OH MY GOD! This company is beyond amazing. We were in the market to get our cabinets refaced and let me tell you, this company blew us out of the water on so many levels! For starters, we looked at a couple big box retailers and their prices were extremely high so when we met with the owner Dennis, we were skeptical. Once he gave us the price, I felt like it was too good to be true. His price was 40% cheaper than the big box stores and this was getting everything we wanted from Dennis. Dennis was one of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure with dealing with. He was always on time, extremely professional and honesty. The person who worked on out cabinets was Joe. Let me tell you, this man is an artist! His attention to detail on the cabinets was amazing. I feel like they have revived our kitchen and our house. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to do a cabinet refacing! Thank you again!!

Awesome. Dennis really knows his stuff, and he and Joe were perfectionists when it came to installing the flooring and baseboards. We also got new laminate countertops that look like granite, and new kitchen cabinet doors/drawers and hardware. Just as meticulous. We love it. Looking to fix up the house to sell it, and they really worked with our budget and gave helpful suggestions.

We recently used KD Kitchen and Bath to reface our kitchen cabinets. We had oak cabinets and now they are a beautiful antique white with a light tan glazing. Joe was the installer and he did just a fantastic job. Joe was on time every day and he was extremely careful working in our home. Joe also cleaned up at the end of each day and he worked very hard to make everything just right. We are very satisfied with the end result. Dennis ( the owner) was responsive to getting our needs met. The project was finished on time and there were no hidden surprises or any additional costs.

They did a great job. I am very pleased with my kitchen, but they are from a distance, and I might try to use someone closer. I am definitely pleased with the end product. The pricing was really good. They only thing was that they didn't do the plumbing under the sink correctly. We didn't know it until we had a plumber come and replace it. He said that there were five code violations. So, the plumbing aspect of their company I wasn't as impressed with. The woodworking, counter-tops, appliances, and everything else was great; excellent. Everything turned out beautifully, I couldn't be happier. The overall product, when people come in they go, "Wow"! It's a "wow" kitchen. I got a lot for the money, however the one thing was the plumbing under the sink, and the electrical wasn't top notch either. We had to have an electrician come in to fix a couple of things. Those two aspects were not as high quality as the other things. He had his own workers doing that, rather than subcontracting a plumber and electrician, and they didn't know the code as well as they should've. If I used them again, I would insist on them hiring an electrician or plumber to do those jobs, or I would hire them to do the job. They were always polite, and never had an issue with that. I thought they were very professional. When Dennis said he would be here, he was here every time.

Looked beautiful when first completed, but within a year - paint was flaking off terribly on bathroom doors, drawers, vanity, etc. Kitchen cabinets have a few issues, as well. I called Dennis Grundler 3 times to express my dissatisfaction - to which he always PROMISED he'd take care of everything. Long, sad story short - he has NEVER come by to take a look at my sad looking cabinets OR contacted me with a reason as to why he's not been here yet. I am so disappointed in myself for trusting - that this was a reputable company who would stand behind their work.

Mr. Grundler showed up, reviewed our project in detail, offered some good ideas and seemed very knowledgeable --but we never heard from him again. If the company decided they didn't want to submit a bid, they should have told us, instead of making us wait. Not bothering to tell us was very unprofessional.

This was one of the best home improvement projects we have ever done. Dennis & Bob in sales were knowledgeable, professional, and patient as we considered our options. Once we made up our minds we were able to schedule a date that fit our schedule perfectly. On the appointed day Joe showed up and went to work immediately. We cannot say enough about Joe. His work is meticulous. At the end of the day and at the end of the job the work site was thoroughly cleaned up. The kitchen looks great! The job took a little longer than anticipated because Joe took the time to do a great job. We couldn't be more pleased.

Mike installed our new granite countertops and he did an excellent job. He came over and took the measurements one evening and within 10 days he came back to install the countertops and he did a really good job. The actual tearing down of the old countertop and installing of the new one (which was pre-fabricated) only took about 5 to 6 hours. He was very professional and there was very minimal mess left behind. Steve also did an excellent job in installing our backsplash. We had a pattern for the backsplash and it was done very nicely. The first day it took about 6 hours and the next day about 3 hours to complete the job. He was also very professional and left minimal mess behind. We are very happy with the results and would definitely call K D Kitchens if we have more jobs to be done.

Dennis cares about his customers; we can't say that about one of his subs, unfortunately. Our only recommendation is that someone oversee the work of the subs, as at least in our case, some of the work needed to be redone and we, the homeowners, had to be the ones to point this out to the installers. The work took place while Dennis was on vacation and this could well be the exception. However, everything was eventually done well and we are pleased with the outcome. Every time we contacted the owner, Dennis, about our concerns via text, email, or phone, he responded in a very timely fashion. And, most importantly, the work is done, done in a timely fashion as Dennis predicted, and bar a few redos, the work was done well.
Description of Work: Remove old kitchen countertop, sink, and faucet; install granite; undermount sink and faucet (same in powder room). New laminate tops in two upstairs baths. Door/drawer knobs on all kitchen cabs. Other cabinet trim as needed. New kitchen ceramic tile floor and marble backsplash.

We have lived in our home for 30 years. The bath had been done in the 70's so it was past time for a redo. We had the walls redone and ceiling. Took out the old light blue bath tub and shower and stool, and sink (all light blue) yes, you read right. That was one of the reasons that we chose them. They could do everything. We didn't have to have several different contractors in.It went very well. I would have them come back. The employee that they sent to work on our job was Steve. He did a great job.I was amazed at how fast he took the old bathroom apart. Bye blue. It was to take about two weeks did take a bit longer. The first tub, Steve found a crack in it. So they found another one that was nicer and a bit bigger. But it worked out with the surround Steve got some tile to go around it. It looks great and didn't cost us any more. So the bathroom got gutted. So it ended up taking about three weeks which I didn't think was bad. We have an upstairs bathroom that needs to be redone as well. I will have them come back. I liked the fact of not having to deal with several different people and having dozens of different people in and out of our home. Steve was good about clean up. As with any project that you have done you always learn things. I think there is a saying that says that if you build a house it would take about the third one before you get it right and done the way you would want it really done. With that said, I would have KD Kitchen, Baths, and More come back.|Sincerely, Lisa Carley
Description of Work: They redid our very old bathroom. We had them put in new tub with shower surround, new stool and sink and new counter tops. We also had them reface our cabinets. They also did all the plumbing and electric. They hauled all the stuff away. They also put down a new floor for us.

Overall, it went fabulously. This is a company that works mostly in Illinois. They send whoever they need to the job, and they stay until it's done -- no days being pulled to another job. They kept to their timeline, and had the work completed within 4 weeks -- it would have been 3 weeks, except there was a supplier mistake that had to be corrected. We had never done a kitchen remodel before, so in hindsight there would have been some things that I would have done differently to make things easier for them and us. I want to start out with saying that they bent over backwards to get us what we wanted, and delivered on it. Since this is a company that comes to your house with books and samples of whatever you are wanting, it can be overwhelming to be faced with so many choices at once, although it does help to be right in your kitchen with the information at hand. I wish I had done more homework before they arrived, visiting home improvement stores to actually look at kitchen models, etc. There are a lot of convenient internal features in cabinets that I didn't know about, and it would have saved us all time if I had looked at some of these features ahead of time. I visited the home improvement stores after their initial visit, and wasted KD's time by adding them later and forcing them to rework plans (which they happily did). It would have been prudent of us to look at cabinet styles and hardware, just to get an idea of what style we liked and save time. The same goes for flooring, backsplash, and lighting. Go to actual flooring and lighting stores to see what's available. That being said, we changed our design idea completely from what we thought we wanted at the beginning. I have more than the usual amount of kitchen equipment, and although our former kitchen had average storage, I needed more. The kitchen designer, Mike, actually asked to see my overflow storage area in the basement to get an idea of how much stuff I have. He then came up with a lot of creative ideas for extra storage in the kitchen. My favorite is a large shallow drawer in the kickplate of the cabinet next to the stove, where I can put large pans. He also was very thoughtful to ergonomics. He and Dennis (the owner) listened very well to what we wanted, and offered very helpful insights all through the process. Before the cabinets were ordered (beautiful! Made by the Amish in Arthur), every detail about them was attended to, including what side the door hinges should be on. Part of the process was going to different suppliers in the Chicago suburbs to pick out the marble countertop with Mike. It enabled us to do a lot of comparing and make the perfect choice -- we would really recommend this step. Although Dennis has contractors for lighting, vents, and gas lines in the area, we weren't satisfied with the one we spoke with - he didn't listen that well - we had our own electrician and ventilation people install the undercounter lighting and hood venting. For lighting we went to Northern Lights in Belvidere,IL (lots of helpful information there). We would recommend the dimmable LED "ribbon" undercounter lighting -- we very rarely have the overhead lights on in the kitchen anymore. The tear out of the kitchen went very smoothly and quickly. The cabinets and appliances were recycled by friends, and everything else was disposed of by KD. We ended up buying the flooring from a local company, but I think we actually could have gotten what we needed from KD. There ended up being way too much tile, and there was some difficulty returning the unused portion, but it was resolved. It would have definitely been easier if we had gotten it from KD's sources. The floor is beautiful and well-laid. Steve, who did the majority of the labor in the project, paid thoughtful attention to detail. He and Mike worked well together, and between the two of them came up with creative solutions to problems. It was the first time they had dealt with this cabinet maker, and a few things went wrong. But Steve made them even better than if they had gotten it right, creating storage for the brooms that naturally held them upright, and putting in absolutely perfect vertical storage dividers in a cabinet. The supplier also put in the wrong kind of drawer hardware, which required them (the supplier) to remake the drawer boxes, which resulted in the delay I mentioned earlier. Mike works countertop magic, taking photos of the selected marble slabs, and showing them with the kitchen layout, allows you to choose where the pieces should go. We have one seam in the whole kitchen (and there are a lot of counters), and it is barely noticeable. Dennis installed a reverse osmosis water filter under the sink, which works beautifully. They supplied a very stylish and extremely functional range hood, as well. The rest of the appliances we got at a local store, although Dennis offered to supply them at his cost. We thought it would be better to keep it local if we needed service. We now have a functional kitchen that allows us to store items where they make sense, instead of just where they will fit. It is a whole new world.
Description of Work: They gutted the kitchen, including removal of the floor tile into the hallway and laundry room. Tiled the kitchen, hallway, and laundry room floors. In the kitchen, replaced with new cabinets to optimize storage, installed granite countertops, tiled the backsplash, installed new appliances, and a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink. Also replaced an upper cabinet in the laundry room with a tall cabinet to accommodate brooms, etc., on one side and clothes hanging on the other. Replaced the doors and drawer fronts on the remaining laundry room cabinets.

It went great. After we agreed to a style (had I bet 70 - 100 to choose from) their measurement man arrived as scheduled. He was fantastic (his name is Brian). When he found that the old counter had spacing between it and the wall, he realized that the outside wall was not perfect. So he went to his truck and returned with material to create a model for the new counter. He did not hurry and in fact was meticulous with sizing and calculations. He was also cordial and professional thoughout. He suggested the single piece again (the salesperson, Dennis, was the first to suggest this technique). The counter and the setup people arrived on time on the date selected. Steve was the central setup person and was excellent. He took everything out with the salesperson - Dennis - as his assistant. The single unit fit perfectly! There was no need for any trim as the old counter had (that trim had covered the spacing between the wall and the old counter). Steve was also an excellent plumber as he insisted that the plumbing to the new sink be perfect. My wife and I are very pleased with the new counter and the professional job done putting it in! We will call Dennis immediately if we ever need to do more.
Description of Work: Removed the old kitchen countertop and cast iron sink/faucet. Then they put in a large one piece "U" shaped replacement counter (the 3 individual parts were put together at the plant and shipped as a single unit).Next, they put in our selected new sink/faucet. They connected all the plumbing and removed everything as well as cleaned the kitchen prior to leaving.
