The Team at Assured Air has provided great service for us for about 20 years including two new installs (different houses) and providing custom ductwork at yet another house. Our lastest experience was also excellent - thanks Ted, Rick, Matt and the rest of the team that worked on this installation!

The installation in 2014 was fine - at the time. Within the 6 year warranty, the pressure tank on the heater failed and began to leak all over the floor. As I researched, I discovered that the install of the pressure tank was done incorrectly (on its side instead of vertical) and likely caused the failure. When I called Assured, they had a guy come out who looked at it and said they don't install pressure tanks and it must have been on my old water heater. (As an aside, I understand that these tanks are highly recommended to avoid backflow into the intake line and also required by many village codes). Even if it may have been the case that they didn't put the original in, they did reinstall it (could see where the fresh welding was on the heater last time) incorrectly on to my new heater. I was frustrated that they didn't take the time to install that correctly and asked that they fix their faulty install - I even offered to pay for the new pressure tank. The employee got the supervisor got on the phone with me and he argued that it wasn't their issue. He said they'd take care of it and "don't ever f---king call them again". Then employee got back on the phone with the supervisor who then, instead, told him just to leave my house. Totally unprofessional.

Response from Assured Air Ltd
The above review is wrong. We do not install water heater expansion tanks. We did not install it originally and do not install them currently. We do not stock water heater pressure tanks and have limited access to get them since they are a plumbing item. We typically recommend the customer to call a plumber and even give out a couple names and number they can call. I do not believe that we even got paid for the service call to show up to the customers home. I do recall that the customer tried to hire our serviceman after hours and on the side stating that he would run out and pick up the part if he would install it, our serviceman refused. By this time it was already the end of the day. I do not recall the supervisor swearing. Unfortunately sometimes there are repairs that are not in our scope of work and a plumber, electrician or carpenter may be needed. We apologize for the situation but please keep in mind that we are a heating and a/c company that replaces water heaters but does not do other forms of plumbing. Note: the 6 year warranty applies to the water heater, not the external pressure tank.

They ordered the necessary part for the hot water tank and performed the work as required at a reasonable price. We have a complicated 5 zone system in our house for radiant heat and didn't know why some areas were not getting the hot water supply. Its a good thing that Rick knew what he was doing because I had a couple other companies evaluate the problem that didn't properly address the issue. Very reasonable rates too. I saved $200 from what I was quoted by competitors like Freedom Heating. Assured Air has earned my long term business for HVAC.

Assured replaced an A/C compressor under warranty. They came out right away and quickly determined the issue. There was a delay in the repair as the manufacturer was slow to get the compressor sent out. Ted followed up with the manufacturer several times and showed great tenacity in getting the issue resolved. Once he got the compressor, his tech, Rich, was out the next morning and completed the install. Ted & his team demonstrate a "customer first" attitude and I will turn to Assured Air for all my HVAC needs.

Initial activity was a furnace and air conditioning service & check in April. At the time everything was checked and determined to be ok. By November, we noticed leakage from a condensation line and had a f/u appt. scheduled for the 17th. During that visit, the tech said that there was a copper piece in the condensate tubing and that was causing a blockage leading to the leak. He blew the piece and subsequent build-up out and told my husband and I all about how he doesn't understand how a piece like that can be left in there, he thinks it was left over from the install and no one at his company would do such a thing. To which I informed him, that they'd been out early that year to check to service it, and he didn't know how it was missed. He told me I owed the $80 service fee, which surprised me given our conversation about how the problem should have been recognized. Since it was the weekend, I went ahead a paid, but left a message for the company to give me a call back about the issue. And thus began the issue that really frustrated me, which was the complete lack of response. I called multiple times for weeks to speak with someone about the issues and was told someone would call me back. Mind you, I had health issues all through December which made it difficult to talk, and I told one gentleman this during a call in December and still, no one had the courtesy to give me a call back. In January, I was told the owner would be in that afternoon and would give me a callback. Nothing. Cue today, and I'm livid because we're going on 3 months and I don't have a final response regarding this issue. So I call, share my frustration, and am transferred to Brandon, who's the supervisor. We started on poor terms, when he interrupted me while I was describing my situation to inform me that a service check doesn't mean things can't change in a few months. Understood. That's not my issue. The issue is there was copper found in the line and that doesn't just appear out of thin air. His response is that the technicians aren't robots and there's no way they can see through white tubing. I inform him that my tube is clear and he informs me that there's no way to refund the service charge and it shouldn't matter because if they had found the issue during the April appointment then I would have had an extra charge to cover it. At that point, I informed him that I was done with this company. But really: would the cost for him to blow air through the tubing to dislodge the copper have equaled $80? This feels unlikely. And after months of back and forth, it's beyond disappointing to have that response.

We have only serviced this customer 2 times and did not do the installation at her [Member Information Removed]. The 1st visit was 4/25/18 and we preformed 2 clean and checks to the furnace and air, the work done at this visit has a 30 day labor guaranty. The 2nd visit was 11/17/18, almost 7 month later. I personally talked to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] just before the holidays and and discussed this with her fully. Unfortunately there is no way that we could warranty her 2nd call months later that had nothing to do with the clean and checks performed prior. The serviceman during the 2nd call even charged her straight time ($80.00 vs $120.00) for a weekend call, feeling for the situation. Also Brandon talked to her just before this review re-explaining the situation. We did the best we could for this customer and really tried to explain the situation to her but she would not take no for a answer, we did the best we could for her. Unfortunately she had a issue pop up months after her clean and checks were done with a condensate pump line and did not understand why she had to pay for it. The $80.00 charged is our diagnosis charge that includes travel to the customers [Member Information Removed] and time to diagnose the problem, all charges were correct, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thank you for the nice review. We carry Rheem water heaters and have standard 40 and 50 gallon units in stock. We also do powervent units and storage tank units, typically off of a residential boiler (Triangle Tube or Weil Mc Clain brand). We are able to work on and install tankless units if desired. We work in conjunction with a local plumber in our area but residential heating and air are our main focus. We carry water heaters has a additional service for our customers should they not have a plumber they normally work with. Our work is good, our equipment is name brand and our prices are fair.

The customer purchased the job originally through Angie's list. We got the notice of the sale. Contacted the customer and verified that the furnace he purchased would work for his home. We then traded emails and pictures. After confirming the size the job was set up and we went out and completed the installation. Everything went very well, has planned. We appreciate the nice grade given and nice words the customer has stated about our company. We hope to retain this customers business going forward. Thank you!

“It’s nice to know you’re not crazy!” That’s what the chief troubleshooter from Assured Air told me on September 22, 2016 after he diagnosed the faulty thermal expansion valve in the evaporator/air handler of my “new” SpacePak air conditioning system. It was a good joke…my kind of joke, he’s a nice guy, and he’s right. It Is nice to know that you’re not crazy. On the other hand, that AC system was installed on June 12, 2015—not so new! That’s no joke! It took Assured Air two full summers of my being a questioning, complaining, “crazy” customer for them to properly diagnose and fix my system. And it was finally fixed by a simple part replacement! Two summers of my new $16,000 system cooling the second floor about as well as the two old 8,000BTU we previously used up there (about $800 worth) (The tech said the system was putting out about 1/3 of what it should). Two summers of being told that an attic fan “had been Suggested” and now was clearly necessary to help with the hot attic (Buy More Stuff!). Two summers of being told that I needed better curtains to keep the sun out. Two summers of my asserting that the system should work correctly first and then we can worry about details. But most importantly, and weirdly, two summers of telling me that the system was actually operating properly when it clearly wasn’t. SpacePak national technical support said that with those symptoms it wasn’t working correctly. Anyone that I checked with that knew about AC systems including a paid 3rd party troubleshooter wrinkled their eyebrows when I related Assured Air’s claim. The technical problem was that the Anti-Frost Switch in the evaporator (inside the house) was shutting down the compressor unit (outside the house) every 10-15 minutes (and triggering a clear warning light) while continuously running the evaporator fan inside--even though the thermostat temperature was never reached and the coldest air coming out of a vent was 60F degrees-sometimes warmer. This means that, for some reason, something was freezing inside the evaporator and shutting down the system before it could really get cooling the house. Assured Air had workmen look at the system, including replacing the Anti-Frost warning switch, before they gave up. After that, in numerous phone calls, Ted (the owner) told me that the warning light was normal and instead chose to focus on subsidiary issues like attic fans and curtains. It did this for two summers. The 3rd party troubleshooter suggested that I ask Assured one more time to look at the system after he heard an odd noise in the condenser outside. When they came out and focused on that part of the system it lead to discovery of the bad thermal expansion valve. which made the system work properly…finally! And now that it’s fixed, it never cycles except on the thermostat and it puts out 45F degree air. I ran it when it was 68F degrees outside and it never froze. Since that repair happened in the fall, I haven’t had a chance to test it fully on a hot day but it’s finally looking hopeful. I chose Assured Air because Ted gave a good sales pitch and because they came in with the lowest price out of four bids. The installation went very smoothly and the crew finished a day earlier than they quoted. The installation crew were unfailingly courteous and very clean. I had cleaning to do after they left but no more than normal house cleaning. These are surely not the animals described in another review. I’m not sure why Ted dug his heels in, ignored the warning lights, and reverted to armchair quarterbacking rather than actively pursuing the cause of my system’s…His system’s…problem but he did. This is puzzling as he and his company seem to get mostly good reviews—Not from me though. Watch out!

I want this review to stay has it is and never be altered. First off I want to point out the positives. We gave the customer the fairest, lowest price on the job. Our crew was nice, courteous, clean, and completed the job on or before time. We stuck it out with the customer fielding numerous calls via phone, warranty visits and calls to the manufacturer. It took some time but ultimately the customers problem was solved. I believe this review should be a C or possibly a B but unfortunately we are in a society that does not give credit where it is due. We do not manufacture the equipment, we are installers and servicers. The problem was hard to diagnose due to it being irratic. The location where the unit had to be placed was extreemely tight. The part that failed normally never does and is in a horrible location in the unit to replace. I had to arm chair quarterback the problem because I am almost 50 years old and I have not physically worked in the field for years. Ultimately we solved a tough irratic problem that did not show itself during most visits. We lost money on the job and still gave customer service standing behind the equipment we installed. We recommended a attic fan and some shading based on temperature differences on the second floor where the bedrooms are located. Looking back many thermal expansion valve manufactures had problems that year. We can provide this information if desired or you can Google it. Unfortunately it does take some time for these problems to manifest themselves and for manufactures to send out service bulletins and ultimately own up to their being a problem. We did everything we could to satisfy this customer. We are premium Space Pak installers that have completed many, many jobs. I would recommend that you look at all of our reviews and not let this one hinder your decision. We are a company that provides fair prices, good installations and good equipment plus we do stand behind our work. I believe we are a upstanding company that will do its very best for its customers.

We take pride in offering our customers what they need. This customer bought from Angie's list and we confirmed the size that was needed. After confirmation we booked the job and completed the install in about 4 hours. The job went has planned and there were no hidden extra charges. At our company we feel that the customer should consider how long they are going to be in the home. If they are considering a move within the next 5 years, then a basic unit should be fine. If they are going to be in the home for more than 8 years, then they should consider a higher efficiency unit. Thank you for the nice report.

Richard and his assistant showed up on time and worked all day until the installation was completed. They were very careful to cover my floors and clean up as they left. I went out for the estimate. The homeowner was focused on the units he was interested in and wanted to take advantage of the current utility rebates. I did notice a zoning system with out a barometric damper which we corrected. The home was in very nice condition and has with all of our jobs I reminded the guys to tarp off the areas that we would come in contact with. The job was done by my son, who has worked with us the past few summers and Rich, who has been with us since 1996. Personally I have known him since 1991. No, question that everything is now clean and much more efficient.
Description of Work: Assured Air Ltd was a great service. Initially, the service person thought he may be unable to do the job, since the only way to get through to my furnace was through my window wells which were unfortunately sealed. Luckily Brandon had the office deliver some extra pipe and ran it all the way down from my front door. He checked all the intake and outtakes and cleaned out the registers. He also sanitized the vents. He also suggested the correct type of filter for proper air flow in my house when using my air conditioning and furnace unit. With the warmer weather this weekend, I could see a marked improvement in the air flow through our home as well as the dust levels.

First thank you for the nice report Brandon does a very good job doing our duct cleanings. Typically when a customer calls to request information on one or schedule one, we direct them to our web site. Under the air duct cleaning tab there is a You Tube video there that they can watch and then fully understand the process and equipment. We feel that with the proper amount of time and the right equipment, that after our service the home should have clean duct work for about 10 years. Providing of course that the filter is properly maintained. We also do not try to up charge our customers. The price they are quoted is the price they pay. BEWARE! This is a case of fraud. I had to pay $75 diagnosis fee to another provider that determined the A/C fan motor was running in reverse. The wires were mixed by the prior technician (Rich) at Assured Air that I called initially to give me a quote to upgrade HVAC units. He took the unit apart to get information the unit size. This was also fraud. There is no way for him to know the unit size by the compressor. However, even if he did not sell me the unit, he knew that if he crossed the wires, I would call him for service. After I complained initially to Angie?s List, Rich did not think I would leave a negative remark since he said he fixed the issue of the noise that resulted when the wires were left loose after putting back the unit that he took apart, then lied he never took the unit apart. I had to complain to Angie?s List and the owner of Assured Air; there is no other means of contacting the owner without Angie?s List because they only use an answering service. Rich contacted me to let me know that I left a negative remark. Now I have evidence of the trail of damages Rich and his company left behind. I am responding to the Provider's Response dated Jun 11, 2015: Bottom line, your company cost me $75 for a free estimate I requested. By the time I came outside to meet with Rich, he already had the unit apart, without my permission. I am shocked at the responses. The story they tell is NOT quite how it happened. They think women are stupid? An apology and termination of employment would have been a better response. I told Rich that I would not have suggested a 22 year old unit be touched. After speaking with many other companies in the industry and receiving many estimates, not one ever touched that unit to provide an estimate. They all had the same size documented on the estimate. The manufacturer totally disagrees with this company, they were surprised the unit was handled in the first place. Just a warning to the public: buyer beware. Thank goodness for Angie's List. I am happy to inform the members of my personal experience for others to make an informed decision in the consumers best interest. I wish I only had this information prior to my contact with them.
Description of Work: Richard came to provide an estimate. I thought it was odd that he took apart a 22 year old AC because he wanted to get the part number for the compressor. No other estimators did this, however, they all guess the same size compressor. Richard moved the AC unit from the original position on cement slab turning the unit sideways to get into the machine to take a photo and sent it to the office to find the size. He closed the AC lid and had a difficult time. I should have tested the AC and did not. Today, hot, 90 degrees, turned on the air, and it sounded like it's grinding and going to explode. I contacted the company, Richard returned my call, said he never touched the machine. Lied to my face. The estimate was never provided until today; 2 weeks later. I told him I would report him to Lisa Madigan, Fraud Department.

We checked with Rich on this and found out that there were no model numbers visible on the exterior silver tag that is on the unit. He proactively removed the condenser top to take the compressor model number that is located on the top of the black compressor inside the unit. We sent Rich out there to accommodate a specific request for a late evening estimate or Saturday. The heat came in and he has been working a lot of hours. Unfortunately it took him a little longer to get this customer a quote. Her call for noise came into the office yesterday and we quickly scrambled to do our best. Rich went out to her home last night at 8 pm found that the wires from the fan were hitting the motor a little bit and making the odd noise. He corrected it at no charge since he did take off the top. He checked the unit for proper operation also at no charge while he was there and apologized for the situation. He stated that upon leaving the customer was happy. I personally think he went above and beyond. Trying to figure out the size of the current unit. That involved taking off the top, getting the compressor number and then making a few calls to suppliers to figure out the compressor size. Plus returned within hours of the noise complaint. We are sorry for this situation, but sometimes things happen and when they do we are willing to correct them, how many companies are doing that now a days.

Thanks for the nice report. It really boils down to our workers. They have been with us for years. They are now mostly family men that appreciate having work and like working with us and for our customers. They do the work how they would do it in their own home. Plus keep things clean and neat. On our end we really strive to provide our customers with fair pricing and a lot of times I am told that are pricing is the lowest around. Hats off to both our workers and our customers, together we make a great team!

Was working with 2 other companies. Air assure came in lower and was able to do the work right away. About a month ago there was a minor part that needed to be replaced with the unit. It was no hassle and no charge when they fixed it right away.
Description of Work: Replaced central air unit. Deal included a thermostat.

I believe we saved this customer quite a bit of money. She had been waiting for her contractor to come through at a higher price, then decided to go with us for the job. The job was right down the street from our shop. It took about 4 hours to complete. We took great pride in providing her with a fair price and we were happy to hear that we saved her some money. The work went according to plan. A few months later American Standard had a service recall for a ground screw. We came out replaced and relocated the screw and all was well. We really try to do the best by our customers and we appreciate the nice report. The work was done earlier this year.

A bit pricey but they came out and performed all work as requested. It does not seem like the generated a lot of dust/build up but that may not be their fault.

Sergio did the duct cleaning. The bill was $299.99 for 4 hours. He cleaned all the ducts (return and supply) as well has all the mains (trunk lines both supply and return). All went well. He did recommend a yearly clean and check. The work was completed on 4/01/14. The customer was satisfied at the time the work had been completed and signed the service ticket. the price quoted was the price charged to the customer. Thanks for the nice report.

Ted was the customer service rep that I dealt with at Assured Air. He always got right back to me with any questions that I had and was very polite and professional. With his help I was able to choose the right furnace for my house. The installers, Frank and Al, showed up about ten minutes prior to the scheduled time which was ten am. They were both very nice, professional and knowledgeable. They took out the old furnace completely and hauled it away. They installed the new furnace, ran new PVC pipes to the outside of my house, one for venting, and the other for fresh air to be drawn into the furnace. The drilling of the new holes through my brick basement walls, the wooden supports and concrete facing is what took the longest, but they still finished in one day, at about four pm. They installed the whole house humidifier and ran a water line to it to ensure its proper function. They also ran a new drain line from the humidifier to my basement's floor drain and made sure it was properly set up and secure. After installing the new thermostat and making sure everything was running and operating correctly, they took the time explain everything to me. Frank took me step by step over everything that they did. He showed me the new electrical work that they put in. He went over the humidifier, the controls for it and how to use it, the winter summer damper, how it works and its purposes, how to change the water pad, and if need be, how to turn off the water that goes to the humidifier. Frank then made sure I knew what size filter I need for the furnace and what size pad I needed for the humidifier and how to properly change each one. Frank then walked my wife and I through all the different features of the thermostat and how to use each one. After answering any and all questions that my wife and I had, they cleaned up everything and took their leave. I was very excited to get my new furnace, and after they had finished, I was even more excited and happy. I don't think I could have made a better choice in choosing a new furnace, and especially the company to install it. I am thoroughly satisfied!
Description of Work: I got a brand new, 95% efficient furnace installed, with a whole house humidifier, and a brand new programmable thermostat all for about $3,000.00.

This customer made their purchase through Angie's lists big deal. Upon their purchase we traded e mails and received the information needed to choose a compatible unit. They up graded to a 95% unit and also added a thermostat and humidifier. We scheduled a date and then showed up and completed the work. Everything went has expected. We really appreciate the great report. We deal with people's problems and it is rare if a job or service go well, that we hear little to any positive feedback. It is really nice to respond to this report as well. I will pass this on to the guys to keep them motivated in the future. Thank you and let's all try to treat each other like we would like to be treated. Communication is the key!

They came out to do the air duct cleaning, but it seemed like their machine was not strong enough. We watched, as no dust whatsoever was being pulled out, and the bag was not filling. We asked them to stop because it was not working. They were very nice and understanding, it just did not work out.

This customer bought the air duct cleaning through Angie's list. We quickly responded and set up the work to be preformed. The job was a little out of our range near the Northbrook area, but we scheduled it anyway. The husband set up for the work to be done and then upon showing up to do the job only the wife was present. The process and the equipment were explained to the husband. Our tech set up the equipment and did close to a hour of the job (4 vents) and then the wife questioned the suction of the machine. She wanted cardboard to stick to the vent and it would not. We use news paper to block off each vent and the tech stated that the news paper stuck to the vent fine, meaning that we had good suction. The wife requested us to pull off the job and we did after we cleaned up and agreed to allow them to contact Angie's list for a full refund of their money. Just yesterday Joe contacted me stating he had little success attaining the refund, I proactively contacted my rep at Angie's list and later that day upon checking with him, he stated they took care of the refund. We discussed the situation a bit and he kind of agreed that his wife was looking for something more extreme. I personally told him that I have used to machines we have and that they do a very good job on single system homes up to 3500 square feet. I also directed him to the video on our site under the air duct cleaning tab which shows the entire process. Overall he seemed understanding. Unfortunately it did not work out for this customer, but on our end we lost just over 3 hours of time, gas and received no money at all. I think we were very professional in our handeling of the situation and I recommend our future customers to please watch the video at our web site prior to purchase and to try to be home while the work is being preformed. The decent report is appreciated and I think this response shows that we stand behind our work, wanting to do right by our customers.

They do high velocity central air systems. They were very professional and very straightforward. They are one of the few companies it seems in the area that specialize in high velocity systems. We hope to use them once we can afford it.

Sometimes we do estimates and the customer has to budget for the work to be preformed. I have had customers call up years later asking us for current pricing on quotes that were done in the past. All we need to know is the year the quote was given and we are typically able to locate it and refresh the pricing. In some situations we may have to revisit the home. I have found that pricing seems to go up anywhere from 5 to 10% per year. This is due to price changes in material and sometimes labor. The other day I did a estimate for a customer that was planning and budgeting to replace his system in a couple of years. We try to be proactive either way, if you are doing now or later. Thanks for the nice report.

Our serviceman was sent out to install the customers humidifier. Upon getting to the home and preparing to install the customers by pass humidifier the serviceman noticed that the unit may not provide adequate humidity for the size of the home and recommended a power humidifier that produces a little more humidity and covers a larger square footage of home. Everything went well with the humidifier installation. Then the clean and check was completed. We really try to make sure things are done once and done right for our customers. If we notice a problem we try to bring it to the customers attention immediately. We want things to be done correctly for our customers. Thanks for the nice report!

Awesome Experience! They were prompt professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I was very wary of being rated up for extras since that has happened to me in the past from other installers, but there was absolutely no extra charges. The new unit looks great and our testing proved that the unit ran cold. Can't wait for a steamy day to really try it out. Ted was great from our first contact, keeping me informed with phone calls and emails before the install. I would highly recommend this company.

The installation went very well. Rich and Matt did the job. The customer purchased the special via Angie's list. Prior to us comming out we confirmed the existing units model number. We also sent a reminder e mail a day prior to the installation. We really strive to do right by our customers and we are going on 21 years of operation this year. Our company was founded by giving our customers fair pricing, quality workmanship and quality equipment. We continue to do this today and will continue to do so in the future. Thanks for the nice report and we hope to have created a life long customer.
