Very well, especially trying to please 62 different owners!

We have used Bertog Landscaping for all of our landscaping over the years, and we also used them to install 2 paver patios and a seat wall. The design team is very good, and were also receptive to suggestions we made on a few items to change. They do an excellent job- they are very professional, very responsive and they do a great job at cleaning up. Tracy Bertog is the main point person we work with, and he is outstanding. I highly recommend Bertog Landscaping.

They are expensive! It would be worth it if the yard looked spectacular, but it doesn't. It looks okay but for what they charge it ought to be spectacular. The weekly grass service is prompt and well done; good edging, good cutting. My big issue is with the landscape design and the communication with them. You tell your project manager something and maybe it gets to the crew or not. For instance, they put in a hedge and spaced the bushes very wide so they have to grow into each other to close the gaps. Bertog knows this, they designed and installed it, but the crew keeps trimming each bush into a separate ball so they will never form a hedge. I have called and told them countless times but am not getting what I want. We would have paid for an extra bush or two! Also, they were told not to suggest anything they wouldn't maintain regularly, but that is not what happened. The designer suggested to put rose bushes in one area and Roses got put in and assured us they were "self-maintaining." Nope -- they need to be trimmed and deadheaded every week or so, sprayed for beetles, which is not done without me having to make several phone calls to them. They told me "we only do roses twice a season." Argh! Then why put them in? It looks unkempt and is annoying. We have a small dirt patch in the front, and I asked them to put in some annuals. It usually takes 6-8 flats when I do it but they put in 16 and charged $800!! They left two bare spots also. Very annoying! But the flowers that they put in are healthy and thriving and look great. I just can't get them to do things regularly and sensibly. What they do is good but is not a good value for the money and comes with too much aggravation.

Bertog responded to an inquiry request and instead of trying to sell me on new sod for our lawn, gave me suggestions on how to restore the lawn. Unbelievably professional. I would use these guys in the future if the opportunity arose.

We worked with Howard, and he is awesome. I love his design for our garden beds, and he chose great bushes and trees for us. He was very attentive to every detail during the work and gave us lots of advice along the way for maintenance of the garden, etc. I love spending time in the back yard now! Bertog is good to work with. They are neither the most expensive high-end landscape design company, nor the bargain-basement variety. They worked well within our budget and did high-quality work.

They are prompt and professional and the sprinkler system works well.

Use Bertog for ongoing comprehensive landscape and grounds maintenance services. Tree disease protection is emphasized. Highly professional. Crews arrive in clean trucks and uniforms. Most importantly, Bertog provides us with a landscaping professional as our go-to contact for all issues and projects. This contact is generally reachable and responsive. This ususally translates into service improvements as warranted. We have used many landscape services through the years. Bertog, while being premium-priced, also provides premium service and a high degree of sensitivity to our concerns.

They did quite a bit of landscaping such as grassing, plantings, and put in a brick patio. We had an addition to our house, so they did the landscaping for around the addition.

Design process went well. Our designer did a wonderful job and was the main reason we went with Bertog. We had issues with drainage on our lot and we were assured that everything would be taken care of and that the job supervisor, Greg, would grade everything appropriately to insure that any water would not come toward our home. After a couple of days, we expressed concern about the way that the grading was being completed, as we knew that water would come back toward the house and cause flooding in a small, ground-level addition on our home. After numerous e-mails and phone calls with Greg and our designer, Greg had it out with us on the phone and said that we had no idea what we were doing, we had never laid pavers before or landscaped a yard. He threatened to pull his crew off the job if we continued to question his work. Sure enough, a month after project completion, we had a torrential rainstorm and the addition took on water in an area where we had never had water issues in the past in similar storms. We called Bertog and complained about the entire process with Greg, as well as the damage to our home. They returned, this time with one of the owners, to re-evaluate the situation and then came back with a full crew to completely redo the backyard portion of the project. We had a different project supervisor and had no problems. The actual work performed is quality work and I have no problem recommending them -- minus Greg.

It went very well. The best thing about Bertog's, even though they're more expensive, they will always do followup which is a reason we like to use them for important projects.

I felt very good about him. It was hard to choose which company to go with and I?m sure it would have gone just as well if I had used Bertog. He was very professional and competent, and he had a lot of good ideas. He has a good reputation and he lives up to it. The price that he quoted was higher than the price quoted by another company. In the end, I ended up paying the company I used more because we added some things on.

Great job. Timely. Installed borders first to hold pea gravel in place. Held up over the winter and spring.

We hired them for landscape design. We gave them color pictures of what we wanted, looked through books together and discussed what we did and did not want. The "designer" said she understood perfectly and took the color pictures we gave her. They presented a design that was the complete opposite of what we wanted and refused to refund our money or to redo it based on the agreed specifications.

The rep who worked with us was very thorough. The work was done very well. They were punctual and cleaned up well after themselves. Only criticisms are minor: there was sometimes nobody who could speak English available on site and they were more expensive than other quotes we received. But we would hire them again, if we ever need to do more landscaping work.

They stopped caring about our property. They didn't replace the plants that weren't doing well. We did the regular maintenance. We were with them for three years and the service went downhill from there. The workers were very polite.

The overall experience was excellent. We hadn't done extensive landscaping previously, so let Bertog guide us through the process. We had some design changes midstream, and requested different materials and plants, and they were able to identify and adapt to these requests easily. We appreciated the collaboration and attentiveness. Their crew was on time, cleaned up after themselves, and very professional throughout the different phases of work.

Casey came out to look at the area and propose a design. Due to a small misunderstanding (which was my fault) I was not happy with the initial design. Casey was absolutely gracious and redesigned it exactly to my liking. There was a lot of work involved, including some unforeseen work (there was more concrete to be torn up under the existing walkway than one would have thought) but Bertog did not charge me extra for it. After the areas were installed, there was one small problem and one larger problem. I knew Bertog would take care of the smaller problem without charge, since it had to do with making the actual work look like the design. However, I thought for sure I would have to pay to fix the larger problem (I did not like the steps; they looked too modern for the rest of the design) since I now wanted something done with the steps that had not been previously discussed and that would require actually tearing out some stuff they had just done and doing additional work that, again, was not part of the initial plan. I didn't know how much the additional work would cost, or how long it would take to get done. You can imagine how shocked I was when I came home one night (only 2 days after the initial job was finished) and found not an estimate for the additional work in my mailbox (which is what I was expecting) but instead, the work completed, beautifully, and at no additional charge! Really, this was beyond all my expectations.

The overall experience was spectacular. I met with a very knowledgeable woman to chat about my requirements. She promptly put together a plan. We again met to review the plan, and I didn't change a thing. She gave me an estimate when the work would be completed, and that is when it happened. The job was well supervised and the workers were very professional. They cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. I am so pleased. The landscaping is gorgeous.

A disaster! They had agreed to start the lawn-care program in midsummer, but didn't show up until late August, after I called and asked them where they'd been. They had already missed one of the treatments they had promised to perform. Then, they put down fertilizer, which was fine. But then they came back a week later and put down broad-leaf herbicide. Well, our yard is now entirely yellow. Not the result you expect when you hire a lawn-care service! They didn't seem to be entirely sure why it had happened. They said we had a lot of grubs, which had weakened the lawn, but we believe they should have alerted us to the chance everything would die and given us the option to not do the work. After all, they are the experts. Instead we are stuck with a dead lawn. To their credit, they are re-seeding the parkway at their expense, but the rest of the yard is our problem. Of course they offered to re-seed for about $650! Depressing.

We couldn't be happier. We've received many compliments on the brickwork and landscaping. The design was well-suited to our site and our tastes. A few modifications were made along the way, and the Bertog crew was very welcoming of the changes.

Our contact, Shannon McGrath, did an outstanding job for us. Bertog installed a 200 s.f. Brussels block patio in our back yard. It looks fantastic! They were very professional from start to finish from initial call back to job completion. Everything was done when they said it would be done and we couldn't be happier! You won't be disappointed if you use Bertog!

I spoke with someone on the phone, explained the work I wanted done, and was told that someone would look at our yard and provide a quote. I never received a call back or a quote.
