The refrigerator is functioning again. This has happened before and it is only 5 years old. The warranty was still in effect or it would have cost $2500. The parts were ordered, we were without a refrigerator for a week. Fortunately, the freezer was still working during this time. I did feel that I had to stress the urgency of not having refrigeration with a house full of guests when I spoke to the dispatch department. The repairman was very astute and responsive though. Overall I am extremely disappointed with my Sub-Zero experience, but I'm happy to know that there a competent service resource available.
Description of Work: Sub-Zero seal system repair, about 4 hours of work.

My old dishwasher was leaking and I wanted to know if I could have it repaired or if I needed to buy a new one. I called ASC to check the unit and if worthwhile, to repair the it. The service man checked out the unit and told me that the cost of repairing it was too much to make it worthwhile. He suggested a new dishwasher was the way to go. It was worthwhile to pay for the service call just to be sure that I was not getting rid of an easily repairable unit.
Description of Work: The repairman checked my leaking dishwasher to determine if it was worthwhile repairing it.

We had two in home service calls. The first was to analyze the problem on 6/3. We missed the first scheduled service call....our fault. They were to call 15 minutes before arrival and we gave them the wrong cell #. The second scheduled visit to analyze the problem worked out. However, the technician asked personal questions of my partner. Since I scheduled the appointment and my partner was able to show for the service call the technician asked who he was, was he a renter, and questions about the credit card used. I thought these were inappropriate and he made my partner uncomfortable. I called the service center and asked to speak with the supervisor to express my concern but never got a call back. The technician was supposed to research the problem and contact the manufacturer to determine the next steps and call us back within a few days. I did not receive a call and after a week I called to follow up. It was after that, that we were called back to schedule a follow up visit. The price was as quoted and so far all is working well.
Description of Work: We had a faulty automatic ice maker that was dripping water and freezing over.

Thank you for your feedback on your repair service experience. I would like to take this opportunity to explain why the tech may have questioned your partner. When we run credit cards, we are asked to imput the address number and zip code into the credit card processor since we are off-site. Since your last names are different, the technician was assuring that the billing address number and zip would correspond to the credit card during payment. We do work for many property managers who are off-site, and the tech was just working from experience. The additional experience of having wrong phone numbers also triggers questions because landlords sometimes give us the wrong phone number for their tenant's. There was certainly no intent to make anyone feel uncomfortable. We appreciate your contacting us for your service needs, and hope all your concerns have been addressed.

Overall the visit went very well. The repairman was prompt. He gave me the information that I needed and cleaned and checked the refrigerator. He cleaned around and in back of the refrigerator which is hard to do on a routine basis. He gave me info about how to clean and vacuum the refrigerator on the future. The cost of the service was what I expected.
Description of Work: I had the repairman in to do some preventative maintenance on my refrigerator and to check on a thump noise when the compressor turns off. The repairman told me that the noise was do to the compressor and to eliminate the noise the compressor would have to be replaced but that the cost would high enough to consider buying a new refrigerator. As long as we could stand the noise, he suggested that we continue to use this refrigerator until it breaks down. He cleaned and checked the temperatures which were good.

This was a disappointing process and this company should review its phone service on weekends. If someone had just told us no one would reach us until Monday, we would not have been so frustrated.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator broke down on a Saturday morning. We called AAA and spoke with a dispatcher who told us our call would be considered an emergency call and that a technician would be getting in touch shortly. We waited throughout the day, and on Sunday morning, without having heard anything, we called again. The dispatcher repeated what the first dispatcher said and promised to make a note that we had already called the previous day, and we began to wait again. After 2 1/2 hours, we called to ask the dispatcher what kind of time frame we should wait for with an emergency call. We explained how long we had been waiting. She said she didn't know when someone would call. I asked if there was anyway she could find out, and she said a technician would call when available. I asked her if we could make an appointment with her, and she said no. Meanwhile, we filled out the online form that said someone would get in touch shortly. No one did. We got an e-mail response that said someone would get in touch. No one did. We contacted another company via an e-mail form, and come Monday morning, the other company contacted us, and the refrigerator was already fixed by this other company when AAA finally called us at 11:30. By then we had left the house and did not get their message until later.

The initial call was not placed during business hours on Saturday morning as you state above. Our answering service received the call at 4:32 pm on Saturday. Saturday normal business hours end at 2:00pm as posted above. You indicate that you called back that same day. We have no call recorded. Perhaps you are confusing us with one of the other companies you contacted. We did receive a call on Sunday morning. We did leave a message for you at your home at about 9:00 am on Monday. We then replied to your e-mail later in the day when we completed our answering service call backs. Our answering service is available for people who cannot reach us during our normal business hours. Had you called earlier in the day on Saturday, we would have been more than happy to take your call and provide service to your appliance. We would be happy to work with you and prove that we can establish a good client relationship.

They came the next day after I called them. They did a fine work. I thought that it was going to cost me more. However, when the person from this company came to see it, he was able to replace a part immediately. He was able to tell me what the problem was as soon as he looked at the oven. He told me that there was something wrong with the board, and he was not even going to charge me for it. He did not take a long time, and he tested the oven before he left to make sure everything was fine. He was very professional.
Description of Work: We used AAA Appliance Service Center to get my gas oven repaired. There was something wrong with igniter. It used to take some time to ignite and when it would it would sound like it is going to explode.

I was satisfied with the work. They gave me a little bit of a break because I am an Angie?s List member but their pricing was a little higher than I expected. When I called for the estimate, the person that I spoke with quoted me one price but when the technician was out here, he wrote up a different price that included a technical labor charge or something that wasn?t quoted to me on the phone. There were two men out here and one of them told me that I probably didn?t hear them correctly because their personnel are instructed to include this fee. He was very argumentative so to be perfectly honest, I wouldn?t use this company again. He insisted that the person that spoke with me must have included this but I do not believe the person on the phone mentioned the extra fee. I didn?t see a point in arguing because he wasn?t there and only the person on the phone and I know what our conversation consisted of. They did good work and they were in and out of here really quickly but I wasn?t real pleased with the whole experience. The quality of work was good but the technician insisted that I didn?t know what I was talking about. The other gentleman was very professional.

Not to my satisfaction from a communications perspective. The work was good but doing it again I would have tried to find someone else technically sound and significantly more responsive.
Description of Work: I would describe this company as technically competent and organizationally disastrous. Our initial experience was quite impressive. The technician came out as agreed and was a wealth of information about the problem. He offered a reasonable solution for repairs on our Subzero and educated us on maintenance procedures to avoid similar problems in the future. The downside was working with the office. After scheduling the estimate appointment we called back to schedule the work. On the first call we were told someone would call us back once the technician "who had the paperwork" was contacted. No call. We called the next day and were told that the technician "had turned in the paper" but the office person couldn't find it. Someone "would call us back shortly". No one did. This exchange was followed by a total of four calls which we initiated trying to 1) give them a credit card for deposit so that the part could be ordered and 2) trying to schedule a date for the repair work to be done. It took another two calls to confirm that the part that needed to be ordered had been received. Once, we did get a call back when I requested the exact amount of the deposit before I would provide the credit card number. Apparently, at least in our case, there is only one technician who actually knows anything about this problem. (Or so I assume). No matter who we talked to the answer was "I have to call W_____). Net net, because of this faulty communication we have been without a refrigerator for a total of 2.5 weeks. At 2500 per pop I would have expected a better system. If you have nothing better to do that chase down folks, they do a great job. Otherwise, try to find somebody who has a computer system and doesn't think the idea of returning a customer call is a novel one.

We are sorry and shocked to hear of the problems you had communicating with our office. Please believe me that this is quite unusual, and we will do whatever we can to make this experience less stressful. As for the computer issue, we do rely heavily on our computer system. Unfortunately, our over reliance on it helped to create this problem. Our technician turned in the invoice as a completed repair on Wednesday, March 10 since you did not initially approve the work. As a result, the invoice was closed as paid in full. The invoice was then turned over to another staff member to create a computer generated estimate for direct mailing to you as a courtesy follow-up and for our internal records. However, there is never any excuse for not returning a phone call. When you called on Monday, March 15, our office staff did take the deposit information from you and the parts were immediately ordered. The parts were received late Wednesday, March 17th, and we scheduled the call on March 19th. You requested that the technician's return to do the installation and completion on March 24th and the office will be contacting you when the technician is on his way. Please feel free to contact management so we can discuss taking steps to make up for the miscommunication issues that occurred.

They were awesome. The price included parts and labor. My husband dealt with them and I didn't hear anything bad. The first day they came right away; the second time somebody must have made a mistake and they called and said he would be there in half an hour. It was more like 1 1/2 hours. Someone got a little confused. They were very thorough and very knowledgeable. Other than that little mix-up on the second time, there were not any problems that I know of.
Description of Work: We used AAA Appliance Service Center to fix a natural gas leak in our stove.

They were fantastic, the man bent over backwards to fix it. The first person who came out didn't do a really good job so we called them back and the owner came out to do another diagnosis then came out to install a part and didn't charge us for the last two visits. I would rate their responsiveness with a triple "A". They were on time and called a half hour before they got there and then ten minutes before they arrived. The only reason we called them was because of the positive reviews they had on Angie's List.

The serviceman found a broken wire leading to the motor but it would have been an expensive fix so we decided to get a new dishwasher. They were very prompt, they were here within a day of my call, and he did a good job. He was very thorough and explained what he was doing.

Very professional and well priced compared to other services I have used. Unfortunately it's hard to find companies that can handle some of the foreign brands. My dishwasher unfortunately is going to cost more than $600 to repair, which just isn't worth it given how old it is. The repairman gave me some good advice about selecting a new dishwasher and how best to care for it, as well as suggestions for keeping my built-in refrigerator in good working order.
Description of Work: Cleaned coils and generally checked over my Sub-Zero fridge. Also managed to get my 17--year-old Bosch dishwasher to finish its cycle and drain.

They were wonderful. They came when they said they would. Their price was better, and they could come the fastest. The gentleman working on it, had a hard time to get at it to make it work. He ordered a part and was back as fast as he could be to get it fixed for me. He also fiddled with my garbage disposal and didn't charge me at all. They were very prompt.

They were great. They were in and out in about a half-hour. They have lots of experience and knew what they were talking about. The price was what they promised. They fixed the problem and I was drying clothes in no time.

See above. The answer below says I will use them again which is contradictory, I know, but it's hard to find anyone to do vintage appliance repair.
Description of Work: Asked for a service call. They don't give quotes by phone or free estimates. It was $157 just to show up. All they did was knock the scale off by pilot burners and tell me that the rest of repairs were going to be timely, cost consuming and they would have to send out the parts to another company for repair. Their website brags about antique appliance repair so I assumed I was going right to the source. I would have at least expected them to wipe it down and grease hinges or something. The two guys that came out were nice enough though.

The member lives downtown which has a higher service call then other areas due to the high cost of parking, the time involved walking back and forth from parking garage. Only the loop carries a $157 service call. The technician did clean the pilot burners for no charge. We do have a large inventory of antique parts as well as resources available; however, many parts have to be sent out to be rebuilt and this involves not only the cost of the part itself, but the cost of shipping the part back and forth from companies who are most often located outside the state of Illinois.

The representative showed up on time and went right to work. There were only a few loose bolts to tighten, but service was professional and job was well done.
Description of Work: AAA Appliance Service Center had a representative come to the apartment, diagnose and fix the noisy washer unit within 20 minutes.

I made a few calls and other companies told me they could not take the job because the stove was no longer in production and the parts were unavailable. AAA Appliance Service Center came the same day I called, repaired the burners that day and came back the next day to replace the safety valve and pilot. It might have cost the same amount as a new stove but this is a gem of an antique; it would have cost thousands more to buy a similar oven new. I am very happy to have the oven working in time for the holidays!

We are following up on the repair to your antique range, and hope that is still working well. Thankfully, Angie's List keeps her posts up so we can follow up with our customers to make sure that their appliances are up and running. You had some concern in your posting that the price of the repair component. The price to repair older, antique model ranges can be expensive as we often have to send the parts out to be rebuilt. In the past we had a large inventory, but that has been depleted. There aren’t many companies out there that repair, rebuild or replace these antique components so we are at their mercy. We also pay shipping for a heavy part both to the vendor and back to us from the vendor. We are hopeful that the unit is still working well, but please remember that we also repair all major appliances at a fraction of the cost of these antique units. I think you will see that our labor was reasonable for the repairs. The parts are not that expensive for contemporary units. Wishing you the best this holiday season and reminding you to change the batteries in your smoke detectors when you change the clocks back each year to keep you and your family safe.
