I had a 3 panel patio door replaced. Very tall about 10 feet. Very nice price although I did get several quotes from "famous" window people, but was somewhat ignored and treated like a number. Blue Ribbon has great customer service. Installation was great and no mess afterwards. All my questions were answered and all employees at Blue Ribbon are very professional and helpful. The patio door is beautiful and I noticed right way how it helped with the room temperature and really lessened the street noise. Highly recommend Blue Ribbon.

I am very pleased. The double door looks great. They did a good job measuring and installing. They are very meticulous about the measuring so the product fits correctly. They were able to answer all questions that I had. There was an adjustment that needed to take place and they came out and did that with no problem.
Description of Work: They installed a new double door.

Blue Ribbon Millwork did a wonderful job. They were a great group of guys. They did a great job. They're top of the line. I did a lot of research on the different kinds of windows and service providers and decided that I would go with them. We were okay with the costs of the windows, because we knew they were top quality. They're very dedicated to get the job right. I never seen somebody work so fast and efficiently and with so much craftsmanship. I'm very particular with that. Quality and craftsmanship is number one with me. They couldn't have done a better job, actually. If I built a new house, I would use them, because they do other things.

After visiting about 10 different stores we came across Blue Ribbon Millwork in Woodstock. We met Dave Wegner. He was very pleasant and showed us his displays and cabinets. There was no pressure. We walked around and asked Dave questions and he told us of options and styles and colors we did not even know about after we had gone to so many other stores. My husband and I went to another 8 stores but now nothing compared to Blue Ribbon. With some stores the sales people were nice but the product's quality was not as good (particle board) or the prices were way too high. One store owner wanted us to sign a contract with a $2,000.00 nonrefundable down payment and we had to use his installers. Problem was I had my own installers and this owner would not put in the contract the final amount for his installers labor. I have never heard of anything like that in my life. It's like writing a blank check. We knew to go back to Blue Ribbon and see Dave. We ordered 6 double cabinets, 4 single cabinets, 15 drawer cabinets, 1 pantry cabinet with pull out drawers and LED vivid lighting, 3 piece crown molding, chair molding under the cabinets, a lazy susan cabinet with LED vivid lighting, a pull out cabinet for garbage, a 36and quot; Vent-a-Hood, an under mount double bowl anthracite sink. Our island had 5 drawers where one drawer has an all wood large utensil tray. Another drawer in the island has a removable wood peg tray where you could put items in it and put the movable pegs around them so they don't slide around. I put the lids of the various pan sizes in it making so much easier to find one to match. A few more cabinets have pull-our trays in them. The cabinets are all wood (Hickory) in Fawn stain. They are the Legacy semi custom all plywood cabinet made in the USA. They are 15and quot; deep and 39and quot; high. The island and any cabinet that shows a side displays the decorative wood. This also included all the handles. There is LED vivid lighting under the cabinets. We also purchased some extra LED lighting for other existing areas. Dave's prices were excellent. His product is both solid and stunning. When our son visited us he took one look at the cabinets and said and quot; You know, mom what I would change here, Absolutely nothing.and quot; It is gorgeous. Thank you Dave. I now have the kitchen of my dreams.
Description of Work: Dave Wegner, the salesman at Blue Ribbon Millwork helped us select our kitchen cabinets. His knowledge and pleasant personality made our experience enjoyable. Because my husband and I are retired we wanted a kitchen that was functional for us. Dave gave us a design for our kitchen that was very functional. He told us of the many options we had with the cabinets. He worked with us through emails and phone calls when we had questions.

Response from Blue Ribbon Millwork
In response to the members comments, we offer Marvin Windows which is anything but a basic window. We tried to meet the criteria and budget that was important to the them without the sacrifice of quality and workmanship. Our installation prices are more than fair considering the extra work we put into every job to ensure an installation that meets our high standards as well as our customers.

While at a friend's home, I complimented them on their windows. She said that Blue Ribbon Millwork did them. So, after looking them up on Angie's List and checking out their website, my husband and I went to their Algonquin store (on Randall Road). Eric was our contact, and he was very helpful. We already had in mind what we wanted, and I had brought along the approximate sizes of our windows. So, after picking out the type of trim (wood or white), he was able to give me a rough estimate. It was about $2000 less than I was expecting (based on what I had heard from others), so I was elated! The windows look MARVELOUS! We have received so many compliments from friends and neighbors on them. And the workmen were punctual, efficient, and CLEAN. After they left, you could not eve tell that they had been there (inside or out). I even had some outside Christmas decorations up, and they worked around them or gently moved them so they could perform their tasks. I was extremely happy with this company. (We dealt with the Algonquin office).
Description of Work: We had 14 new double-hung windows installed with the cross-hatch between the panes of glass. Our installation included the inside frame, trim, and sills. They also trimmed and wrapped the outside of the windows, too.

We visited the Blue Ribbon Woodstock showroom to get a hands on feel for the Marvin windows we were looking at. They did not have a huge selection of different styles, but what they had should be enough for anyone to make a choice of which Marvin window to go with. We were helped by Raul, who really knew a great deal about Marvin windows. After "playing" with the displays in the showroom, we decided on a couple of different models and asked Raul for a quote. He came out to our house just a few days later to measure our windows and doors. A few days later, Raul got back to us with several different quotes for different options we were looking at. We had some more questions and wanted to look at a few more things on the patio door we wanted. We went back to the showroom for a second look. This time, we also got into more details about the brands of fiberglass entry doors Blue Ribbon Millworks sells. Raul adjusted our quote to include the entry door we were considering. The whole time this was going on, we were also looking at different brands of windows and doors. We decided to go with Pella because we liked the Pella windows and doors better than Marvin. I very much wanted to work with Blue Ribbon because of their wonderful reputation. In fact, I wish I could have bought the Pella windows and had Blue Ribbon install them. The only two things I think I would like to see different about Blue Ribbon is, more selection in their showroom and better prices. I did not compare their price to other Marvin dealers, but their price was way higher than the price of our Pella windows and doors. With that said, I still would have went with Blue Ribbon if I was going to purchase Marvin windows and doors.
Description of Work: We needed a quote on new windows and doors in our 23 year old house. Blue Ribbon Millworks sells Marvin windows, which was one of the brands we were looking at, so we decided to get a quote from them.

Did not do business with them because they couldn't be bothered to give an estimate.
Description of Work: called for estimate on four sets of French doors-quite a large order. Took a while to come out, then never got back to me with a price. Called and left a message-never returned my call. Guess they have so much business they don't need mine!

Response from Blue Ribbon Millwork
In response to the Member's comments I have to strongly disagree. Upon her initial call our salesman made an appointment with her and went out to the job site on 11/1/10. On 11/4/10 he sent her an estimate explaining that this was a prelimnary quote and if she wanted to proceed any farther to contact us and he would return with our installer to finalize the bid. We have no knowledge of any message that she said she may have left and have never heard from her again. In the conversation between my salesman and the customer at the jobsite, she mentioned that she had contacted several other Marvin dealers and none of them had ever gotten back to her with a quote. For whatever reason they didn't respond to her, whether is was because of the difficulty of the job or because of the customer, I can assure you that we did in fact send her a quote.

Several years ago, I got quotes from three separate companies to replace a small picture window (separate report filed). I knew that I wanted a Marvin window based on the research I did as well as feedback from personal contacts. Blue Ribbon Millwork was the company I chose because they were the most professional and were the only one willing to pre-stain the windows so I didn't have to stain them after they were installed. Their work was so good and fair that I did not bother to get separate quotes on this job. Our Anderson storm windows were in various states of disrepair. I decided to replace all of the windows in my home before having new siding put on (Pro-Line Exteriors... separate report to be filed). If you decide to get new windows and new siding, make sure you do the windows first. The old windows have to be cut out and the resulting gap will be covered with aluminum trim (Blue Ribbon did this and it looked good). If the siding is done second, you can have the siding or the siding trim go all the way to the window (looks more professional in my opinion and this is what Pro-Line Exteriors did). Erik from Blue Ribbon Millwork (Algonquin showroom) was our contact and did an outstanding job. He explained all of our available options (window style, stain options, hardware finishes, sill vs frame, etc.). He encouraged us to consider the Marvin Integrity line because all of our windows are a standard size and we wanted the exterior trim to be white (which is what the Integrity line has). The Integrity line is cheaper and almost identical in energy efficiency. We visited the Algonquin showroom and my wife and I agreed (a rare occurrence) that we liked the appearance of the Ultimate Double Hung windows better. We did choose an Integrity window for the garage. Blue Ribbon was punctual, professional, thorough, and responsive when I had questions. When we wanted more window sash pull options, Erik recommended another local supplier. We ended up going with the Marvin sash pulls and have been happy with them. We went with upgraded screens on the casement windows so they could be stained to match and an upgraded hardware option for all of the windows and door. We chose the Marvin French slider to replace our existing French door for its appearance and functionality for our small dining room. I can't say enough good things about Blue Ribbon Millwork. Erik is patient, professional, and knowledgeable. His crew does an excellent job from start to finish (all new framing materials, proper flashing procedures, excellent clean-up, and stain touch-ups when needed). The finish carpenter on site gave us sill options before making the sills. His work is exceptional. When it comes time to replace our front door, I will definitely use Blue Ribbon Millwork again.
Description of Work: Blue Ribbon Millwork replaced my old Andersen windows with a combination of Marvin Ultimate Double Hung windows (12), Marvin casement windows (4), a large Marvin picture window (1), and a Marvin Infinity window (1). They also replaced a French door with a Marvin French slider.

Things were excellent! It was a pleasure doing business with them. They were very precise. After the work was completed, two of the screens were not as tight as they should have been. The very next morning, they replaced them with two new screens. I have an older home and have had a lot of work done and nothing has gone as smoothly as this project.

The installers arrived on time, worked very professionally. Answered questions when asked. The work done was superb, very accurate and makes the house look so much better (not to mention, more energy efficient). I would highly recommend the personnel at the Algonquin office, but cannot imagine that the Woodstock office would be any different; I just do not have any experience with them. PS - I am sorry that I did not submit this report sooner, but soon after the work was done I lost my job and spent over seven months trying to find work and live on unemployment, which consumed most of my time (I now have a temporary job, thankfully). We felt the money spent was worth the investment in our home (put it on a line of credit), for us to live in as long as we could or (In case we needed to move), it would be a huge selling point and could be deducted from the selling price of the house. Thanks, Blue Ribbon Millwork.
Description of Work: [FYI} - There are two locations for Blue Ribbon Millwork; we dealt with the office / personnel in Algonquin on Randall Road. Removed and replaced 13 windows and removed and replaced one (front) storm door. All windows were Marvin 'Ultimate Insert double hung or casement (basement windows) windows' that qualified for the energy efficient rebates. The exterior was aluminum clad and the interior was wood. We chose Blue Ribbon Millwork because of excellent recommendations from friends and because they would stain and seal the interior wood of each window to match the stain and / or (for one window) the paint color of the existing interior frame and trim. The windows are double-pane, low E II insulating glass that can be cleaned from the inside.

The company gave more options (pre-staining of trim) at a better price than two other contractors who handle Marvin window installations. They were professional and the job was finished with the utmost care and quality. Their attention to detail was excellent. I didn't have to do any of the work myself either before or after the job was done. I highly recommend Blue Ribbon Millwork and plan to use them again to replace all of the other windows in my house when the time comes.
Description of Work: Replacement of a custom-sized picture window. Old window was single pane glass with a stained glass window on the interior. New window was a Marvin argon-insulated window with pre-stained interior trim. The stained glass window was removed by Blue Ribbon Millwork and replaced once the exterior window was replaced. The decorative, stained trim that held the stained glass window previously was replaced with new trim.
