Lone Oak came and gave our estimate for our generator & we signed an agreement to install. They would not except any money until they were closer to our install date. They kept track of the weather & accessibility to our home (due to late snow fall). Our house was clear for they to begin ahead of schedule! The install went off extremely well & without complications! Now, we are waiting (almost hoping) for a power outage!! The Lone Oak team are all family..they work very well together..had some good laughs too!!
Description of Work: Full service installation of a whole house generator.

Angie came out in May to give us an estimate. At that time the estimate was $3862, subject to extra charges if more circuits or more tubing was needed. At that time there was a 6 - 8 week delay because of work scheduled ahead of us. On July 18 they came out to do the installation--a team of five. Because of a confusion of the relationship between the location of the furnace/utility room where the electricity and gas are located and the outside site, it was realized that an additional 20 feet of piping was needed. (The generator is outside the crawl space, which is next to the furnace/utility room in the basement.) We also added one more circuit to the plan. The actual outside installation was done very well. I had asparagus plants growing there and the worker dug them out and put them in the yard waste can. He also cut back plants so that they could bring in the generator. They came equipped with bee repellent so they were ready for everything. Inside, everything was neatly done. When the installation was complete Angie turned of the power so that the generator would kick in. We then verified that all the promised circuits were functioning. She asked when we wanted the weekly test to be scheduled, so I selected noon on Sunday so that my husband would verify that it was running. It ran as scheduled. The unit is very quiet.
Description of Work: Installed a Generac model 005870-0 7kw backup natural gas-powered generator. This involved tapping into the gas line and reconfiguring the electrical. The price reflected $197.50 discount for cash.

I came home from work on 1/19/2012 to find that Lone Oak had been to my house during the day. They dug a 3' x 5' hole next to the house and filled it with gravel, leveled it and set the new generator in place. This is the point at which everything went wrong. The generator had been placed in the wrong spot. It was not where I and the V.P. had agreed to put it, and it was located 1 foot from the basement window. The generator manufacturer's installation manual specifies 4 feet minimum from basement windows as does the building code in my village. I called the V.P. of Lone Oak to schedule the relocation and electrical installation. She said she would call early the next week to schedule the work, we ended our conversation. Five minutes later she called back and told me that her husband (The owner/president) said that if I didn't like it where they located it they would come and get the generator. I told her that we should schedule the installation for the following week and we would discuss the generator's location then, she and I agreed to that and ended our conversation. Twenty minutes later Lone Oak's crew the Owner, his wife and three helpers were on the side of my house to take the generator. The owner was yelling at his wife about how she quoted the job as he and the others picked up the generator and loaded it on their truck. He sat in his truck and wrote a check for my deposit and had his wife put it in my mail box. They then left left with the generator leaving the hole filled with gravel in my yard. I've had a attorney send them a letter requesting they remove the gravel, refill the hole with the dirt they removed and replace the plants the dug up. To date I've had no response from Lone Oak Power Systems.
Description of Work: Lone Oak Power systems provided a quote to install a 17kw home backup electric generator. I signed the agreement for the installation on 10/12/2012 for an agreed price of $5,410. The price included the generator and installation. The V.P. of Lone Oak did the Quote and site inspection. I was told at that time the installation would not take place until late December or early January due to the large number of installations Lone Oak had scheduled before mine. On 1/3/2012 the V.P. called requesting the 50% down payment before the work would be started, this was agreed upon in the quote. I sent Lone Oak a check for $2,705 that day. They cashed the check the next day.

Response from Lone Oak Power Systems Inc
The customer had changed the location of where the Generator was originally agreed to go by moving it 20 feet from where he told us to put it. That much footage in gas line and electrical installation would increase the cost for the installation. The customer refused to sign an additional work order so we simply gave him a full refund and removed the generator from his property.
