 + -1 moreTwo words sum up my experience: Buyer beware! Larry was very nice during his initial consultation. He performed the work over the course of several days while we were at work. He was always gone by the time we returned home. While working, he removed old material through our yard and completely destroyed sod and gravel that we had just installed in July 2007! When we first saw this, my husband asked him to put down plywood to protect the grass, and he flat out refused. When the time came for us to pay him, my husband wanted a discount to cover the sod and stones that we would now have to replace, and again, he refused. Fast-forward to January 2008. Chicago was hit with below-zero temps, wind gusts near 50mph and lots of snow for a few days. Larry never secured the garage roof to the new wall, so the wind gusts tore the roof halfway off, leaving the roof decking exposed to the snowstorm that ensued. Now we have a ruined roof that we must repair in spring.
Description of Work: Larry Secor re-built a crumbling garage wall for us in October 2007. He tuckpointed another wall. Larry also managed to ruin our new sod and gravel. He did not secure the roofing material to the re-built wall, nor did he inform us of this. We now have a major roof repair to handle in the spring as a result of his negligence. We have contacted him on both of these issues, and he absolutely refuses to acknowledge his shoddy work and reimburse us for the extra expenses. Given the amount that I paid for a semi-retired former union mason, I expected much better quality and service. I am thoroughly disgusted by this ordeal.
