These guys were the only hot tub repair folks in the area that actually returned my call. All the highest rated companies on Angies list never called back. After giving up on those guys I called spa doctors and was able to get an appointment within two days. I had a leaky hot tub. The water drained down a few inches then stopped. I wasn't sure where it was or how to go about finding the leak. Tony came out and wasn't especially familiar with my model of hot tub. Neither of us were sure how to remove the side panels (the hot tub was here when I bought the house). After calling his office to see if he could contact the manufacturer he was able to find the hidden screws to remove the panels. He got one of them off for us to discover that there was a solid foam block of insulation surrounding the tub. He poked around for a few minutes before declaring that it would take a "long time" (read expensive) to find the leak. I told him that I would attempt to find it myself (at least now I knew how to remove the side panels). The next day I go out and start searching for the leak... I found it in about fifteen minutes (plus another fifteen minutes to remove the other side panel). So I found the leaky pipe, took a picture and emailed it to the Spa Doctors. Tony was on vacation the next week, so I had to wait a few extra days. They came by and replaced the pipe, but were unable to replace the insulation that needed to removed to fix the pipe because the sealant needed to set... so another job for me. In all I paid $125 for each of the two visits plus $10 for the replacement pipe.
Description of Work: Fix a leaky pipe on an above ground hot tub.

I phoned Spa Doctors hoping to get quick service on my leaking indoor hot tub. I was told there would be a $105 service call charge for them to come out. I took an afternoon off to accommodate the visit. They sent a gentleman to diagnose the problem, and he did seem to find the leak. He felt there was a hairline crack in a PVC nut connecting to one of the pumps. He took pictures with his cell phone and e-mailed them to someone at the company. He said this was so they could get the parts needed for the repair. He said I would have to drain the tub so the repair could be done. I drained the tub down to below all of the jets. This man had no parts on his truck or access to the company's parts. I was told I would get a call back that night. I received no call. I waited two days then called them and asked when they would return to fix the leak. I was told they would return on Saturday. The same gentleman returned and attempted to fix the leak by tightening the PVC nut. Whether the nut was cracked to begin with I'll never know, but I did watch him tighten and tighten the nut until it cracked and the water started to pour out. We spent the next hour and a half vacuuming and mopping up water. I received no call to make a date for the next service visit. After a few days I again called Spa Doctors and was told they were coming out that night. The original tech along with a second tech arrived. They looked at the problem and determined that they did not have the correct parts. They asked if they could return the next day, which was a Saturday. I agreed. Roughly an hour and a half after they service time, I received a call from the second technician apologizing that he could not do the work that day because he could not find the special tool he needed. He agreed to come out on Sunday morning. The two arrived on time on Sunday and did finally complete the job. They apologized and said they would not charge me for parts. While everyone I spoke with from Spa Doctors was polite enough, I think this was a very bad experience with people who did not know what they were doing. To send technicians to a job with no parts - or access to parts and collect $105 to take pictures with a cell phone seems ridiculous to me. When I hire a service company, I expect them to send trained, capable people to perform the service. To fix a leak which was easily accessible took four service visits.
Description of Work: Replacement of PVC piping and nut on one of the pumps.

When we receive a call for service from a person who doesn't know what brand of hot tub they have makes it difficult to be prepared. We want to use the exact parts needed for a proper repair and that could mean waiting some time for an special order. As this customer stated we came out over the weekend which was to accommodate her schedule and we did not charge additional as most companies would. As I agree that this particular job could have been better it was not due to our fault. The report writing by the customer is filled with contradictions and lies if you read it from top to bottom! We had to identify the parts needed(service call) which at the time was an o-ring and possibly a hairline crack at a pump union. Then come back a second time and repair the damaged area then fill the tub and pressure test for additional leaks. Because the customer was constantly complaining during repair I offered to not charge for the parts. This customer attempted to accuse us for rusting out an old hot water heater that she had leaking into the carpeting. I was very concerned that it was someone looking to blame all her home improvement needs and problems on the spa repairman.

Never a problem.
Description of Work: We have used Spa Doctors for our hot tub maintenance for several years now. Our tub is about 8 years old, so we are in parts replacement mode. Tony has been very professional and knows what he is doing with our Catalina Hot Tub. The only delays are in ordering parts. Not his fault - just takes awhile to get them in. He has worked on the internal parts as will as replaced jets.

We had no pump or heat in our hottub. They examined and found that the circuit board had been fried. They removed the board and attempted to replace some components, but this was unsuccessful. Through-out the process they were helpful and explained each step. Not cheap, but super professional

He was able to give me advice that will hopefully resolve the problem. He didn't come out to just bill me, like Leisure World and Swanson's Spa Service did.

Anthony has serviced our hot tub for about 2 years now. He has always been courteous and professional. Prices are fair and he does a good job with repairs. It takes awhile to get parts, but that is because he orders them as he needs them.
Description of Work: We have had our main control panel replaced and a couple of leaks repaired in addition to replacing head rests and knobs.

We received in the mail a flyer from Spa Doctors so my wife called and made an appointment to have it inspected. There was no mention of a fee to walk in the door and do the estimate. She told the person on the phone exactly what she was wanting and they agreed to do the estimate. Once again no discussion of a fee. Anthony showed up at the door looked at the motor for about 15 minutes and then said the entire hot tub should be replaced because it would not be cost efficient to fix with the age of the tub. I thanked him for the information and he informed me that the call would cost $105.00. I was surprised as I thought it would be like the a/c guys that came out to give me a estimate for a new system or the car shop which tells you what is wrong with your car and if you choose not to fix it there is no charge. Anthony made no attempt at customer service, he just wanted his money. He told me that every other spa company would charge twice what he does at half the quality.
Description of Work: We had a hot tub which had quit working and we just wanted an estimate of what it would cost to fix it.

Response from SPA DOCTORS INC.
This report is a complete lie!! Our flyer specifically reads $10 off a service call or parts. When a person calls and asks what the cost is for a service call they are told $105.00. This person should not be allowed to misuse Angie's list because they didn't like what my reports said! This hot tub had cracks in the shell and melted electronics and was beyond repair! The owner then became hostel and verbally abusive. We maintained as much of a professional stance as one could possibly do when faced with that situation.
