I thought they were very courteous and informative. I feel they were a bit overpriced because they weren't out very long. I thought they did a really nice job though. If I could find a better priced place I would go to them, but other than that I thought they were good.
Description of Work: My garage door openers wouldn't work. They came out and found out why and rewired a place where there were three light switches.

I called them to have them figure out why they weren't wprking. He reset the tripped GFI breaker and that did the trick. I had tried that myself and it didn't work, but they did get the lights on. On a side note, i locked myself outside of my house and he was helpful enough to remove my storm door and get me in. He was here for over an hour so i felt the charge was a little high. I also had him check my backup battery on my sump pump and new told me i need a new pump. I felt very comfortable with the gentleman that did the work, he was pleasant and very helpful. I wiould definitely compare prices next time, but they did a fine job

I got a few quotes for re-wiring the house after an electrical fire. I felt very comfortable with their quote and scope of work. They scheduled the work a few days after I signed the quote and it took about 3 days to complete. I felt they did a great job and even fixed a few additional items in the house that wasn't in the original scope. It was a big job so the owner of the company even came out and walked the house with me and explained everything before they began.
Description of Work: Had a fire in the house that burnt some electrical wiring in the house. They ended up re-wiring the whole house, including changing outlets from 2 prong to 3 prong grounded outlets, and installing a new fuse box.

Frye Electric worked diligently for 2 days from morning till night in the cold weather until the work was done. They dug waste deep, repaired the electrical and cleaned up afterward. They also had to pull up some of the sidewalk as well. (They called someone else to do that but managed the process). They were exceptional as a company and as individuals and I'd highly recommend their electrical services to anyone.
Description of Work: I live in a condo where there are 3 entrances and 6 units. About 6 months ago I added a fence to my patio. Last week (a very cold day) a guy knocked on my door and was from the electric company after management of the condo called them out to inspect a power problem in the building. Evidently the problem was with the condo association and not IPL (power company). The problem appeared to be under one of the fence posts I'd had recently installed by a general contractor. I hired Frye Electric and they dug under the fence post until they exposed the electrical, which was also under a concrete base. Once exposed Frye Electric found the electrical problem which had signs of electrical tape around wiring. They then repared it. IPL had to come on sight before and after the process to turn off and back on the main power.

This is follow-up to an earlier report. After the work was complete, I decided to install a dimmer on one of the lighting circuits. After flipping the breaker, I tested the switch for power. To my surprise, it still had 120V to the switch. After some investigation, I determined that they had tied two (2) circuits together in a 3 gang switch box. In addition, they tied two (2) old circuits together. So, I had 4 kitchen outlets and 6 convenience outlets on one circuit. I called Frye and they sent Cory back out to re-mediate the problem. They fixed this situation with no additional charge. However, over this past week, I have been trying to track the wiring to see if there are anymore "cross-connections" and if they tied the old circuits back into the new panel correctly. I have no confidence the work was installed 100% correct.
Description of Work: They changed a Load Center from a 200A - 20 circuit to a 200A-circuit. Installing convenience outlets in a Laundry Room Remodel.

I called and spoke with a salesman about the work that I wanted completed. I explained that I was a realtor selling a bank owned home with a flooded basement and the bank wanted the service panels moved to the main level and the power restored to the first and second levels of the home and the only thing that was need in the basement was power to the sump pump and the old panels to be removed. I then received a bid that seemed to cover the work that I had discussed with the salesman. I hired Frye electric to complete the work. I was notified by the company that the work was completed. I went to the home to inspect the work before paying the bill. I discovered that there was in fact power to the sump pump however the old panels were still in place and had not been removed as we discussed. Also, there were two new panels in the laundry room with only one circuit breaker in one panel and none in the other. There was still not power to either the first or second level of the home. I then called the salesman and told him that the work was not complete. He stated he would go by the house, check the work, and call me back. Approximately 24hrs later I tried the salesman again and got his voicemail. I left a message for him to return my call so we could discuss the situation. After waiting 3 days from the conversation in which he stated he would check the house and call me back and still not receiving any call, I spoke with the owner of the company who told me the work would be completed that day. Later that same day I met with the owner of the company to discuss the situation. He told me that based on the bid provided they had completed the work and that they would not be doing any additional work. The only option would be to complete the additional work for additional cost. It is my personal belief that the estimate was written in such a vague manor that I do not have any legal recourse as a remedy and therefore I will pay the invoice. However, I would not under any circumstance recommend Frye Electric to anyone in the future. I believe the bill should be reduced by no less than 50% percent do the fact that the majority of the work still remains for some other company to complete.
Description of Work: Installed two 200 amp panels (without circuit breakers), droped in 120 volt temporary receptacle to basement, extended #4 SER cable from existing disconnects to laundry room, disconnected supply line from old panels.

Response from Frye Electric Inc
On January 14th, 2009, our estimator; Greg Wells spoke the member to give him a bid on relocating (2) 200 amp panels from a flooded basement to the main level and get power to a sump pump. Upon arrival Greg called the member and offered his insight; Greg suggested that we rerun all existing circuits from the water saturated panels to the new panels that he wanted relocated to the main floor and gave a price of around $6,800.00 to do this; the member declined and said that he just wanted a price on what we were sent out there to give a bid for. Our proposal stated: 1. Demo the old panels 2. Extend new # 4/0 SER cable from the existing disconnects to the laundry room 3. Furnish and install new 200 amp panels in the laundry room 4. Drop in a 120 volt temporary receptacle to the basement. On the proposal it also stated: Note: The basement will need to be drained prior to the work being done. The member signed the proposal and faxed it back to our office on January 15th, 2009. We first went to the job on January 27th; per members request; under the understanding that the basement had been drained, it had not, so we could not do the job. We then got called back to do the job on 02/10. We arrived on the job on 02/10 and completed the 2nd day, 02/11. There was no price increase for our 1st trip out on January 27th; even the work could not be done on this day; no fault of ours. Member contacted Mr. Frye so they could meet at the job site and go over the discrepancies; Member did not show up. Member then came to our office and it was told to him by Mr. Frye that the scope of work that he asked to have done was exactly what was done, but that we would go back for an additional $2,000.00 to relocate the existing circuits. This is a discounted price from what Greg originally spoke to him about. Member declined. We feel that we went above and beyond what the proposal stated and this is a fair and just price.

I originally had Frye come out to provide an estimate for this service. The estimator told me they would match any offer as long as it was not just a guy doing electric work out of his pickup. After getting the estimate from Frye, I had a competitor provide and estimate. The competitor was lower than Frye by 40%. I informed Frye of this other offer, they matched it beat it by about $20. The crew arrived on-time and was knowledgable .They did everything they were supposed to do, and did it in a timely manner. I was happy with the end result and the end price.

I had two outlets that hadn't worked in many years though three other people had investigated and couldn't find the solution. They checked the outlets, the GFI outlets, circuit breakers and went in to the attic to track down other outlets on the GFI. After approx. 30 minutes they were able to find another outlet on the same GFI with a loose wire that was preventing the outlets from working.

They were very courteous. I never had a problem with them what so ever. They were nice. They came in and took care of business. They were friendly. They answered all of my questions and never got impatient with me. This has been a few years ago, but when I used them they called me and told me what time they were going to be there and showed up at that time. They had a slight problem getting the wire inside the front, but they kept at it until they got it.

A repairman came to my house to review a list of repairs and provide an estimate. I thought that an outside outlet was not working. The work was done fast and they were very easy to work with. When they came back to take the lights down, I forgot to put out a box for them but they were still able to find an easy to reach and handy place to hang the lights for when I returned. It was very neat and tidy and easy to store. I was very happy with them!
Description of Work: I needed my home decorated with outdoor holiday lights and I'm thrilled that Frye Electric can now do this! My estimator was great, and gave me exactly what I wanted - including taking the lights down after New Years. I read that LED lights use a lot less electricity and that's what they are installed, so I'm really excited! They came by and installed the new Christmas lights. In January, they came by and took them down and organized them for me for next year.
