Five Star Painting of Yorkville

Got a quote from 5 star Yorkville and was going to have them do the work . Was going to by the paint myself since it was on sale at Sherwin Williams. I asked Mike how many gallons I would need and he told me I have to sign the contract first. It felt like he thought I was trying to pull a fast one on him, but that was not the case at all. If that’s how you do business then I will go elsewhere which I did. I had a new contractor the same day and you lost out on a job you would oh had. As far as I’m concerned this was a bad business decision since there are a lot of contractors looking for businesses

They company did a great job, were organized and timely. Great communication was done on the when they would start and finish. Would highly recommend.

Great, edging is perfect walls and ceiling look great. They patched the walls and I can’t see where the holes were. The painters were very professional and pleasant to be around. They were neat, covered up everything and did a good job of cleaning up when done. Work was completed in 2 days, would have taken me 2 weeks.

Five Star Painting earns its name by exceeding our expectations. Hiring a professional to do home repair work can be very stressful but the process went smooth based on the ease of communication with Mike, Esvin, Mary and Crew. They respond to calls, emails, and keep you informed throughout the entire process. Would highly recommend and would gladly call again for our home painting needs!

Excellent work. Our lower level of tri-level home was very dated and dark - dark brown brick, paneling and wallpaper. The guys brought it into the 21st century and made it a space I am proud to show off to guests! Thank you Esvin & team!

Great job and completed in only three days! The team was amazing and the Project Manager (Esvin) coordinated everything without an issue - even when I made last minute additions and changes.

Everything went well. The crew was punctual, knew what to do, and got busy doing their work. The crew was polite, respectful, and friendly. The crew cleaned-up the work area and removed all of the waste.

The 3 man team arrived on time each day and were courteous and professional. They addressed any questions or concerns we had quickly and with respect.

They were good. They cleaned. They didn't leave a mess. They did what they needed to and they were gone. You know, took a quick time. It was good. They called me right back. They came when they said.

This was not a pleasant experience at all. Mike's quote was the middle of the three we got, so price wasn't a problem. Once his painters showed up, it went downhill very quickly. They were very messy and didn't seem to use drop cloths. I have paint spatter all over several register vents and on the floor in the upstairs bathroom. Even though they weren't supposed to paint the trim, the got paint all over some of it. The painting is of poor quality as there are thin spots in corners and where the wall meets the ceiling. I went to check on the property and assumed that they had one more day to go because there were empty and partially empty cans left behind. They got paint on light switches and outlets as well. To make the poor job the painters did worse, they used flat paint when our contract was for eggshell. A second Mike convinced my wife to take $400 off the contract price and informed her that they would leave the rest of a five gallon bucket of the paint they used for us. He sent his guys out to fix the trim where they had slopped, but even that was inconsistent. On further inspection, it was clear that they did their touch up painting with a different sheen paint, so we have shiny spots on our walls. When the second Mike brought the paint by the property, I showed him what a poor job his workers did, he just shrugged and said they usually do good work. That's not much comfort for my lousy paint job.

Call it miscommunication but the original quote did not include completing the trim and baseboards although some had been done and they were already taped for painting. We agreed to have it added for an additional cost. When we arrived at the job site after the work was completed (ready for a potential buyer to see) some of the baseboards and all of the door trims were not completed. We had bought the paint and had some left on the premises so we completed the job ourselves before the showing. The original scheduled crew for our job had an emergency at the last minute. Mike did obtain a back up team to complete the job but the schedule and hours were affected.

Overall went ok and the finished product was acceptable. Only few issues we had were they didn't use lighting and it would get dark in the rooms quickly as it was winter. Second issue was expecting them to cut twice and roll twice which is how I would constitute 2 coats. Instead they rolled 2x and cut in at the end. Some of the painters were messy in the process, but they did ultimately clean it back up, just made process longer. Their price was a little higher than other contractors so my expectations were a little higher and that wasn't ultimately matched.

I chose this company, even though they were the highest if my 3 quotes, because they got good reviews and promised a quality job. This is the worst painting job I have ever seen and I had to pay to have it redone. The painters were courteous and friendly, however, I think they were on a time restriction and therefore skipped some necessary steps. Day one, two painters show up to start on the trim. It's a big job, and only 2 painters. One leaves for an hour to go to Home Depot to buy little sanders. I would seriously think the company should already have these. They took the next few days to sand/prime. Upstairs got primed...I do not believe downstairs was as 2 weeks later paint peeling off trim. While they were doing windows they took all the window locks apart and off windows. And left at 5 and failed to put back on, leaving our home totally unlocked. Their are so many..literally over 100, spots on our walls that have roller debris and drips that is terrible. They over painted all the trim even in one room I was not going to repaint. Started painting the kitchen even though they weren't supposed to. When I sent my "project manager" photos he said he would look at and get back to me" he was driving" . 4 days later I has not heard from him. The only reason I got a response was because the franchise sent me a survey. Mike and Enzo came out and did a walk through at which time Mike informed me he told me to not use an eggshell paint it would show flaws. Flaws are not paint drips and roller crap!!! And they did not sand walls prior as in agreement because you can still see all kinds of marks. I am including pictures of just some of the areas. They told me 2 guys would come on Monday to fix...never showed. A week later they offered to send them and I told him I already hired someone else to fix it. Never heard from him again. I am so disappointed in this and feel like I paid premium pricing for a discount job.
