It was ok, it is just really expensive, I did not have them do any replating, just bought some pieces.Much cheaper for the parts in other places, I discovered after the fact. The lady that helped me was very nice, I think their service and support was good.
Description of Work: I bought a couple of pcs of old hardware to complete my remodel of some old restored doors.

It went wonderful. They kept to their word about time. They said it would take four to five weeks and that is about what it took. They were careful when moving the bed, they wrapped it with packing blankets when they moved it.
Description of Work: They picked up a brass bed. They polished, lacquered, and then returned it to my home.

I have a chrome plated table from the 1930's that had some bad swirls and scratches from wear and tear, bad polishing jobs, inappropriately applied abrasives, etc. I called Al Bar, sent them images of the table and swirls, and they came back with a fair quote (that wound up being slightly exceeded, but it was all fine, and well worth it). Not only did they remove the swirls, they got out the scratches and dings I had resigned myself to seeing forever! Al Bar picked up the table, dropped it off, up and down three flights of stairs. Great Job.
Description of Work: 1930's Art Deco Chrome Table - -Pick Up/Drop Off -Removed Swirl and Polishing Marks -removed Dings, dents, scratches -Fine Polish job

Very knowledgeable staff from the beginning. I felt I was in good hands and that they knew what they were doing. It was not cheap, but the work was excellent and the results are stunning.
Description of Work: Re-plating and refurbishment of several antique silver serving pieces (warming bowl, tray, lid, teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, etc.). Re-engraving on one of the pieces.

DON'T CHOOSE A COMPANY BASED ON A PERCEPTION THAT THEY OFFER HIGHER QUALITY SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THEIR LOCATION. I BROUGHT IN A DOOR HANDLE FOR AN ESTIMATE OF COST. THE EMPLOYEE WAS COOL AND ALOOF, DARE I SAY POMPOUS. THE PRICE THAT HE QUOTED WAS ASTRONOMICAL, ALMOST PUNITIVE. I HAD THE SAME PROCESS COMPLETED ON MY HOME IN ST. LOUIS FOR LESS THAN ONE THIRD WHAT THEY QUOTED ME. I KEPT CHECKING AND FOUND AN OWNER OPERATED SHOP WITH (I BELIEVE) BETTER QUALITY AT A MUCH, MUCH BETTER PRICE.

I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE TO REFINISH SOME OLD DOOR HARDWARE. THEY WERE WILLING TO PROVIDE AN APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE OVER THE PHONE. VERY COURTEOUS. THE ONLY REASON I DID NOT USE THEIR SERVICE IS BECAUSE IT DID NOT FIT INTO THE BUDGET OF MY PROJECT.

THE WORK WAS DONE IN THE 3-4 DAYS I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE. THE CONDITION OF OUR BRASS KICK PLATES AND DOOR KNOBS WAS VERY BAD, THEY WERE ABLE TO RESTORE THEM, REMOVE SCRATCHES AND SMALL DENTS AND REFINISH THE BRASS WITH A BEAUTIFUL RESULT! IT WAS EXPENSIVE DUE TO THE LARGE SIZE OF OUR KICK PLATES.
Description of Work: REPLATED BRASS DOOR HANDLES, PLATES AND LARGE KICK PLATES.
