 + 3 moreIt was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It worked out real well. Two guys showed up instead of one so I had two guys for four hours. They fixed what I wanted fixed plus they had time left over so they fixed part of the deck and some of the brick mold around the garage door and the entrance door to the house. They cleaned everything up and I would use them again. I didn't spend any additional. They didn't have to buy any material because I already had it all there. They called within a couple of days to set it up and they were there when they said they would be.
Description of Work: I used Haris Inc to replace part of the sill plate that goes on top of the foundation. They had to remove part of the decking in order to do that. They discovered that a couple of the floor joists were sagging because they hadn't been properly attached by the previous owner so they fixed all of the deck boards. They put brick trim mold around the entrance to the house and the garage door that we hadn't gotten to yet.

 + -1 moreService provider did not contact me in the time that was stated at time of purchase and then did contact me immediatly after I sent him a message and then agreed on a date of 10/1 for his 8 hours of service. He mentioned to me at that time he would contact me prior to understand what he would be doing. On 9/30 I had not heard from him so I left a message early in the morning and didn't hear back then I called again later in the day. He called me back around 4:30. I wanted to discuss what would be done, and confirm time. He said 7:30 all along, than said 7:45 or even 8:00 since I was 40 miles away. I advised I need 7:30 for my job as well. He couldn't confirm that and also I wanted discuss what he would do. He seemed more interested in discussing when he got here. Overall I don't think either of us were comfortable with what I expect or what he wanted to do so he offered my money back and I accepted.

 + 1 moreI purchased a Big Deal which entitled me to a day's work by the contractor (6 1/2 hrs of actual on-site work.) Ibro, the owner, is a pleasant young man and was easy to work with. Although he was busy, we scheduled a time and discussed how much work could be done in the time allotted. The contractor showed up as promised with a helper. We had agreed that he would install crown molding around the ceiling of the living room and install a duct extension and vent so that we could heat the enclosed back porch of our house. We provided the molding, and the installation was done perfectly. We also requested a heating vent be installed so that our back porch, where the laundry is located, will not freeze during the winter. This was done less perfectly. Several holes were sawn into the drywall until the final location of the duct was determined. The holes that were sawn were also not square and had to be corrected. Because we had agreed to enclose the ductwork in drywall, this created additional work for us. Also, the wrong vent was selected. It should have been a right angle vent, instead of a straight vent. By installing the wrong vent, it caused the ductwork to stick out too far from the wall to encase it properly. Instead of exchanging for the right vent, the contractor left the wrong one in the wall, and I finally had to exchange it and reinstall it properly. The work took a little over 4 hours, so there should have time to make the necessary corrections. However, the contractor rushed off to his next job, and we ended up correcting the work ourselves. It seemed that the contractor was over committed and rushed through the job. The crown molding was done great so I think that if he took as much time to do the second job, it would probably have been done fine as well.
Description of Work: Put up decorative moldings and installed duct extension and vent for a back porch.

Ibro and his crew built and installed a washer and dryer pedestal (no easy task!), replaced a piece of wallboard in our laundry area, replaced an outlet and built a pleasant looking box to cover a crazy, ugly pipe that we have in our living room.

He logically moved from project to project, checking in with me to ensure the completed items were done as I expected. He worked quickly and efficiently. He came prepared with all the tools and other equipment needed. He cleaned up after each project and subsequently there was little disruption. I would hire Ibro again.
Description of Work: Ibro completed a number of small fix-it jobs around my house. Replaced door knobs, refastened a hand rail and a towel rod, fixed a broken drawer, realigned my front door as well as all my interior doors.

 + -1 morePerhaps I had a language barrier but Mr. Razman advertised himself as a "handyman". I had pre-purchased through Angie's list 8 hours of work for $300. When Mr. Razman arrived at 8:00 he immediately told me that he would be gone no later than 3pm and I was a little surprised since I thought I was paying for 8 hours. I asked Ibro (Razman) to help with issued with garage door and he told me he didn't do that type of work. I asked if he could check roof vents to be clear of debris so that they can work more efficiently. When he got in the attic he attached electrical wiring and the power vent just roared. I asked if he could fix the roar he said no that I would have to call someone else out. He did say vent was too short on bathroom vents going into attic and he needed to extend them. I said ok and he charged me $36 dollars for the material that I could have purchased for $10. Ibro installed a wiring fixture in my hallway and used electrical tape. I thought that electrical tape was old style. In an effort to find some work he could do he suggested that he complete painting the trim in the bedroom. He was gone by 3.
Description of Work: Mr. Razman connected bath vents up to roof, installed a light fixture and completed a paint job I had started in the bedroom.

I hire the person first and then give him or her a lot of leeway to do the job(s). If they do it well, I hire them again. If they perform below my expectations even though they pick and choose the work to do, I will never use them again. Time is more valuable to me and it's important that I get good value in return for my money. This handyman came, did the jobs at a fair price. I didn't rip him off and he didn't rip me off. Will use him again in the future for similar work.
Description of Work: Purchased a discounted offer for the services of a handyman from Angie's List for $299. This was a discount of 61% from the regular pricing. Since I never used the services of this handyman I made a list of about eight projects for the handyman to pick and choose to do. Two were of major concern: installation of a new lock to my front door that required the enlargement of a previously existing hole; and the installation of a new sump pump and backup pump combined. He arrived at 7:30 am, half an hour before he was to start his work day. After I presented the list he said he wasn't going to be able to do the sump pumps installation because it would be a plumber's job to do a new install; replace a bad sump pump was what he was going to do, but no new installs. After showing him around the house with the other projects he then told me he would install the sump pump and install the new door lock. Before he left for the day he would tell me how to replace the broken windows gears by myself; he allowed me to camcord it so I could refer to the instructions later. He finished the job of the sump pumps install and the door lock installation by 11:30 am. He left my house around close to noon. The other projects he didn't do: check the built-in microwave that no longer works to see if a fuse needed to be replaced or some other problem (an appliance repairman would be better at the repair); removal and re-seating of a window that was falling out of it's frame (he said a window guy would be able to that and the rest of the windows that needed such work); repair a bathtub drain (he gave me instructions on how to repair it on my own simply); installation of new thermostat (he would replace the old thermostat with an identical one, but not a new one that required rewiring); and a few others that I can do but thought I would run it past him first. Overall, the experience was above average. Since I didn't know his skill level I presented him with a list of complex to simple projects. His work was professional and he cleaned up after he finished. It was a fair pricing to pay for his experience.

He said he would bring 2 men in for four hours, because he was busy. He said he was giving me a better deal. I want the 8 hours with man I paid for. If I wanted the two men, I would've paid for the two men. At the beginning, I told him exactly what I needed done, and he said he could do the work. Now, he's saying I hired him to hang shades or put up a rack. I can't believe he changed his story at the end. I bought a Big Deal, material, and I took off today to have the work done. He didn't care when I spoke to him on the phone. Do Not Use Haris Inc!! He mis-represents the work that he says he does. He does not stand by it. If he did, he would be hear today. I picked him over 2 hours of searching because his reviews and all the work he says he does. This is ridiculous. He told me just to tell Angie's List that I wanted a refund just because of a scheduling issue. The issue is he doesn't want to do the work, because he wanted to rush through the work and make more money.
Description of Work: I asked him to put some ceramic flooring in a smaller walk in closet and other small ends. $299 for 8 Hours of Handyman Service (61% OFF)!

He was very good, detailed in his job, and takes pride in his work. He really went beyond on the job and made sure when he was hanging up the rod that it was even and steady. I plan on having him come back to do more work for us when our schedules and his own clears up.
Description of Work: He fixed the toilet that was leaking, he even added an additional toilet ring he happened to have on his truck that was better the one we had. He put an overhead light in our kitchen, fixed our stair banister, hung up a drapery rod and our tapestry. When he came into our home, the handle on our screen door was wiggling and so he fixed that too.
