Excellent work! Handled a tough installation very well.

I called to schedule an electrician visit for the following day for an electrical problem in our home. The woman answering the phones at Oakwood can take your name and number but not schedule a service call. The woman who actually schedules was "away from her desk." No one else apparently could schedule an electrician service call. I called back over an hour later and the same woman answering the phones could only take a message, and yes, asked for my phone number a second time. I waited another hour with no call back and called another company. That number was answered by the electrician himself, and problem solved.

Arrived on time, very quick quality work. Two man crew, because of the height of the foyer, and they were done in a little less than an hour. Well worth the cost. I recommend and would use again.

Oakwood continues to be a great company from first phone call to job completion. Rob came out and estimated the work as asked, he explained the work needed in detail and the price was very reasonable. A day was picked and they showed up to do the work as planned. He and his partner Alex were very professional, finished the work as planned and did a great job of cleaning up after all the work was completed.

After speaking to ( and receiving estimates from) a number of companies to install a whole-house back-up generator., it became obvious that Rob knew what he was talking about. Some salesmen pitched a bare bones system that would not accomplish what I wanted. One salesman said I could not do something I specifically asked for. Rob was very punctual, knowledgeable, and personable. Rob took the time to explain the operation and installation of the generator. He also corrected some of the things I was told by other salesmen. After talking with Rob we determined he could accomplish everything I wanted. And his pricing was inline with the other estimates Rob and Becky kept me informed all through the process of ordering, permits (which Rob took care of), delivery, and installation. I needed some trenching done, which again Rob took care of (at a reasonable price). After the installation Rob took the time to show and explain the operation of the generator, and any of the things I could control. They also did a very good job of cleaning up. The installation and village inspection went without any problems. I will definitely use Oakwood Lighting for any future needs.

Scheduling was fast and easy. Rob and his partner arrived on time with all the equipment they needed in order to do the job. They worked straight through the day and came back next morning to complete the job. They finished the work at our home before starting any other job. Clean up was complete. Both workers went out of their way to see that the job was done right. At one point in establishing the gutter heating system, they ran into an angry wasps' nest. Rob made a trip to the local hardware store, bought wasp spray, and eradicated the nest. The cost for their work was very reasonable.

The entire job went smoothly and took the estimated time given over the phone. Rob and Alex were very professional and courteous. I would definitely hire them again.

My current microhood was hardwired to the electrical service in the cabinet above the stove. Apparently, due to the placement of the ventilation ductwork in front of the electrical wiring, the installers decided to hardwire the unit rather than move the outlet. The new unit requires an outlet. Rob quickly assessed the problem and placed a new outlet in a position accessible for installation of the new unit. He and his helper were here at the appointed time and finished this task within 30 minutes. Rob also discussed and provided advice about the undercabinet lighting. They were very professional and talked with me at the appropriate level of understanding -- a seemingly rare trait with contractors these days! Thanks, Rob!

This work, because of the height of the ceiling, required 2 men. They arrived earlier than the scheduled appointment and finished the job within the estimated time of 1 hour.

The lights on some of my circuits were flickering. I had a family member electrician replace the main circuit breaker. That did not fix it. ComEd came out to inspect the meter box. It looked corroded. I wanted to have the meter box replaced. I contacted Oakwood because they were highly rated on Angie's List and are not far from me. Becky from Oakwood responded to my email quickly. She let me send her pictures of my meter box. She sent me a detailed, professional quote. I sent her more questions and another picture. She answered all of my questions. I was very pleased with them. I asked for quotes from a few other companies, also rated high on Angie's List. I decided to have someone else do the work at a lower price.

Absolutely no complaints on any of their work.

Oakwood Lighting was of one three companies that I had come to my house to give me an estimate on the installation of a whole house generator. All three companies have experience in installing whole house generators. What separated Oakwood Lighting from the other companies was the owner, Rob Rheingten, who unlike the other gentlemen gave me an estimate on the spot. He also took the time to sit down with me and explain how the generator would work, the installation process, as well as answer any questions I might have had. I had a lot and he answered them quite thoroughly. Rob took care of acquiring the necessary permit. The installation process went quite smoothly, with the help of his co-worker. The job was completed in a day. This included removing of landscaping, installing a rectangular box made from timbers and filled with pea gravel from where the generator would sit, installing the generator itself and the gas line. Rob then showed my wife, as I was not home, how the generator worked by shutting off the power to the house which caused the generator to start up. He went through and showed the components of the generator to my wife. Two days later Rob came over as the city inspector came to see if the installation was up to code, it was. He took the time to go through the process of how the generator worked for me. I was extremely impressed with Rob's workmanship, his openess to answering questions, and the continued support I will receive from his company. More importantly I feel I now have an electrician I can trust.

I chose this company based on Angie's list recommendations. I was not disappointed. He was on time for estimate, told us where to go to look at fans and lights, picked up the fans/sconce and installed them earlier than originally planned. Cleaned up everything, installs are beautiful! His cost was a little higher than 2 other places (abt $200 more), but I liked Rob's explanation of job, professionalism, the office staff and the lighting company he recommended. We will use him again!

Rob and Alex did a terrific job. They arrived on time and started working immediately. They were both very helpful, personable, and professional. All jobs contracted for were completed in about 2 hours. They were very neat and tidy. I had almost no cleanup to do after they left, only a very little light vacuuming. They also noticed a couple of small wiring deficiencies in my attic which were corrected at no additional charge. They also reinstalled a ceiling fan, moved a light fixture, and installed a ceiling fan control switch, all of which I assumed would be my responsibility. I was very pleased with Oakwood Lighting and will call on them again if I ever need any additional electrical work.

It Took a them one week toreturn my call, and then they werent avaialbe for another week.

Everything went as planned. Electrician was prompt, neat. He was able to hang the fixtures as expected. Work took less than one hour.

The technician for Oakwood Lighting came out and arrived on time and fixed the wiring of a circuit that had been giving us trouble for awhile. It appeared to be fixed when he left however later that evening it started acting up again. Oakwood Lighting came out the next day to work on it again (at no charge the second time). Professional, on time, and quick to come back when they were notified that we were still having problems.

Great! Rob also provided estimates for a couple of other jobs as well as provided suggestions for improvements.

They were on time, the service was good, took them a day and half to do it, and out they went. Everything was clean. They asked me to check everything over to make sure everything worked the way I wanted it to. They were very polite and good.

Rob was very knowledgeable about whole house generators. He is certified by Generac. He was very clear about the products and was able to accurately assess what we would need. He supplied us with options that would work for our situation. The installation was done quickly and in a very professional manner. We had several estimates on this project and this company was by far the most qualified and the most economical. We would hire Oakwood Lighting again without a second thought.

We purchased an older home with several outlets that didn't work properly. We also had ghost light switches that didn't connect to any outlets. The electrician, Ron or Rob was great. I told him I only had 2 hours worth to spend and boy did he speed through the house for me. He even ran out to Sears and bought another outlet cover so he could custom cut it to fit above my countertop. I would use them again in an instant!!!

Rob and Alex were great, what a team!! I had a painting project going on and decided we needed some additional lighting installed. Rob responded and was flexible with his scheduling, getting the additional work done before the painters left the job and ulimatly saving us money in the long run. These guys gave everything they did that "extra effort" that you don't see much of now days. Using Oakwood was a pleasure and I WILL be calling these guys in the future for my electrical and lighting needs.

I have always had difficulty finding and electrician for some reason. I selected OAKWOOD because they were close to our home. Rob called to confirm- arrived promptly and both he and his assistant wore booties in our home. They were thorough and answered other questions I had. Know I have an electrician I would recommend to all my friends1

Rob and his helper did an excellent job. They covered everything in one very hot day and were very flexible in adapting to our needs. For example, I preferred different light fixtures than those Rob brought with him. Instead of 3 long fixtures originally quoted, I purchased 8 different fixtures from a local supplier. The installation cost difference was very reasonable. They had to dig a trench from the house to the garage and did it where I wanted it without any problem. The new panel was neatly installed and five new GFCI outes were positioned exactly where I requested. Then we had some existing wiring and switch problems. Rob resolved it by replacing the existing wiring and switches with no cost or minimal charge for all the extra items. There were complications in switching 3 circuits to the emergency panel. All but one item could be switched, but they did it, tested the circuits and all works fine. Then the defective outlet was replaced -- at no additional cost. I asked Rob for assistance in our landscape lighting project and he was very helpful. He provided suggestions on types of lighting, layout ideas, product brands and reasonable sources for the components. We found Rob and his team to be a pleasure to work with, discuss options, problems and scheduling. They made and kept their commitments, respected our property as though it was theirs, and cleaned up after themselves. Oakwood lighting will be asked to quote on all of our future our electrical needs. We have signed a contract for annual emergency generator maintenance and plan to ask them to install our new landscape lighting.
