Chalet Landscape Nursery & Garden Center

It was very favorable. They had a good design team. They were very prompt. They had good suggestions for designs for planting. Overall, it was a positive experience.

The person was courteous and thorough, giving me the information requested. I respect their expertise and frequently purchase plants, supplies and equipment from them.

They’re very expensive but they do a really good job. We had other companies that just do the lawn and they’re gone. But these people would go into the beds, clean the beds out, pull weeds, and the whole nine yards. They’ll even water during the summer. They out in a little garden for my wife to grow vegetables and that cost extra. They charge us $100 a week but it depends on the size of your property. They did a nice job, they’re really on top of it. I like that they’re always on time every week. The landscaper will design something, we’ll go over it and he’ll go with us to their garden center and we’ll go through the plants and pick out what we wanted. There’s been times when we have to leave town and he comes around to make sure the plants are watered. He’s always following up.

They are pretty good. They are pretty expensive than some other landscape company but I use them for landscape like fertilization and fungicide and stuff like that. They provide other services as well like cut the grass. They are twice as expensive as the guy that I'm using but I did not use them to cut the grass but I do use them for their annual fertilization program and disease control. For some reason, the guy was saying they skip one service, there were 5 services a year for the annual fertilization program. The lawn was clean so they did not do one of them, I don't know how to call that. I thought I need to call them to find out but last week I did call in to ask them to come and check the grass. The guy came over and looked at the grass for me and he said there are some disease going on like dollar sign disease and stuff like that. They came the second day to put some fungicide. I think their quality is pretty good, I do know that the lawn has been we just bought the house this year but the lawn has been maintained pretty well. The previous owner has been using them for the lawn. I just want to cut the grass and stuff like that but it was too expensive, they charge like $80 for a cut and it's like $300 a month and that was too expensive for me. The guy was pretty professional and he seems to be knowledgeable about the different type of grass and disease and kind of programs that needed to make sure the lawn is growing pretty good. I was pretty impressed with the guy's knowledge. In terms of the fungicide that they put in last week, I'm yet to see the results, hopefully it would all be good and the disease is killed. Their quality is pretty good.

They are a nursery and landscaping company. Their prices are fair. They are interested in the customer's needs. The people that do the work are very professional and clean. They clean up afterwards.

Have used their guarantee once in past to replace a fungus infested honeysuckle. Absolutely no hassle.

In response to their response. They proposed Privet which if you look up is poisonous to dogs and according to the Chicago Botanic gardens and invasive species. The also gave me a quote for some arbor vitae trees for $7500 which i later had done for $1900 which is actually more than 3x cheaper. I wanted an estimate for some hedges for my yard. I clearly explained to the"landscape designer" that I have dogs and what my requirements were. He proceeded to give me an estimate for some hedges, which I later found out were POISONOUS to animals and also an invasive species. Not to forget 3x as expensive as any other estimate I received

I consider Chalet Landscape Nursery & Garden Center the best doing what they did. I think they're on top of their game. They're inexpensive. They are terrific. They were professionals in designing the landscape of my garden. If you want it done right, you should get Chalet Landscape Nursery & Garden Center.

I had a really good experience. They are really good company. They are a little on the pricey side but they do really good work and stand behind it.

they came and did every application as scheduled and if they could not make it they called. They said they would get rid of my weed issues quickly and they did. Apllication dates vary through the lawn growing season

The designer I used, Mike B. was lovely. He came to see the existing garden, brought his portfolio and listened to what I wanted. He came up with a beautiful plan which included keeping or repurposing much of the original trees and shrubs that were on the property and adding a patio and seat wall. He is a gentleman, creative, responsive and patient. The crew he brought to install phase I of the garden were very professional and Mike was there to supervise them.

Overall, the experience was good. They have a wide selection of specialty landscape materials and a knowledgeable staff.

We contacted Chalet's landscape design service who had us complete a brief questionare regarding scope of work. Promptly thereafter their landscape architect, Eric, contacted us to set up an in person/ on site meeting. He was very knowledable about urban gardens and very receptive to our ideas. He prepared a detailed drawing and estimate based upon our conversations. He was also receptive to staging the project to meet budget demands and not at all pushy. He showed us all the materials to be used in detail, and we set a date for install. Their crew came by prior to the install to see the scope of work and other items such as parking needs, etc. They started work exactly on time, cleaned up daily and finished exactly on time. Their attitude was highly professional from start to fininsh, and the quality of work was excellent. The final cost was exactly as estimated and not a penny over. It is hard to find a landscape company as professional and quality minded as Chalet. Their cost was not very different from other estimates, but their quality of work was significantly higher. There is a reason they have been in the business for over 70 years. Even though they are located in the Northshore, their urban/ city garden architects are wonderful. Our garden is a daily source of pleasure and has had many admirers. We would recommend them highly and plan to use them on a contining basis in the future.

They have a pretty large inventory of stuff. They also have a branch of their company that knows a lot about trees. It's not just a landscaping company; they are landscape engineers.

It was the second time we had used them. I was pleased with the design and how it turned out. I would recommend them and use them again.

We worked with Mark Webster who has been very helpful and knowledgeable. We meet each Spring to see what needs to be replaced or he may suggests some new plants. Also we have annuals planted to add color. He designed the space in front of our house recently which added new plants near the front sidewalk. His crew is very pleasant to deal with and are very knowledgable. They are very responsive to my questions regarding in inground sprinkler system, the lighting, the pond and our fountains. They just completed the last clean up this month.

My yard has an old climbing rose and clematis that needed to be pruned and cut back. I requested someone who knew how to prune roses and had knowledge of their habit. The Chalet, (Laura in design) , told me she was experienced with roses, clematis , japanese lilac tree, clean-up . She promised to be on site to tell the gardeners where to make cuts and how to handle the job. She said they bring tall ladders etc to do th work. 1.The crew, 2 men, showed up at 9 am. One mad started to make clips and cuts to my Japanese lilac. (fine) 2. She booked the crew for all day. They did not bring a tall ladder. 3. Laura did not arrive until 11:30 at which time the crew took lunch for an hour. Laura then had a man named Jason, the landscape designer, come to my yard to ask me my "goals" etc. He stayed for about an hour and I felt pressured to interact with him. I had asked Laura to just re-set my bricks in a nice line. She said no, that ws impossible it needed to be done with another crew. JI find out later they wanted to bury the bricks half way down in the ground. (Not what I wanted) Jason actually suggested I move my air conditioners so I could put a tree there. In fairness to Jason, I did not request him so this was not his responsibility. 4. Laura stayed until approx 1. She pointed to a few limbs on the lilac and said to cut the cross limbs and to take down the clematis that had grown approx to second story of neighbors house and had intertwined with the rose. It was a difficult job. She only directed the man for about 20 min if that. 5. The crew tore down the clematis vine and chopped to the ground. 6. In fairness, one of the crew members was very kind and helped me straighten out some bricks and helped mecarry heavy items. And clean areas. (he was very good and kind and I wish I could have just had hire him). 7. It began to downpour rain and thuder about 2 pm. Lasted til 2:45. The crew did not work (of course it was too dangerous0 and I asked them to leave. He sid he wouldn't because he needed to finish and clean and he was booked for a whole day. The crew wanted to clean up during the rain even though it was a terrible storm and even cubs game was delayed.I could not continue to show them what to do. Laura had left about 1. 8. I said I did not want to pay for the rain delay. 9. My yard looks awful. There was no thought or care to the aftermath.All the birds that used to visit have gone. The Chalet Nursery was completely mislead me. . The crew was not supervised. I turned down another company who was willing to supervise and prune, reset bricks and clean up. I chose THE CHALET, only because they said they had knowledge of how to prune (roses, clematis, lilacs,). I know I will be able to grow my yard back in a few years. It was an awful experience and misleading.. And it cost more then the time they were on the job.Thank you.

Good. Pricy. The staff ( every single one of them ) really knows their plants. Which ones need which conditions... Really impressed with how well everyone knows their stuff!

I had always wanted to go to the Chalet to see why people raved about. I finally had the time and went there. I will not go back the quality of the plants and the way they were organized made it hard to find what I was looking for. I did not buy everything that I needed for my flower beds and purchase the rest elsewhere. What I purchased elsewhere is doing much better than what was purchased at the Chalet even though they are planted next to each other. The people there were helpful with helping me locate plants.

I liked everything about them. They were just uppermost to do the work, everything from planning to installing. The price was good. The product was also great. I have nothing that I can think of that they should improve on. I would definitely recommend them to my friends. I would definitely use them again in the future too.

Chalet did not or could not offer a cost estimate. I was looking for a one stop shop. They said they did not do some things required for this work (Plumbing, Gutter Work, etc) & said that I needed to do that first. They were willing to get in to an open-ended contract, where they would sub-contract other companies to do parts of the work. I was not willing to do that.

We have been going to the Chalet for the past few years to purchase Christmas trees. This past year, about two weeks after we got the tree home, little black bugs started crawling out of it. I called the Chalet and this was nothing they had ever experienced before. After doing a little more research on the critters (some kind of aphid) and convincing the nursary that my house was not the source of the bugs, they did send a gift card in the mail to make up for my troubles. We had never had problems in the past and will continue to get our tree from there in the future. We have small children and the best is that they have two "reindeer" that live at the Chalet over the holiday season! More recently, I had purchased a plant at HD for a housewarming gift for a friend only to have centpieds start to crawl out of it! (I apparently don't have great luck with plants). I decided to return it and go to the chalet instead. They did a great job of helping me to pick out a plant and planter and even went above and beyond by adding spanish moss and gift wrapping. I will go back again!

They are the best. They didn't even want the business, they said they only do this for goodwill, we don't charge you. They are very good if you can afford them, they really know what they are doing. They are very open and honest, they know what they are doing and tell you what they are doing. I have bought plants from them in the past.

They have great selection, from "garden variety" to the exotic, at fair prices, well maintained. They're always helpful and knowledgable. Great website too. They'll look at pictures or a drawing and help you figure out what to put in. They love what they do and it shows.

Chalet Landscape was fantastic. Our house was in serious need of a landscaping makeover. The old layout looked like a crazy person put it together - nothing made sense, there were bushes that never grew flowers and there was no rhyme or reason to the choice of plants. Mike from Chalet came over to give us an estimate. He came over the same day. I told him I knew nothing about plants/gardening, etc. I said I just want it to look neater and not to be the worst looking yard in the neighborhood. He sent me a proposal right away - I thought the cost was too high and talked to Mike about how we can revise the proposal to meet our budget. He sent me a revised proposal right away coming UNDER my target budget. The crew came in the next day, worked throughout the day and got everything done. It looks fabulous! They did such a great job - it exceeded my expectations. I also want to note that this is high season for landscapers and I had called four other companies who never returned my call -- these guys were unbelievable. I highly recommend the Chalet!
