I showed her a picture of my table in Oct 2015 and asked if she was interested. She said yes, that pedestal tables were in high demand especially if it had a leaf which mine did. She said she would start the price at $1200 but might lower it after a few weeks if it wasn't moving. We would split the sale proceeds 50/50 and I also paid her movers $100 to pick it up and deliver to the store on 10/31/15. It sold ion 11/9/15, but she had quickly dropped the price by 10% which I felt was unnecessary. My biggest issue with her is her lack of communication and professionalism. No one ever informed me the table had been sold. I checked back numerous times to see when I would receive my payment and got fuzzy answers. The contract stated that I would receive payment within 60 days of the end of the month in which the item is sold. I felt that was way too long, but it was in the contract and she took the position that she didn't have to bother trying to get it out any sooner. In any event she didn't even meet her own deadline. Sixty days would have been January 29, 2016. Np check arrived in the mail nor did anyone call me to tell me it was available. On 2/8/16 I went in with my husband and asked for it. There was a large box of envelopes sitting on a back corner of the desk. She pulled mine out and gave it to me. I told her I was not happy with how things had been handled and she quickly cut me off and told me I was wrong. My husband suggested to her that she might want to listen to her customer's feedback and issues and she became rude. We left with our check and I will not use her services again.

They conducted all aspects of the estate sale, from appraising and marking all items to transporting some of the unsold furniture to their shop for consignment. They arranged for expert appraisers to come in for some of the items, such as a coin collection, fine jewelry, some sterling silver and artwork. They advised us to leave the house while they were marking items and insisted we be away during the sale, which was good advice. Although I was surprised by some of the prices (some of which I thought wer e quite low and a few higher than I expected), it is her business and she is experienced in pricing items, so I trusted her and left it up to her. She transported some of the unsold furniture to her consignment shop and said it would be kept for 90 days, dropping the price every 30 days if it did not sell. I still think she would have sold more items had the prices not been so high, but she is the expert and I'm not,
Description of Work: Judy Martin and her daughter, Katie, conducted a two-day estate sale for us just before we moved out of state. Following the estate sale, they arranged for some of the remaining furniture and items to be transported to their shop to be sold on consignment.

When I spoke to her on the phone, she stated that I wasn't listening to her. She didn't believe me when I told her about my insurance and what they wanted. The conversation became more and more escalated. I would not recommend her to anyone and have chosen not to use her services based on her behavior and high prices. We had received several estimates already and she was by far the highest.
Description of Work: I called her about getting an estimate on items in my home that were damaged in a fire.

I sent several items to The Perfect Thing on consignment in January 2010. They were very slow to pay when the items were sold, they sold them for considerably less than their original price, and they lost a Limoges covered jar. I moved from Illinois to Florida. The items I sent to The Perfect Thing included 2 Ethan Allen loveseats, 6 Ethan Allen tables and cabinets, 2 velvet chairs, 5 Harold Altman lithographs, 6 Hull pottery vases, 1 McCoy vase and a Limoges pitcher and covered jar set. They priced the items at $6590. I thought this was low for some of the items, especially the lithographs. They then reduced the prices by 30-60%. The total amount I received was $1486.40, 22% of the original estimate. They were very slow to pay. They claimed they didn?t have my Florida address. The Illinois post office forwarded all my mail, so they could have sent the check to the IL address. I emailed them several times and called several times. They then sent the check to 2235 and used the wrong ZIP code. My house number is 1135. Then they sent the check to 135, but since it had the correct ZIP code, it was delivered. Everything sold but 4 vases and the Limoges set. When I came in to pick up the items that hadn?t sold, Kate gave me the vases and the Limoges pitcher. I asked where the covered jar was. The original inventory clearly stated Limoges set. She couldn?t find the jar. They priced the pitcher alone at $125, but she gave me 25% of that price for the missing piece. I emailed a picture of the missing Limoges jar and said I want it back when they find it, but they never responded. I asked for an accounting of the last check, but never received it. I received my last check in September. I have kept copies of all my emails, the misaddressed envelopes and the inventories in case they disagree with what I have written.
Description of Work: They sold my furniture, artwork and pottery on consignment.

I took my chandelier to The Perfect Thing to have them sell it for me. They said they would list it for $1600.00. I thought it was kind of low, but they said there is not a large market for an expensive brass chandelier. I said okay. They were not able to sell the chandelier. They called me and said they were moving to a new location. They did not want to take the chandelier with them. I went to get the chandelier and they didn't have all the parts. They told me that they knew where all the parts were, but they were in the middle of moving. After the move they promised they would get the rest of the parts to me. After they moved I called and went to see them on six different occasions. Every time they would be pleasant, but they couldn't find the parts. Finally I insisted that the owner call me and if she didn't I was going to call the BBB. I called the BBB and she told them in her reply that she didn't have to get me the missing parts, that it wasn't in her contract. It was a change in their policy that was wrong. At one point they said that if they couldn't find them they would replace the missing parts. Then at the end of it all they said that they don't owe me anything.
Description of Work: I hired The Perfect Thing to sell a $4,350.00 chandelier.

Response from The Perfect Thing
This chandelier that this gentleman is writing about was in our store for 2 years and did not sell. Our contract states that we keep the items for 90 days and a professional courtesy, we kept the chandelier until we moved our store. This chandelier was not worth the amount he stated, that was the new retail price and as a consignment shop we do not sell at new retail. He was not happy. He also wanted a job with us and we did not hire him, therefore he was a little put out. He has his chandelier and hopefully has been able to sell a brass chandelier in a very tough market.
