We are very pleased with the finish on the cabinets. The job was done in the time promised with minimal mess. Even though Dennis will work without a contract, the only way to know for sure what is covered and not covered is to list things out. We were told he would cut down the microwave shelf at "no charge" but he ran into unexpected issues and additional charges were assessed Also, we believed the installation of new handles and knobs was included in the cost but it was not. That is our fault for not being specific about that part of the job which is why a contract for specific work is necessary.
Description of Work: Strip and stain oak kitchen cabinets. Cut down microwave shelf. Install new hinges and cabinet hardware.

I am thrilled with my new kitchen! I put off updating for so long dreading the mess, afraid of making wrong choices, vendors not showing up and coordinating the different trades efficiently or making costly mistakes. The owner Dennis Taylor met me in my kitchen listened to my ideas and made made recommendations that worked perfect to keep me on budget. They started quickly and were finished in three weeks! I couldn't believe how easy it all went. Dennis took care of everything and even as the work was going on I threw extra work in because it was all going so well. He hiung a huge chandelier for me put in beautiful lighting, cabinets, countertops, wood floors, reworked some cabinets into a unique island and redid family room cabinets to tie the connecting rooms together nicely. So happy all was complete before the holidays! I would recommend Dennis Taylor and his company The Kitchen Taylor completely. I have had the house refinanced a have a significant appreciation over the value before work was done. Yay!
Description of Work: update large kitchen, wood floors, lighting

His prices are usually good. He can do all the work himself. He does not have to contract out for anything. He has great workmanship. He can come off as not always paying attention, sometimes.
Description of Work: In the past, he has remodeled our kitchen, bathroom and our laundry room. With that laundry room, he custom built some cabinetry and put in new counter tops.

We used Dennis in 2007 for our kitchen remodel and were pleased so we were thrilled when we contacted him regarding the bathroom. He no longer uses skilled labor for his assistant. Nice kid, not skilled. He would send the assistant early and he would show up later. He removed the soffit over the tub to open up the space. The ceiling was not level when he finished. The wall tile is not level nor is the expensive strip around the shower done correctly and it took him a lot of hours to do it poorly. The first thing I see when I walk into the bathroom are the problem areas. He couldn't install the fixtures properly and instead of bringing in a plumber he kept trying to do it himself. I had to call in the plumber to do the job right. He used a wrench on the shower and scratched the chrome fixture, promised to replace it and we have never heard from him again. Didn't install the vanity properly. I had to hire someone else to finish the job. I also had to hire a painter to fix the ceiling and the walls. I can't believe this is the same contractor we used for the kitchen. I think the difference was in 2007 things were going good in construction and he subbed out a lot of jobs to pros. In 2012 the economy was bad and he is doing the work himself to save money. Definitely would never use him again. After the kitchen I recommended him to a few people (no kickbacks, no rewards, no thank you's). I wouldn't recommend him for anything now!
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel gone wrong. Replaced the tub, sink, floor over the tub ing, and tile, and reinstalled the toilet.

Dennis Taylor worked extremely professionally, showed up every time he said he would, cleaned up after every work day; his employees were just as precise and meticulous as Dennis was. The cabinets and granite fit perfectly and he kept coming back til all the "little things" were taken care of. He is a focused worker, giving full concentration on what he is doing, no time-killing chatter. Every part of the projects were done like clockwork, very minimum disruption to the use of the kitchen.
Description of Work: The company remodeled my kitchen and powder room. The owner is a custom cabinet maker who made the vanity in the powder room. He has an eye for good design and is personally involved in his jobs.
