Dan Foss and DFC Mechanical were outstanding! We originally attempted to have our AC repaired by a big HVAC company, which failed big time when the HVAC company couldn't figure out electrical issues. But Dan and DFC fixed all problems easily and with no excuses like the big company. Dan and DFC are qualified for HVAC and electrical and that makes them great in my book. They took the time to do everything right and were open and honest about the work that needed to be done. The big HVAC company said to call them back after the electrician came out, but because Dan and DFC could take care of the AC work as well as the electrical work, so long big HVAC company! Dan and DFC did it all, so need to to go back to the HVAC company that one would have thought should have been able to fix an HVAC system. Anytime in the future where I need either electrical work or HVAC work I am calling Dan and having DFC do the work. The system worked great in the recent mini-heat wave and I have great confidence in Dan to get the job done with confidence, at a reasonable price and in a professional manner. A very refreshing experience!

Dan and John arrived on time with their truck full of tools and supplies. They assessed what it would take to properly reattach the meter box, made up some clamps to pull the service riser back to plumb, and then proceeded to make the needed repairs. The work turned out very well and was completed in quick fashion. Dan is a knowledgeable electrician that knows his craft very well, and I would feel very comfortable calling on Dan again should a need arise for further electrical work.

First, let me state that I worked in project management for many years. I submitted a request for proposal to four generator suppliers. My requirements were comprehensive. Dan's response to my proposal was prompt and complete. He addressed my requirements in full detail. His price was the same as one other bid, with two other bids being somewhat more costly. Installation of the generator, cut-over switch, and surge protector were done on my time schedule. He was always accommodating with every aspect of the install. He kept me informed of the schedule every step of the way. The one day installation was accomplished in a completely professional manner, and the job site was cleaned up completely. Absolutely no waste debris was left on site. The city inspector provided a quick sign off for the installation. Contacting Nicor to request a gas meter upgrade evaluation was handled by Dan. Not only was I given the owner's manual for the generator, but Dan walked me through the entire installation and he completely answered all my questions. Besides being an extremely competent installer, I found that Dan and his installation team are all men of high integrity. This gave me an extra feeling of comfort with the installation. Dan and his team are friendly and pleasant. It is without reservation that I give Dan the highest possible ratings for all aspects of this transaction.

I spoke with various contractors to install the outside generator. This company had the best references, and, as noted above, for good reason.

It is difficult due to overwhelming volume from big deals to get appointment in timely manner. For this small project some companies were booked 3 weeks out but I was able to set same week with DFC. They were professional & knowledgable for my small electrical projects and the price was good.

We were impacted by the flooding on 4/18 and were in desperate need of some electrical and plumbing work. Dan responded very promptly considering every contractor in the area was in crisis mode due to the overwhelming need for services in Northern Illinois. He was able to make it to my home for an inspection and quick assessment and then come back the next day to perform the necessary emergency repairs. I was impressed as he had to search out (at multiple locations) two high quality zoeller sump pumps as he was not happy with the quality of pumps available from the local big hardware stores. Considering the scarcity of pumps at the time it was no small feat. He and his people made it to my home late at night and worked through the early morning to get the all work completed. He installed two new pumps, A battery backup system and monitoring equipment and refurbished the main breaker panel which was half-submerged in the flood. All this while the ground water was still filling the sump pump well every 60-90 seconds. The new connections and Battery system were then mounted above the flood level providing a more resilient solution. Because of his fast service I was able to complete the remaining work to get my basement cleaned out and the house restored the next day.

This review is long overdue. I recently purchased a condo in need of some serious electrical work ?what began as a project to add a few outlets quickly became a full-fledged rewire. The building is over 100 years old and the previous owners had left a hodgepodge of inadequate wiring. Almost nothing was grounded, some rooms had only one (or zero!) outlets, the lights dimmed when the refrigerator clicked on, and the kitchen and bedrooms were as dark as caves. I contacted about five different electricians before ending up with Dan Foss at DFC. He was not the least expensive but he seemed the most interested in getting the job done. He was always professional, always polite, respectful, and willing to offer suggestions on how to improve the project. That said, there were a few issues along the way (a broken internet router, oddly replaced mantle that had to be redone, dust everywhere). It was not a small job but, before Dan, I had just about given up finding an electrician who was willing to take on the job. There were some delays, but those were largely out of his control. I would strongly recommend DFC based on Dan?s professional behavior and willingness to accept responsibility and correct any issues. Despite the setbacks, I never felt like he was uninterested or that this job was unimportant. The cost came in well above my original budget, but the lower offers from other vendors magically disappeared once I tried to accept, and the one competent alternative was 75% more expensive. Dan was interested and engaged in his work and this project, and he completed every aspect of the agreement in a professional manner.

My husband and I were referred to DFC Mechanical & Remodeling by our neighbors. We needed to replace our furnaces and also get information on installing a generator. Dan from the company came out to educate us on options and pricing. He was very informative and most importantly knowledgeable. After we received the bid, we decided to proceed with DFC Mechanical & Remodeling. The day came for installation. Dan and his crew were on time and professional. He explained in great detail how to maintain and use our furnaces and generator. They went above and beyond service. I highly recommend DFC! They also left our home clean after all repairs and installation were done.

Performed the work I asked and were very professional.

We made inquiries on a few different things on our to-do list. 1) Install ceiling fan in office, 2) provide estimate for under mount lighting and can lights in kitchen, 3) provide estimate for water damaged kitchen ceiling (from upstairs bathroom leak), 4) take a look at semi-recently replaced garage door with some kind of intermittent issues opening/closing. Performed several things running from complicated electrical tasks to drywall repair. Dan came out and promptly provided estimate for first two items only (our request). We signed contract for both. Total cost was very reasonable for all of the work performed. Within week of estimate we had a ceiling fan and new dimmer switch installed where there was previously no fan, bracing, or lighting. Protective covering was laid over items in room and everything was cleaned and vacuumed upon completion. Dan and Team also came out and installed can lights and under mount lighting in the kitchen (under cabinets, in glass front cabinets, and in same places in butler's pantry). Dan even fixed reversed wiring and re-routed to produce a more efficient outlet assignment for the various entry points and lighted areas! Everybody was extremely friendly and professional and did not hesitate to make recommendations when original request would have produced something other than the desired result. All work was complete in a timely fashion and right on time. Work areas were washed and vacuumed upon completion. The group went above and beyond! They even took a look at the ceiling and garage door, and gave us some extremely helpful tips for tiling the kitchen back splash after learning of the remainder of our plan for the kitchen. They weren't even contracted for those items!!! Honest, reliable, very helpful, extremely professional, timely, efficient, very knowledgeable in a multitude of areas, excellent craftsmanship, clearly dedicated, amazing service!!!! The whole team was comfortable around every member of the house (including toddlers and dogs). Would not hesitate to recommend or contract again!!!! Will be calling Dan first when ready to remodel basement!!!! Thanks so much, Dan!!!!

Dan responded quickly to my phone message. He ended up performing the work above and did it VERY good and neat. I am very happy with the work that they performed. My only "complaint"...and it's not even a complaint, is that he was a little bit late on two occasion. I only mention this because I am a VERY punctual person and even slightly late sometimes bothers me (I need to get over it...LOL) I would use Dan's services again without question!

Great experience from start to finish. They were prompt on estimates, follow up, ordered parts status, install appointment, and even followed up after completion to make sure everything was satisfactory. Very knowledgeable and great customer service. In fact, just a couple of days after the install was completed, I had a lot of family over and sure enough a storm knocked out power. Had the whole house plugged in and back up in less than 5 minutes and the party continued. Talk about great timing!

DFC Mechanical have always done a great job. I believe it is about 5 years now that I have used their services and am completely satisfied. They may be a little slow in responding to a call, but even that has been improving. I can only recommend them with highest honors.

These guys worked hard. They were done before the estimated time frame and didn't leave a speck of anything anywhere. On top of it Dan was one of the nicest guys! My husband, father in law and I were totally impressed!
