He provided us an accurate estimate, gave us a timeline of the work to be performed, and was willing to make adjustments to best fit our needs (did not try to upsell). He kept us informed on when he would be arriving, what work was to be completed on that particular day, answered any questions we had in regards to the building process or materials used, and left a clean worksite each day. The pricing was fair and Chuck was willing to make adjustments to help us save money. The end product was a phenomenal porch that has added significant value, aesthetic appeal, and most importantly, a great place to relax and spend time with family.
Description of Work: We hired Chuck's Construction to add a covered back porch to our house. We were looking for a 24'x12' porch complete with lighting, ceiling fan, stairs and railing.

I received a few quotes and Chuck was by far the most affordable while not jeopardizing quality. He and, his team, take their work very seriously and from start to finish were able to exceed me and my wife's expectations. Chuck came to our house multiple times to finalize the plans, review colors, details, etc. My wife and I felt very comfortable moving forward knowing exactly what we were going to be getting...and he did not disappoint! Our finished product turned out to be everything we had hoped but even better! Chuck was here every day with his crew. He would provide regular updates with the progress and plan for the next few days. His crew was very nice and would clean up their materials/waste each day. It's hard to give it justice in writing just how lucky we were to find Chuck and we could not be more pleased with how everything turned out. If you are looking for a top-notch construction team you MUST call Chuck!

+ 0 moreChuck did a new roof and new Trex deck for us over the last year. Both projects went very well. Chuck is great to work with and charges reasonable prices. He even added support to our roof free of charge because he saw it needed it! The roofing crew did excellent work and specifically Jose was very thorough trying to get the roofing around one of our skylights just right. Would highly recommend him for roofing or decking. He also has a painter that does exterior/interior.

Description of Work: After reading the Angies List reviews on several deck builders we chose Chuck' Construction to build our 18' by 32' deck ( overall 523 sq.ft ). We made an appointment with Chuck and he came out personally to review our plans and take measurements and evaluate the build site. Our initial thoughts were to have composite decking material used but after reading reviews of most major brands currently on the market and the the expense of synthetics we decided on all wood. The quote for the all wood deck including railings and 2 sets of steps came in at $13.23 per square foot. This included many extra personal touches Chuck added including the railings and wrap around finished with cedar. The pine deck planks were all of the same length not bits and pieces of mixed sizes. Chuck also inspected each plank and used only the best lengths out of the bundle returning any warped, twisted or cracked pieces to the lumber company. He also addressed our concerns about the steps needing to be wide enough to accommodate walkers for elderly parents and adding extra strength under the decking to further accommodate large family gatherings of 20 or more on the deck at the same time. Day one Chuck and workers got all the posts and support structure in place the second day they laid the decking. The cedar trim, railings and 6"X6" cedar posts give the deck a look of true quality. The completed deck looks fantastic and we've had many compliments on how it makes the approach to the front door more updated and welcoming. We can wholeheartedly endorse Chuck's craftsmanship and attention to details.

Chuck stayed in contact with us throughout the project and provided professional suggestions when we needed it. His crew was punctuonal and very respectful, cleaning up after themselves each day. They even nicely dug up our overgrown hostas that were in the way of construction and helped us transport them to the backyard. All our neighbors have stopped to compliment our new porch and we have enjoyed each evening we've sat out there. Would recommend Chuck and his company to anyone looking for quality work at an affordable price. We can't thank Chuck enough for helping us transform the front of our house from an eyesore to th envy of the street!

Description of Work: Retaining Wall - We had a significant drop off at the end of the garage concrete pad. We contracted Chuck and his crew to build a retaining wall that would allow us to extend our driveway about 16 feet deep and 24 feet wide. The retaining wall was about 5 feet high at the far end.

+ -1 moreAfter having a number of contractors create bids on what we wanted done, we chose Chuck primarily because he was the most hands-on contractor of the bunch. I like the idea of the person whose name is on the truck being at the job site all day every day. Once we had a plan in place, Chuck and team knocked out what was a pretty big job in a week's time. We now have an awesome new feature at our pool. Through it all Chuck and team were highly communicative and regularly checked that we were satisfied with the progress. I recommend Chuck and team for your job.

+ -1 moreChuck came over at a time convenient for us to discuss the project. He asked clarifying questions, recommended Trex (which was the material we wanted to use also), and provided us with information that we hadn't thought about (e.g. lights, how different colors of the deck boards impact the temperature of the deck, how to design the deck without a seam down the middle, etc). He quickly turned around the estimate, which not only provided the financial numbers, but also a scaled design of the entire deck. Chuck also dropped off samples of all of the possible deck colors, which was incredibly helpful in choosing the colors. Chuck is great to work with and was very responsive via text, email, and phone throughout the entire process. For example, during the construction process I had a "picky" request for a change from the design that he had provided me and at first we discussed it via text, but then he suggested that he come over to ensure he understood my request. I really appreciated this extra effort and he completed my request perfectly/beautifully. We absolutely love our deck and will have Chuck back to do any other construction job that we might have in the future.

They gave the initial estimate hoping they would not have to replace the underneath part of the deck (joists, etc) however upon tearing out the old deck it was obvious that it needed replaced. Because of this the project took longer than expected, however everyday prior to leaving they cleaned up the work area so that we could still use our pool. The quality of the deck is top-notch. They kept me informed every step of the way. We are very happy with our new deck!

They were very receptive to a few changes that popped up during the job, but Chuck made the changes and it looks great. He added very sweet detail, particular at the base of the pillars, and advised us out of making some poor decisions (which we appreciated). He followed through and delivered on the dates he said he would. His crew was fantastic, and when they left, there was not a sprinkle of leftover debris to be found. Throughout the process my husband had lots of questions and concerns, and Chuck got back to us immediately, and addressed and/or incorporated every concern. Chuck and his team are consummate professionals. His pricing was extremely reasonable. My husband ad I are both thrilled with the result!

He was friendly and personable, clearly very knowledgeable and experienced in his craft, and perhaps most importantly, the end product was fantastic--exceeded our expectations. Further, we stayed in constant communication both during and leading up to the construction process, and he was always very timely with his correspondence. As mentioned, Chuck was very thorough and understanding of all our wants/needs in designing the deck. He sent us detailed blueprints in advance so we knew exactly what we'd be getting with our deck and to make sure we were OK with the design prior to construction. And when it came to actually building the deck, he and his team did great work, fast. They built us a 14' x 26' deck over a funny elevation (right above ground on one side, sloping down to two stories on the high side) in less than two full days. The craftsmanship was top of the line--my wife and I couldn't stop talking about what a good job he and his team did--sturdy, very precise, and really good looking. All in all, the experience with Chuck was great, and he'd be the first person I'd go to for my next deck/patio or any project of the sort. A+ rating from us.
Description of Work: Chuck and his team removed and hauled away our previous (and very small) deck that came with our new home and built us a new one. He came out a few weeks before doing the project and talked to us about what we wanted and helped us come up with the exact design. + -1 moreI was very impressed with Chuck. He was very responsive to my calls and emails. He came to our house and listened to our problems. Then he offered several reasonable options. He also offered suggestions on how we could improve our back deck and how we could make our front railing look nicer. We were actually on vacation when the work was performed, so I do not know who all was involved. But the finished product is excellent. We have 10-15 steps leading up to our front door. Our new railing is beautiful and Chuck finished it off by painting it. Also, our back deck looks so much better now. I was very pleased with Chuck and I would definitely use him again for another project.
Description of Work: Chuck removed and replaced an old wooden hand railing leading up to our front door. He also repaired our back deck that also had rotten wood. Finally, he patched two holes in our house trim that were created by a woodpecker.

+ -1 moreAnother great job by Chuck and his team. Chuck built a deck for me in the Spring, and because the quality and service was so good, I called him about my fireplace project. I had Chuck build out my fireplace, floor to ceiling, and lay stone on it. There were a lot of challenges we thew at Chuck and his team, but they worked through them without missing a beat. We actually had him stone 25% of the fireplace and then tear it all off and start with a new stone. No problem. Then we asked him to complete the whole thing before Christmas. No Problem. He worked on Christmas eve to make sure it was done. Second time I've used this company for two completely different projects and the experience and quality were great! Brian Wright
