Oakwood Electric & Generator

I purchased a Generac 22 KW whole-house generator from Oakwood Electric and Generator in October of 2020. With the supply chain issues, they could not install the generator until March. Last week the generator was exercising (which it does once a week for 5 minutes) when it literally BLEW UP (see pictures). This week Oakwood sent their tech out to look at the machine. And, after doing a 10-minute visual inspection he said, "I have no idea what caused this." However, though they have “no idea” what cause the explosion, they think everything will be just fine if they replace the damaged parts (instead of replacing the whole machine). They ordered the parts damaged by the explosion. So put yourself in my shoes: • You spend 10K on a new generator so you can have Peace of Mind in case of emergency. • The thing blows up after 5 months of operation. • The vendor you bought it from refuses to do anything more than replace those parts visible damaged by the explosion. • Then, every time there is a storm, you get to wonder and worry whether the generator will perform to standard if the power fails. You get to wonder and worry about whether your basement will flood if the generator doesn't work. The folks at Oakwood said, "We can't prevent your machine from failing." They also told me if I wasn't happy with their service, I could work with another Generac contractor (right - because they don't want to deal with the warranty work)! The lady at Oakwood sent me a copy of the warranty and told me to "call Generac" if I was not happy – which I have done. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - BUY THE KOHLER! It's a little more expensive, but my brother has had a Kohler for 20 years and never had these kinds of problems. Generac is cheap (plastic) and the company does not stand behind their product. I have nothing else to say about Oakwood.

The task initially thought was simple but not. Kevin has great problem solving skills and was able to detect the root cause quickly. We highly recommend this company and we will hire them for our future needs.

The company did give me an estimated: they wanted to charge me an extra 200 dollars for a ladder (some fixtures were about 20 feet obove ground), fan was 14 feet above ground. I thought this charge was preposterous. Used another service who did not charge.

Made sure outlets were safe and I got exactly what I wanted, very experienced electrician. I would definitely hire again.

I hired Oakwood to remove and replace an old electrical panel in a house I was remodeling. They responded quickly and their price was fair. They were able to start the work quickly and they were on time and polite. I plan to hire them again for additional work.

Our first time using Oakwood. They responded same day which was helpful given that the circuit that was no longer working was the one our refrigerator was on. Raul came out to investigate. He explained everything as he was going along and what work would need to be done to fix it and was patient with our questions. Work was scheduled for following morning. Raul and Ken came the next day and did a great job running conduit and 3 new circuits for us. Both were courteous and professional. They were careful about protecting our carpet and floors as they worked between the crawl space and the kitchen. When they were done they explained and showed everything they had done and made sure everything was back in its place and in good working order. I feel very confident in the work they did and would hire them again.

The particular breaker was the one which controlled the furnace. Our house temp was down to 61 degrees. I called Oakwood because they said they provide emergency service. I was told I would have to wait until 4 PM but they would definitely come that day. The guys were actually early and they called to make sure I was home. Raul and Ed were very friendly and fast. I did have a coupon, but my service didn't reach the cost threshold required. I was just happy to have the heat back on!

Great job done! It was a more complicated job than I'd initially thought, which made it even better to know I'd hired a pro. All went well, and everything is working - and looking - great. I have a couple other similar lights needing replacement in an awkward spot by a stairwell, and I won't hesitate to call them back when I'm ready.

Tech found no problem with function of outlet except there was reverse polarity in the wiring and he corrected that. I asked if he could install the microwave but explained he could not do that. Tech explain the reason why 2 of the 4 ceiling fan bulbs were not turning on when I pulled the chain only once. This type of fan has a 4-way function string that allows you to choose how many bulbs you want activated.

Outstanding experience from first call/visit through the final county inspection. We purchased a 22kw generator. The Oakwood team performed exactly as promised. Always arrived on time, explained each step in the process, e.g., permitting, installation, etc. Responded to each email or phone call promptly. I wish all contractors we've used were as good as Oakwood Electric. We highly recommend them to anyone interested in investigating and/or buying a Generac generator.

We are very pleased with every aspect of the purchase of a Generac whole house generator from Oakwood Electric. Rob gave an excellent sales presentation. They beat the competition in price, provided us with the latest model, and included the base pad, for which the competition would have charged extra. The installers did an excellent job and gave me an orientation before leaving. Today the City inspector reviewed and approved the installation. No more long term power outages!

They did a great job installing the generator, on time and on budget. Since installation the generator has worked very well and Oakwood has provided ongoing maintenance. They have been available to answer whatever questions we have had. Terrific service that I would recommend to anyone

The Oakwood team did an excellent job of everything. Arvy carefully adapted the larger service panel into the already decorated paneled wall, so that it looks great. All interior work was done with care toward interior furnishing so no damage occurred to basement rec room. Couldn't be happier with job.

I cannot day enough great things about my overall service. The entire team was professional, punctual, reasonably priced, helpful and speedy! I never write reviews, but I had to recommend this company for anyone looking for electrical help around the house. I had questions along the way and Becky was patient and nice to entertain my multiple calls. Herb went out of his way to help me replace the weatherproof outlet covers...so much so that he returned on his own later in the week with a part he didn’t have on the truck during the initial install! Everything went great. Herb arrived right on time, we showed him what needed to be done and he got right to it. Everything was done exactly as we wanted, Herb was very professional and did an excellent job. We even had a few other electric projects that he was going to research and give us an estimate to fix something another electrician had messed up on us. Would highly recommend them for efficiency and price.

My bathroom electrical outlet had just stopped working. I looked for an electrician on Angie's List and contacted Oakwood Electric. The women who answered the phone was very helpful. I told her my only outlet in the bathroom just went out and asked if they could send a technician today. She put me on hold and checked; she said that Alex was in the area between appointments and would be right over. Sure enough he arrived in about 20 minutes and even put booties on at my door. He was professional and courteous. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to install a new outlet very quickly. The work took less than 1/2 hour. I was very satisfied with this work and would contact Oakwood again if I needed electrical service.

After showing Herb what needed to be done, he started right in. The wires were from an old garbage disposal that had been removed. It didn't take long for the work to be done. Everything looked nice and neat when he finished. My parents recommended Oakwood. They did a wonderful job. I would definitely use them again for electrical issues.

Alex was able to come out within a few hours. He determined the main breaker was the problem and quickly fixed it. My husband and I were very impressed with his professionalism. If we ever need any other electrical work done we will call Oakwood.

Herb and his crew from Oakwood Electric & Generator were fantastic. After having my kitchen remodeled all of the lighting needed to be redone. I had pendant lighting for our kitchen island added and repositioned, and additional recessed lighting installed. Oakwood Electric did a great job and I am very happy with the results. They were punctual, professional and cleaned up after themselves. They took the time to answer my questions and and made sure that they knew exactly what I wanted. I was interested in incorporating smart lighting into my home even though that wasn't a part of my initial service request. Herb was more than happy to help explain how it works and help me set up a Philips Hue smart lighting system. I absolutely love the results! I can now turn my kitchen lights on and off by voice command by using Philips Hue in conjunction with Amazon Echo. I will be using Oakwood Electric again for my future lighting projects.
