GET DWELL

It went great. Darryl was quick to respond and arrived the next day (during a very busy time due to storm) with a licensed roofer to stop the leaks, diagnose the cause, advice to prevent from happening in the future. Will use Get Dwell again and highly recommend this company due to thorough description of job and cost prior to starting, timely arrival and professionalism throughout the entire process.

They are a little pricey and have an 8-hour minimum, but if you have that much work to be done, it is well worth it. I've used many handymen where the work was shoddy. Bill did a fabulous job on everything on our punch list. He explained any issues he found, made suggestions, gave me options and kept me posted on his progress. I would definitely use them again.

The work itself went very well and the demolition and construction/installation were expertly handled. There were delays in getting the project started initially, materials ordered, and scheduling the installation. The demolition was finished in less than one day, and all debris was completely cleared and cleanup was complete. All gaps and crevices were filled with insulation and covered with weatherproof tape. The workmanship on the installation was outstanding, both the door surround and the storm door. Get Dwell definitely has talented people for carpentry, installation and painting

I will start with this - hire these guys at your own risk. I wish I had read the other reviews on Angie's List before hiring them, since my experience is so similar to many of them. Upon a reference from our home's previous owner, who we respect and have had good experiences with their other recommendations, we asked Get Dwell to repair two sliding pocket doors. After connecting and agreeing upon terms, the owner sent one of his workers to do the job. While he claimed each job took about a day (to fix a door?), the real issue was that one of the doors now does not hang straight, and jets out of the wall at about a 25 degree angle. Add to that the scratches on the just-refinished floor, and one half of the job was a total botch. Shoddy work that the worker thought was "just fine." When I got the bill for $1100 (to repair two doors?), I went back and forth with Darryl Rose, the owner, about my concerns and issues with the quality of work. Like several of the other reviewers here, I was subjected to the verbal abuse of being a "deadbeat" and unrespectable. After arguing for 45 minutes, I finally told him I would pay for the work that was completed and satisfactory, and that I would take care of the damages to my floor (which he was disputing). I simply did not want him to touch my house again, although he pushed for his "guy" to come do the floor repair. AND THEN...a week after sending his bill, and our subsequent argument, he dropped off a letter at my home, addressed to my wife, pleading his sorry story, in which he is a victim to what I "have done." Clearly, he underestimated my wife, and our level of communication. All in all, one half of the work was done fine. The other was not completed and the work was left in a wholly unsatisfactory manner. But the interaction, and the accusatory approach, were disrespectful, arrogant, suspicious and borderline crooked. I have worked successfully with many contractors over the years, and Get Dwell has proven - by far - the worst.

We have used Get Dwell a number of times and found them to be reliable, courteous, prompt, and professional. This latest time they installed a window air conditioner in a 2nd floor window. I don't remember the exact price, so this is an estimate, but in general their prices are reasonable. A year later, we are still very happy with the installation.

Could not have possibly hired so many professionals to do what was done in 1.5 days by Eric.. So nice, efficient..Moved and cared like it was his own dime and his own home!

Simply put, my bad experience with Get Dwell is the reason I joined Angie's List. I'm writing this review almost 2 years after the job, because we just finished remodeling our bathroom a 2nd time to correct the poor work done by Get Dwell in the summer of 2012. Darryl sent Steve to the job, and he worked hard and was considerate. But at then end of the day the tub walls were crooked and the guy had no idea how to lay sheets of mosaic tile. We bit our tongue thinking we were just unhappy with something cosmetic, and that we could live with the way it looked as long as it was functional and strong enough to take the pounding of three little boys. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. After some time passed there were enough warning signs of compromise in that wall and floor tile that we knew we had a poorly constructed bathroom that was not built to last. I can't speak about this group's talent in other areas, but I would not recommend Get Dwell for your bathroom work. Once our bathroom got stripped down again to start over and multiple comments were made by the new guys about the odd and sloppy construction work performed underneath that bad tile job, I wanted to make sure I let other people aware of what happened to us. Definitely one of the most costly mistakes I've ever made.

Our experience with them has been great. They are a local company that we use and they have been very helpful. They do a good job and we can’t really think of anything bad.

Used Get Dwell for some carpentry work. Agreed to terms and work commenced. Darryl, the owner, left his carpenter (Andre) to do the work. Andre worked an hour then left. He did not have the proper tools although he knew in advance what the job required. Three hours later he returned (after I called to see where he was). Andre worked for another hour and a half. Total time at house: 2.5 hrs. When leaving, Andre did not clean up his worksite, asked me to store his tools in my garage at my liability risk, and tried to bill me for way more hours than he actually worked. He agreed that he did not work those hours and said it'd be okay if I paid in full the following day. I agreed and told him I'd call Darryl to explain. Minutes after Andre left, I left Darryl a message explaining the situation. I said if it was okay great, if not, I'd make immediate amends. Darryl took almost 5 hours to return my call (I wasn't home). The following morning we connected. During the call, I calmly explained what occurred. Darryl went on to threaten me that they would not return to finish the job unless I paid their arbitrary price. He also insinuated I was a deadbeat for "refusing" to pay even though his employee told me I did not have to. I was not happy to say the least (mind you, I did another job with Darryl months ago and paid immediately without an issue). After more threats and poor behavior from Darryl, I told him fine, just show up and finish the job. What was I going to do, leave the wood to be exposed? The following day Andre returned to finish under agreement that I only approved four hours and would need to approve any extra time. Three hours and thirty minutes later, Darryl showed up, job and agreed time unfinished, damage to my brickwork, poor quality wood, poor workmanship, debris all over, to help Andre grab his tools and leave. Andre, once again did not want to clean worksite but Darryl at least knew to not leave site with debris (although a lot was still left). I'm outraged at how utterly unprofessional Darryl Rose and Get Dwell are. Arrogant and bully come to mind. If you don't agree with his terms, although they were incorrect, he doesn't care and threatens you. Poor workmanship and material. Cheap. I'm left now with an unfinished project that will certainly be greatly affected if it rains soon. Andre's work ethic is also quite questionable too. I've never dealt with such a poor contractor before. I'm not too sure he really gets that he was being unprofessional. That's what bothers me most. This was probably over $85 - $100 worth of work. Ridiculous. I told him I was going to share my experience with others. More threats and accusation I was being vindictive. Yeah, being ripped off does that to a person I suppose. If you live in the North Shore I highly recommend going elsewhere. At least ask why he treated one of his customers in such a poor fashion. Push him a bit on it and see how he responds. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! I'll be filing a complaint with BBB shortly as well (although they are not BBB accredited). I'd also like to add that for three months I asked Darryl for help with a flooding issue. He knew this was stressful to both my wife and I. Every time I asked he gave a different excuse. After all that, I stupidly still went with his services for the carpentry work. Lastly, if you look on Yelp, make sure to read "filtered" results. A lot of unhappy customers of Get Dwell.

Wanted to charge us almost 4 times as much as any other estimates we got. 4 TIMES! Also, we had a deal we had purchased at a charity auction for 4 hours of free labor. They tried to tell us that we were using one hour of labor to give us the estimate. That's not how it works! We will never use our deal from the charity auction for 4 hours of labor because it will be MUCH cheaper to use someone else with no deal than to use Get Dwell with any deal.

I called and there was someone out within 30 minutes. Scott was really nice, seemed very knowledgeable and very honest. I showed him what I needed done and he got started. As far as the price goes, I think it's a reasonable price - probably not the cheapest you could find, but I thought it was worth it and I will definitely use them again in the future. I have no reference point on prices for services like this, so I could be wrong - maybe it is cheap, or maybe it is more expensive than i realized. I just know that it seemed relatively reasonable to me, I liked the guy and he did what I asked, so I will definitely use them again.

It went very well. Not much to my project. They came for an estimate, returned to measure in detail, offered options and finished the work well within expectations. Nice guys too!

They were very easy to do business with and returned my call promptly. The person who came out did a great job, and suggested and completed an additional repair to shore up one wall of our screened porch, which had become loose.

It went perfectly. Our 'handyman' was so pleasant and easy to work with! From the moment he arrived, I knew it was a good decision to use this company. The owner even came over to help with carrying one of the heavy items from the basement! I would definately recommend them!

Overall, I was totally satisfied with how they did the job.

They are very up front with the pricing and tell you how much time the think it will take to repair at the beginning. They do good work and are very reliable.

Overall a very good job. The quality of the work was good. They built a railing on a deck and it looks great. They also helped redo an upstairs bathroom.

Overall, the owner is a really nice guy. He seemed thorough when he gave us the estimate to fix our stinky crawlspace. When I was dubious about what he suggested as the solution, we began playing phone tag and never got in touch with one another again. Moreover, he was supposed to send out a carpenter to give us an estimate on a front porch rebuild but never did. I got the sense that he was annoyed that I didn't accept his initial proposal for the crawlspace despite my attempt to work with him on a solution. When I didn't agree to his inital proposal, he clearly had no incentive to send out someone to give us a porch estimate. My sense is that many of these companies would prefer to work with bigger ticket clients who don't question their proposals. I was really impressed with the owner's professionalism upon first meeting with him but was quickly disappointed by his lack of professionalism when he didn't follow through with the porch estimate and didn't make much effort to discuss my concerns with his crawlspace proposal in which he suggested we build vents that might compromise our stucco. Finally, the way Get Dwell estimates work costs are really undesirable for most customers. Basically, they give you an estimate with the condition that if any problems occur as a result of the work they're performing, the price will increase as needed. While I understand this rationale to some extent, customers who are on budgets have no room for the "maybes." I was able to find a handyman who gave me an all-inclusive price.

I hired Jeremy at Get Dwell to build about twelve modular training props for our contractor school. Jeremy came in immediately, built an estimate in a day, picked everything up and finished the job 4 days ahead of schedule. We're so happy- the props look great, in spite of the fact that Jeremy had to re-design some aspects of the plans, which were flawed. Highly recommended.

A plumber come in and change out a toilet. The plumber had to move the water line. But I needed to have the wall repaired before they could put the toilet in. I called Get Dwell at 9am and they were here by 12pm. We were able to get the toilet in quickly so we did not have to wait on the installation. It was a good price for the work that was done. They are very responsive and they can work with my schedule. They actually do a Home Maintenance Program. The last time I used them they came and went throughout the whole house. They are very thorough in their work. They are reasonably priced and they are easy to get into your house. They are available and they do a good job.

I haven?t had the chance to have them back to do any work yet but I plan on scheduling the work with them. Their quote was pretty reasonable and it definitely met my expectations; I believe they charge $50 an hour. They sent a person out to view all of the work and give me an estimate.

They are very reliable and they are the kind of people who I can call for anything. There are some things that they may not be able to do it but they will certainly talk to me about it. At one time, there was situation where we thought that we were overpaying for something that we really didn?t want. But, the man who did that job is no longer with them. Their pricing is very reasonable and I have been satisfied with their service.

Get Dwell did a nice job overall, though the work went a lot slower than expected-and we were paying an hourly rate. As the hours mounted, I became increasingly nervous about the final cost of the project. In the end, though, Darryl made things right by not charging us for the full time, thereby keeping the total cost at the outer limit of our estimate range. The quality of their work was good, and I appreciated that I could feel confident leaving them in my house on their own. The challenge is that their hourly rates are at the higher end for handyman-type services yet I believe some of the other services offer comparable quality. Darryl also expressed some reluctance to provide estimates before taking on projects, which made me nervous that a project might become a lot more expensive than I had anticipated. Bottom line is I would recommend Get Dwell as a trustworthy, quality provider for people who aren't overly concerned how much they end up spending.

It was a very positive experience. The only negative was they did not offer to take the parts that could not be returned to the store to the basement.
