terms of price, so I chose someone else for the job.
