+ 0 moreFrom the initial contact via phone to the training, this was a great experience! They were very prompt in scheduling our estimate and consult (which is free). Curt was VERY helpful and knowledgable and did not try to hard-sell or up-sell us, which was refreshing. Installation was scheduled for the following week and they were kind enough to move the appointment to an early start time due to a conflict that came up on my schedule. The installer arrived promptly, helped me determine just the right 'path' for the fence and did a wonderful job on the installation. Aside from the white flags you can barely see where the fence is buried. Excellent job! The installer was awesome when training both of our dogs...very kind and did not try to lure them thru the fence line or pull them thru (which I've heard other companies do!). Price was very reasonable and we would definitely recommend them!

+ -1 moreI had contacted several in-ground wireless fence providers to understand the differences and really struggled with the price. I even looked into installing the fence myself. After bugging my husband for weeks to "get this fence installed", he found the company DogWatch. It is a well known company (just not in the area) who provided good quality equipment without a bunch of "upgrades." In addition, the cost was a few hundred dollars less than others. After realizing the time commitment and the cost, etc. to install the fence ourselves, we decided that our time was worth the few more hundred dollars that it would take to get the fence installed. They were able to quickly install the fence within a few hours while we watched (clearly this would've taken us at least 2 days). The other companies were scheduling 3-4weeks out. The technician was able to explain the system to us and complete the initial training. We were supposed to call them back to "certify" our dog's training, but never followed through. The system has been great for use with our dog and we feel confident with our decision to use DogWatch.
Description of Work: They evaluated our need, installed the inground fence and completed the initial training for our pup....We have had no need for any follow-up interaction.

+ 1 moreThe owner did my estimate, and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He helped me save money by reusing the existing wire in the ground, even though it was from a DIY system. Most companies won't reuse DIY wire. Installation and training went great, system is working wonderfully. The initial and long term costs for Dog Watch can't be beat. The low cost on batteries alone will save you a fortune! All staff is fabulous - I called with questions and they were immediately and professionally answered. A technician and his wife even came out on a Saturday morning to bring (and install!) and longer electrical cord so that I wouldn't have to have an extension cord running from the relocated control panel. Great company, I have already recommended to friends!

+ -1 moreExcellent. Very professional & knowledgeable, on time, very nice,& great attention to detail. I've had a hot wire and invisible fence before. They were able to install my new fence quickly without any drama. It worked great immediately. They also worked with me on some "extras" I needed for assistance dogs" that I train. Also, I love their system. In the past my German Shepherds were smart enough to out-fox the invisible fence. The dog watch system prevents that behavior. Clearly, who ever designed this system did some careful "thinkin". It has a lightening protection ground and other nice extras in the system's design. They thought of everything.

+ -1 moreIt went great. Dave flagged our property. We already had the wire in place because Sweet Lou is the 5th dog we have had on the Dog Watch system. Dave taught Sweet Lou the initial fence training, and then taught me how to work with her to help her learn the fence. He fitted her collar and checked our system. He would have come back to continue the training, but Lou she learned right away. We have used Dog Watch at 2 different properties for 17 years. + -1 moreI needed a fence and quick. I had researched the fences and companies and found Dog Watch to be the best. (price is average) They were the only ones who were willing to spend time talking to me on the phone and explain their system before they came out to show me the system. And if they didnt have an answer for my questions they didnt lie or make up something that I wanted to hear they simply said they didnt know and would get back to me with the correct information. After interviewing several different companies I had narrowed it down to two and had pretty much made up my mind before they even came out to the house. (One company didnt even want to bother coming out. They google earthed my house and said they could quote me over the phone) Curt came out on Wed. showed us the system, explained our options, (never tried to over sell us) and the fence was laid out on Friday. It took about a month and a half to have it buried in the ground (due to frozen ground) but Lisa and Dave ( I only talked to Curt once. It has been Lisa and Dave who i have dealt with for the majority of the time) kept in contact with me the entire time making sure that I knew they didnt forget me. They're awesome and so patient. It honestly was Lisa who sold me from the very beginning. Everything has worked out so well. NO LOOSE DOGGIES! And it honestly didnt take my dogs but a day to figure out their new boundaries. Will definitely use them again and will highly recommend!

+ -1 moreSimply put, Curt Little is the man!! Was so friendly and knowledgeable through the entire installation process. Located an invisible fence from the previous owner, tracked down the 2 or 3 line breaks and repaired them, used that fence and charged us almost $300 less! Phenomenal. Initial training with our dog was quick and simple and allowed us to continue training. Our dog was aware of the boundaries within 3 days using their techniques. Great, great, great!

+ 1 moreI chose Curt with Dog Watch after doing 2 years of research including visiting every company at the home show for 2 years and having the top 3 companies come out to my home for presentations of the product and estimates. I was very upfront with Curt that I was having other companies come out and yet he was never pushy, actually encouraged me to get the estimates. After all my research I was convinced without a doubt that this Dog Watch system was the most advanced, best packaged, and highest quality unit on the market. This system was not the most expensive nor was it the cheapest and working with Curt has been great over the last couple years. There are many things to know about these systems and Curt really impressed me with how prepared he was when he showed up to my home. I am by far no easy client and was prepared with many questions based on all my research. He came in with a very impressive brief case with the entire system inside including collar options and interior options to show me including the very cool and effective panel that gets installed (this is in my garage). The panel holds all the tools, the brain box, the controls, the manuals, and even the business card of Dog Watch for service if needed. Please do not quote the above pricing as gospel as I cannot remember exactly and I have had Curt out to add items and make changes over the years. When I had this installed they used a machine to cut into the yard and bury the wire. They then installed flags and began training my dogs and both myself and my wife on how this works (dog psychology & training) to ensure the most success. They also came back on 1 or 2 more occasions to check the system and the progress of the dogs. On these visits they do more training and adjust shock or warning levels as needed as well as barrier width. I had 1 dog that continued to test this system many times and Curt reassured me that if I gave him enough time to dial the system in specifically for this dog that Zeke, my dog, would not mess with it. This was a big deal because the 1 dog that kept testing the system was a stray dog we rescued and was used to being able to go roam as he pleased. It did not take long for Curt to get this handled after adjusting all the levels specific to the one dog (while not affecting the easy learner, Cola - other dog) along with customizing his collar; Zeke no longer tests this and neither dog has crossed the border in well over a year....that includes when I have the collars off (which I do often). I have had Curt and his team out to fix areas of the wire that I broke doing yard work near the buried wire that I should not be doing as well as had them out to switch my yard to a figure 8 pattern to keep my dogs out of the front yard unless I wanted them out front (keeps the barking down). I have only had to replace batteries once and at one point I do believe I upgraded the these to longer lasting receivers. I will never use another Dog Fence system or Dog Fence company as long as I live in Indiana and I have recommended this "priceless" system to everyone I know as my 4 legged family members are priceless!!

+ 0 moreWe did not use them. We ended up putting a regular fence. They were very good. Their price was reasonable. They were very responsive. If we had got it that way we would have gone with them but we went with the price of the fence instead. The fence that we put up actually was a lot more money because we have one dog. We know nothing is going to contain him because if he wanted to get out he was going to get out. I don't know their much about invisible fencing but when we talked to them about the problem that we were having they were real upfront about what we needed to do and probably about containing this particular dog. We appreciated the fact that they were upfront. Our contact with them was pretty much just one day and they spend some hours showing us where we were going to have a problem if at all we had. They were here right on time and they were really good. We will definitely use them because they have got invisible fence.

Description of Work: This is hard for me to score/rate this company. When we first had them come out and install our fencing system everything was great!! Very professional, helped with questions and explained everything involved well!! Was very happy with this company at that time. Now, we have gotten another dog 1 year ago and needed another collar. I called to get one and they did not send me the shocking mechanism part when I said I had gotten another dog and needed another collar, I would think you would have just known we needed the whole thing. So then I called back to get the shocking mechanism. Okay, they sent that just fine, BUT, didn't send any batteries to go with it. Finally I got it all and had it on the dog and did the training and all and things were fine, until the fencing system began to have a problem. I called in October 2010 to have them come out and check the fence, they never came. I called again in November 2010 and once again spoke with someone to come out, and they never came. Then being winter there was nothing they could have done with the ground being frozen, so I didn't call. I realize the delay in time/months is partially my fault for waiting so long between phone calls, but they should have come the first time I called in October and scheduled. So now on March 25, 2011 I finally got them to come out and found the dog had broken the line by digging a hole at the fence line and breaking the line. Had his collar been working correctly there would have been no way he could have sat at the fence line long enough to dig a hole and break the line. The repair was made to the fence at this time. I received a new collar for the dog at this time as well. It is a new 4 prong shock collar instead of just a 2 prong. 2 prongs are at the battery shocking mechanism and also 1 on each side of the neck with wires stretching from the shocker to the side prongs. Now today, April 12, 2011, I went to let my dog back in the house and found the wires on one side sticking out of the collar. Not noticing right away what the problem was, I took the collar off the dog to look at it and discovered that the battery shocking mechanism is missing and the prong and wire connection on one side is missing as well. I called to ask them about this, because this shouldn't have just fallen off the dog. They told me to look for it in the yard, which I have no problem doing, but we do live on 2 acres so odds of finding all the probably 10 small pieces of it are slim. Also because the dog wasn't getting shocked, with a broken collar, he had gone out of the fence line. So, this part could be anywhere!!! When I called the response was that the shocking mechanism piece costs basically $250 and I will have to pay that. I personally don't think I should have to. The person putting the collar together either didn't tighten it enough, or it was defective. Their response to that was they could sell it to me for cost then, and that being $150 they said ( talk about a mark-up!! ). I still feel that is not good enough. It is sad to have gone from such a wonderful company in my opinion in the beginning to having a terrible repore with me now. I am just not happy with my service that should have started in October of 2010 but hasn't even been totally resolved as of April 2011. I understand that these things are expensive and you can't just give them away, but I totally don't think this is my fault and good customer service would be to replace it. The collar is just a cheap plastic collar instead of the normal nylon rope type collar. I don't know if this is why the prongs came loose, because you can't tighten them as good on the plastic or what?? Thank you, for nothing basically!! Only main reason for using this company again would be for any repairs to the fencing and battery upkeep on our first collar we have had for years without any issues. All this while our other dog continues to run the neighborhood because of not having a collar.

+ -1 moreThe gentleman that came out and did the estimate was very nice and informative. No hard sell just the information. He and the installer both apparently love animals and were great with our dog. The installer did a great job putting the fence exaclty were we wanted it even though he had to move a portion of it after he'd already put it in. They were very careful of our exiisting landscaping. The installer also did some training with our dog and us on use of the electric fence which was very effective. Our dog figured it out in about 3 days and we've been letting him outside with no temptation on his part to go through the fence. I would highly recommend dogwatch.
