It was fantastic. Kevin was so professional and polite. He explained the entire process and answered all my questions very patiently! All of my vents were cleaned extremely well, and I will absolutely be using the Duct Cleaning Group again next year! I'm so appreciative of his service, especially going above and beyond with helping me get my new thermostat set up too!

Lots of hidden charges..watch out!!! When I spoke with them on the phone to schedule the service they said they charge by the duct and for one "main trunk" line. They did not mention a "sublet fee", a travel charge, or a cutting fee. They also charged me for 4 trunk lines (not main) and one air handler boot. The other services seemed more expensive but in the end Duct Cleaning Group cost me more. When I called the office to complain about these hidden charges -- no one called me back. This is not what I would expect from an Angie's List provider.

Disappointed. I hired another service to do the job properly a month later. The ducts were not cleaned properly at all. I was told they would use a different process. They simply hooked a boss to the vents and that was it.

They were very rude. They wanted to sell me more services and when I refused they made a comment that it was a waste of a trip. I would never recommend because their equipment is mediocre at best. I have had my vents cleaned before professionally with equipment which was 10X better than what they had. All they did was stick a large vacuum hose to my vent and turned it on. The other company I used actually suction hoses all the way through the venting system. This is why I would not pay for any additional services from them.

It was fine. It was more expensive than I expected just because they did a lot of upselling. Other than that, the work was fine. They were a B because it wasn't cleaned properly and because of the amount of additional cost.

The guys were great, very personable and professional. I was shocked to see the amount of work they suggested I needed (around $800) and they made several calls back to their headquarters to see what deals I could get. After some negotiation we were able to get the cost down to about $500 which I couldn't afford at the time, so I just went ahead with the basic air blasting of the ducts. It really did help with the air-flow, they had good recommendations on opening/closing certain vents so rooms could get more air.

Please excuse the long review, I want to provide all details for those considering this service. Details on our house: Furnace in basement. 2 supply trunk lines, one that feeds the 1st floor duct work, 1 that feeds the 2nd floor duct work. -- My guess is that the total distance of the supply trunk line that goes to the 1st floor would be around 60 feet. My guess on the total distance for the supply trunk line that goes to the 2nd floor would be around 80 feet. (give or take 10 feet) 1 air return trunk line that connects to the return duct-work on the 1st floor and 2nd floor. The air return trunk line I would guess is around 80 feet. Total of around 22 ducts/vents for all floors (both supply vent/ducts and return vent/ducts) 1st, all interactions I have had with the company and the technician that performed this work were top notch. The technician on the day of our appointment arrived within our time window that we were told, the person was very courteous and had a good attitude. One of the questions I asked was if he was planning on covering all my vents before introducing suction to the system before he started because that was the most effective manner to ensure each individual duct would have the highest level of vacuum pressure in order to ensure as they clean each vent duct line (and trunk lines) that it was the most effective at removing built up dust and whatever else was in the system. I did not exactly feel like he intended in doing that until I asked the question based on his response. He then went around the house and used the equivalent of thin brown butcher paper (around the thickness as a sheet of paper, possibly thinner) to cover each vent loosely, no tape. (none of the return vents were covered, I had to do this myself with cardboard like material + tape because I wanted to ensure the service I was paying for would be as effective as possible) I did not watch the tech connect his vacuum line to the main supply duct. He cut a 8-10" circular hole on the trunk line that feeds my upstairs. And then an 8-10" hole on the supply trunk line. They use a very large motor/big vacuum cleaner outside that this vacuum runs a line to the hole they cut in your system to create the vacuum with. So as the vacuum system was running he started on my 2nd floor, I sat in my kitchen on the 1st floor letting the tech do his work. As he started cleaning out the vents up stairs I noticed the paper he put on the vents on my 1st floor was not even sticking at all. I went around the 1st floor and verified that was the case on every single vent. I assumed that meant he was just supplying suction to the 2nd floor at that point. He came downstairs after around 30 minutes (I was still in the kitchen) and was about to start on one of my vents on the 1st floor. That was when I said, hey isnt there somethingw wrong here? There is no vacuume on these bottom floor vents, won't what you be doing be much less effective, because whatever you disloge it won't be pulled through? Again, I got a very vague, don't worry about it, I will be pushing it towards your supply trunks and we will take care of it. So finally I was just like, come on downstairs with me. When I got him in the basement I looked at how he had hooked up his vacuum system. He had just hooked the main vacuum hose hooked to the supply duct that fed upstairs and, so the vacuum was pulling from the entire supply system. NOT just the 1st floor or the 2nd floor trunk lines independently. That coupled with the really thin paper I believe made it highly infective. So I asked him, shouldn't he be blocking off each floor 1 at a time on the supply line side to ensure he gets the most vacuum as he does each floor, then unblock and block it the other direction when doing the next floor? He was like oh yeah, and then did it. After that when we went upstairs the vacuum was 95% better on my 1st floor, all the papers were stuck to the vents or getting partially sucked in because they were so thin. After he had the vacuum going on the system the thin paper he had put over the vents was obviously ineffective. Some vents the paper was getting sucked in because it was so thin. I went around and put large books over each opening to ensure each was sealed and that the duct he would be cleaning next would have the greatest vacuum. So at this point my confidence in the techs abilities to adequately clean our system was low, while he started more on the 1st floor, I watched and noticed the amount of time he spent on a vent did not add up to how many vents we had upstairs... That there was no way he cleaned the upstairs vents properly in the time he was up there.. So I went up to our 2nd floor to inspect what he had already done. That was when I found supply vents he either (1 did not clean at all) or did a very quick job of. Or maybe it had something to do with his poor manner of hooking the vacuum line up. I am not sure, this should be there job to get right, not mine. So I called the guy upstairs into one room where a vent I could put my arm in and dust was on my hand and asked if he actually cleaned that vent. I don't believe I ever got a 100% yes or no either way. So I called the 800 # and spoke to a Charles there who was very apologetic and I explained to him that I did not believe the duct work was being cleaned properly. He called his tech and then asked me what I wanted to do, he assured me that someone would come out later with a camera and they would do the job again if necessary. And that the tech would re-do whatever he had already done. So I opted to have him stay and start over. At this point I went around and covered EVERY vent in my house myself with large books to ensure the best seal. And covered all the air return vents. I followed the tech around as he did each and every supply vent in my house to ensure he did his job. What I find funny is that the amount of time it took him to do each vent the 2nd time around (in which they actually did feel clean when I put my hand in after) indicated to me he definitely skipped vents the 1st time around. After he finished both supply lines, he then did the return line and then cleaned the supply ducts from the furnace side. Which I am not sure how effective that was because there is no way he snaked it in enough to get through all my trunk lines. He then did the sealant and disinfectant through each line. I am suspect on that. The machine he used looked like a portable vacuum cleaner, it seemed to only have around 16 oz of liquid in it (I opened it before he started and took a peek inside and smelled to make sure it was just not water or something) When he ran the unit and put it into each vent for around 2 minutes per vent - I watched, nothing was visible coming out of the end of it he pointed into the vent. No fog, no mist, nothing. He never refilled it while doing my house. Think about that, how effective at "sealing" and "disinfecting" an entire duct work system with 22 lines with a misting/fogging machine that might only have 16 oz of liquid in it, that is never refilled, that does not look like anything is coming out of the end he is putting into each vent. I think I paid extra for no benefit in that category. I don't recall exactly, but I think it doubled the cost per vent. So to end this review, my recommendation is that you watch closely what the tech is doing don't pay extra for this sealant and disinfectant until you have checked it out closely. I should have, I feel duped on that. It was 1 tech who after starting over again it took him 5 hours to complete the work. So it was around $150.00 per hour, and I had to do a bunch of little things to ensure the job was done right. Paying 150.00 per hour, I should have had a perfect job done. They were very nice, but I am not happy. I said I would hire them again, because the management was nice and really tried to help fix things. I already gave one of their cards to a friend, but warned them to watch out. Update: 01/18/15 I never received any follow up communication from them or any offer to come out to camera my ductwork to verify a proper job had been done(was offered multiple times on the phone from Charles when the tech was here and I was angry because the job was not being done). Was told they gurantee their work and would do it multiple times if needed. I have changed my opinion and this review at this point to not hiring them again. Every company makes mistakes, its what you do after that makes a difference. It was my job to ensure they did their job when they were here, and it looks like it would have been my job to make sure they follow up. If you want good duct work cleaning service from someone you can trust, and if they mess up will ensure things were done right, look else ware.
Description of Work: Was scheduled to have entire duct work system in house cleaned. Which would include every supply vent duct and supply trunk line in our home, every return air vent duct, and return air vent trunk lines. After this process a chemical "fogger" was supposed to be used that would seal and disinfect the duct-work.

No service was performed. We were more than willing to earn you business, however you were comparing us to a another company that used shop vac's to clean your ducts. WE use gas powered truck mounted equipment and we do guarantee our price to be the lowest for the IDENTICAL services. Your cost after promotion was only 238.00 per unit, witch is half of the national average for proper duct cleaning. National average is $400-$1000 per unit. We are very competitive on price and fully guarantee our workmanship 100%. Sorry we could not perform the services and prove ourselves to you.

I didnt use this deal because it was a total bad experience before work even started, therefore I chose not to use this company. I felt they should have been WAY more prepared from the get go in scheduling my appointment than what they were. I live on the 3rd floor of a city highrise and they sent 1 technician to carry an over 80 lb piece of heavy equipment up 3 flights of stairs. I helped him initially up the stairs and I have a heart condition because thats how bad I felt for him. The technician was very nice, courteous, cordial, and understanding. However, there was no way I was going to let them complete the work after everything that had transpired.

We usually use gas powered equipment, however you live in a condo on the third floor which is inaccessible for our equipment to reach. So we sent a crew with electric equipment to be able to accommodate you and your system. YES the electric equipment is a big vacuum devise and is heavy but we do not expect you the customer to help load the equipment. I am sorry we could not show you the quality of our workmanship but wish you the best. Thank you.
