Repairman was very polite and professional. He looked at what he could but said he couldn’t really give a complete inspection because it was dry out and sump pump wasn’t running. Probably true but didn’t really feel like a complete inspection.

First off, I'll say that I had no issues with the work performed other than a bit of poor planning. The estimator reported that plumber would need to bring gas pipe fittings with him, however he did not which resulted in scheduling a second visit to complete the install. My issue is that I found a senior discount coupon on their website for 20% off up to $500. When I first spoke to Excel, I inquired about the discount and was told it was a max of $100. She quoted me a price of $1200 for the water heater installation and said that with the discount it would be $1100 which was a good price. She mentioned that could be additional cost for installation once they looked at the old one. The estimator arrived and reported that I needed an additional $100 in gas pipe work. We discussed the discount and he made of note of it on the quote where he entered the estimated price of $1300. There was no breakdown of labor, parts, tax, or discount. I'm going by what I was originally told ($1200 plus $100 is indeed $1300) but there was no mention of the discount already being applied. I ended up paying the $1300 although on the last service visit I asked if the discount had been applied and was told that it was. I called Excel to ask them to refund me the discount. I was told the estimate was really $1400 and that the discount was applied bringing it down to $1300. They refuse to make this right by refunding me $100. If you choose to do business with Excel, be sure every charge is clearly explained before you sign anything or make any payments to them. I personally will not do business with them again.

Unfriendly plumber. Smelled like smoke. He seemed surprised that my old house had old pipes. He was grumpy and said he couldn t guarantee the work because the pipes were old. Would not use again. Bad attitude. The employee that I spoke to on the phone, however, was very nice and did a good job.

They were efficient and well worth their fee

We have seen many companies handle this major sewer repair and installation of a clean out station in our neighborhood. We've heard how much our neighbors have spent on the project. Before getting the estimate and having the work done, we were expecting a nightmare. Excel Plumbing was amazing from start to finish. Many of our neighbors have commented how excellent the process seemed to go. Customer service from the very beginning was always on top of everything. They took care of all the paperwork and permitting requests so quickly that the work was started the very next day after contacting them at 5pm the night before! Excellent efficiency. Our yard is beautifully landscaped and the care the workers exercised in doing the excavating was beyond meticulous. They prepared the area with plywood and dug out a perfect ditch. Put in the proper pipes and power cleaned all the lines. They fenced off the work while we had to wait for the village to approve the work. All the neighbors were very impressed by this safety measure and so were we. The work was approved and they replaced all the clay and the preserved top soil just so. Lastly, the put the sod back on that they had removed perfectly to reuse when they were done. Incredible job and incredible price. When they left, it was as if no work had been done out there. We have had neighbors who have had a mess for months after the work was done. We have told all our neighbors who we used and would recommend Excel to everybody.

Communication between office and workers was poor. They didn't finish the job in time promised.

I had Excel Plumbing come out and inspect an issue with my kitchen line in September 2016 wherein they explained that I had a broken pipe and should have an outside access placed. I agreed to the work and then once it began, and they realized how much the outside access was going to cost them for the digging portion they then stated that the line was not broken and stated that I should have them do a hydro jetting. I asked how they confirmed that it was not broken, and they claimed a camera inspection; however, did not have anything to substantiate that at my request. They did some work on the line that was later found to be against code (they claim the village inspected it but I FOIAd the village, and they did not) They were back out slightly over a year later for the same issue. They only completed a quick rodding of the line and said it was fine. I requested them to look further into the issue because clearly it was not resolved or fixed and the licensed plumber just put silicone caulk on the floor. I had another plumbing company out since the issue remained in early June, and they told me that the line WAS in fact broken and that the access they placed in the front did not have the backflow prevention I was told it would and that kitchen line would have to be replaced and the work outside of code repaired properly and that based on the condition of the pipes and the continued issues even just a year later there is no sufficient evidence that the hydro jetting was completed (that I paid $823.14 for in 2016). I have reached out and received a letter from their attorney basically confirming all the work I said they completed and talked around the actual issue of the kitchen line and sent a response including the inspection report from the village and have not received a response. When I inquired about the back flow prevention in April 2017 I never received a response from the service manager in regard to it and I would assume his failure to respond is because it was not done.

My water heater pressure relief valve was leaking and was looking to replace. Charged exorbitant had to negotiate. Guess they just take advantage of the situation and make money out of it. There was more work I wanted to talk about in the house, but did not even feel the need.

They charged the quoted rate, did the job, and cleaned up afterward.

They had to come out twice as the first plumber they sent did not know what the problem was. They broke the concrete top covering the access hole and did not even mention it. Other than that, the work was done and we have not had any other problems

Didn t need to perform any work at this time. Service call went very well, would hire if I need a plumber.
