They have a lot of issues. They could have better quality of service and lower price. I think that $70 a month would be more affordable.

I reached a customer service with a heavy accent and had to ask for a supervisor. The supervisor was able to expedite my request and cancel the movie channels I no longer wanted because of the price.

I am not very happy with Dish Network. You pay a decent price and when you look at the channel lineup and probably more than a third of it is commercials. The customer service was helpful.

They've been very responsive when I call them and they do call me back. When I needed to set up an appointment they accommodated with me and they gave me a 4 hour window in which they'd arrive. They are very polite. He seemed to know what he was doing and checked everything including the dish, the box, the television, etc.
Description of Work: My children purchased Dish for me for Christmas and I was having problems with about 6 months later. I ended up having a bad cable box and it needed replaced. It worked for awhile but after a few weeks it started having problems again and the man came today and said the dish was in the wrong place and gave me a whole new dish because he didn't want me to have further problems. He moved it and now it works perfectly. He said the dish had to be facing south west.

This is one of the worst company I had to deal with. Poorly managed and dishonest representatives. They lie to get you signed on to their programming and then hit you with fees. I will never use their services again. After doing some online research last winter, I decided to get Dish Network's programming because they have the best price. At the time I already had a feeling that the company isn't well managed. Their website does not have the detailed information available on competitor's website (e.g., Comcast) but I decided to give them a try anyways because of their price advantage. I talked two different representatives on different occasions, to make sure they gave me a consistent story in terms services, fees, etc. They kind did, making me believe it's probably ok to sign the 24-month contract required to get the low price. When the first installer came out, he installed a receiver with DVR. I told him I didn't order a DVR, and he said he was somehow asked to install a DVR unit. Fine, go ahead, as long as I am not charged for it. Well, the bill came, and it had a charge for the DVR. So I had to call the company to have another guy coming out to replace the unit. The bill also had a $5 charge for a 2nd TV connection fee, but when I first ordered the service, I was clearly told (by both reps) that I'd get 2nd TV connection for free. So I complained to their rep and then a manager to have the $5 charge removed. The manager said she'd do it, but I have to either set up automatic payment or hook up my phone line to the receiver unit (so they can monitor what programs I watch). Reluctantly I hooked up my phone line to the receiver unit and ran the test and it passed. The next month the bill contains a $5 charge for the 2nd TV connection again. I called the company again and the lady said the connecting-phone-line-to-unit to waive the $5 fee is a promotion that had expired at the end of January. I said how could that be possible? Your rep asked me to hook up the phone line less than a month ago. She was clearly lie'ing. After complaining to a manager, the manager transfered me to another person who said the reason I was charged $5 was because my phone line wasn't hooked to the unit. I told him it was and I verified it's working again on the screen (there is a test one can run to verify it). So that person said he would remove the $5 charge for good. Finally I thought I had everything taken care. It was a lot hassel but the low price makes it worthwhile, right? WRONG! a couple of weeks ago, I decided to call the company to pause the programming for a couple of months. Supposedly when you pause the programming, you pay $5 charge a month to keep the program until you resume. The rep said I couldn't do that because I am still under contract. No one told me I would not be able to pause the program when I was asked to sign up for the programming!!! and it's not in any contract I saw. So I complained to a manager, and then supposedly the manager's manager and they wouldn't do it. Now I am stuck, paying for programming that no one is going to watch and couldn't get out of the contract.

Easy to call and book appointment. People over the phone where very friendly. There were many available dates and times to choose from including the next weekend. Installer showed up right in the middle of the arrival window (which was a bit long at 5 hours). Performed the work in the 1-2 hours that was promised during the sales call. The installer was nice but clearly was there just to get the job done so he was not as friendly as I had expected. He did track some dirt into the house and didn't clean up dust from he drilled. Overall though my experience was far superior to the issues we have had with cable setup in the past so this was an overall pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Called and booked appointment through satellite sales company. I believe the subcontracted it out to a local rep. Installed dish on roof, ran two cables into the house including drilling through exterior wall. Configured receiver and explained basic use.

The first installer did not do a very good job. He was hard to understand and didn't explain the remotes in detail. I was ready to throw all the televisions out. I don't watch a lot of television but I was frustrated every time I turned the DISH on and saw a grey screen. My husband was angered when our first bill wasn't right and really mad when they wanted to charge us to fix the problem that was created by their own installer. They didn't charge us after all the problems we reported.
Description of Work: Third time a man came out to adjust wires and set programming on four televisions. He also set caller ID, which we were never told the system was capable of.

DISH NETWORK PROVIDES A GOOD VALUE. THEIR PRODUCT IS CONSISTENT. INSTALLATION VERY SMOOTH, HOWEVER, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS INCONSISTENT. THEIR STAFF IS NOT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. SOMETIMES YOU GET SOMEONE WHO IS GOOD AND SOMETIMES YOU GET SOMEONE NOT HELPFUL. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THEY HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE ON UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES. THEY DON'T GIVE YOU FULL DISCLOSURE ON HOW CHARGES CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR BILL. WHEN YOU CONTEST THEM, THEY ARE VERY RESISTANT TO TAKING THEM OFF.

THE TECHS ARE SUBBED OUT AND HAVE NO BASIC SKILLS. AFTER TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I SENT A REGISTERED LETTER TO VP OF THE COMPANY TO VOICE MY COMPLAINT. HE SENT IT TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THEY MADE FALSE PROMISES. I CALLED THE BBB AND THEY HAVE MANY COMPLAINTS.
