Description of Work: Provider did nothing. This is the exact conversation. Called Friday 12/6/2013 and was told by the person answering the phone I will call you back Monday as i don't know if we can get to you Monday or Tuesday due to work loads. Nobody ever called and I get a phone message that a service man was at my home and naturally since I did not know they were coming nobody was home. I called back the serviceman and he had no answer for what had happened and frankly didn't care. I've used this provider in the past for my home, my church and my business. They are now off the list of people I would use in the future.

+ -1 moreWe have a mortise lock on our antique front doors and it is very tricky to install. I had the lock set (from Balwin) removed and re- plated changing it from brass to nickel. I thought I could re install it myself but couldn't. I call Suburban Lock because I used them before and was very happy. They came out in two hours after my call because they were close and I think they thought it would be a quick job. As I said, the lock is tricky and it took the installer about 3 hours to get it all working right. He did not give up even though it was now dark and well past his dinner time. He finished and charged for only the time it should have taken him. I don't plan on ever taking the lock off again.

+ -1 moreSuburban was easy to get an appointment with and they came on time and fixed the locks on two doors in our home. The man who came was knowledgeable about locks, able to answer our questions regarding the locks, and fixed them to our satisfaction at the price quoted. One of the locks he worked on was on an Anderson door we were having trouble getting to move (slide). He was unable to provide us with any suggestions or referrals to assist with that problem. It is months later and the locks are still performing well.

+ -1 moreI contacted Suburban Door Check and Lock Service to repair the broken lock on my patio door. During their initial visit, it was determined that the locking mechanism could not be repaired, and would instead have to be replaced. The part would have to be ordered, and I was told I would be called later that day or the next day with a price and approximate wait-time. I was not contacted, so I called them - and had to do so several times before the work was completed, as they never contacted me on their own. A week or ten days later, they returned to replace the broken mechanism, and the new one works fine. I'm pleased with their repair, somewhat satisfied with their price, but disappointed with their poor communication.

+ -1 moreThey had everything I needed for the deadbolts in stock (even in a special finish), and offered to take care of keying and prep just a few hours prior to close despite being shorthanded. Deadbolt pricing was reasonable, though AL handsets seemed slightly high (and were special order anyway). Very happy with the service, bought the deadbolts and will still get handsets from them later.
Description of Work: Requested quote on four Schlage B deadbolts and three AL locks with custom keying.

Description of Work: I needed to secure a lock that was broken. I call this company because the last locksmith was a "no-show." The technician arrived on time and was professional. I asked him a lot of questions and even asked about contracting him for the condo association. I asked how much it cost, he said let me go to the truck to call to find out. For a 45 minute visit I got a bill for $200.00 ($98 to drive to my condo -$90.00 per hour to replace a lock and $16.00 dollars for the parts). It took 5 minutes to replace the lock and 10 minutes to add a security bar. Obvisously the conversation cost me $90.00. He asked if I still wanted him to contract with the association - no thanks (we will be broke replacing the locks - can you imagine $90.00 per hour) Please let the customer know your prices before scheduling a call. I read the previous reviews and not one customer paid $98 dollars for a visit. I could have used a more reasonable vendor. If you are reading this review - do not hire this vendor unless you ask - how much will it cost. If you do not - they will go to the truck and create a price.

After letting me into my home, I gave him the key to the door so that he could verify the lock was properly functioning after being picked open. He also asked for my driver's license, verifying that the address on it matched the home's address. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I accidentally locked myself out of the house. My neighbor recommended this company. I called them, explained the situation and they promised to send a technician within 15 minutes.

+ -1 moreGreat experience. Technician was a little late, but only because he was researching the funky foreign locks on some of the doors, to insure he had the right information to perform the job. Was very knowledgeable, professional, and proficient in his task. All the keys worked great, which is more than you can say when you go have keys duplicated at a big box store (they never seem to fit quite right, and stick inside the cylinder requiring you to "jiggle" the key). Answered all my questions with a polite demeanor. Was done in less than an hour. I will definitely use them again!
