If a zero was possible, that is what I would give this contractor. I hired him to install under cabinet lights. He came out with an obviously untrained apprentice who did all of the work while he sat and barked out orders -- screaming at him much of the time. At one point the apprentice was lost and did not know what to do. Rather than helping him, he responded -- "figure it out idiot" and sat there staring at him. Eventually, I started helping the apprentice myself. He then billed me over a $1000. Shortly after I received the bill, he called demanding payment. I explained that I felt I was overbilled. But, I agreed to pay him $700 that night if he would consider it payment in full. He agreed, but has continued sending me invoices for allegedly past due amounts and has even filed a mechanics lien on my house. Do not use this bully.

The solar array had failed. Frank Electric was contacted and they provided prompt service. Mr. Frank was very knowledgeable of solar panel installations and quickly recognized the problem. The contractor who installed the panels originally had used an underground splice which Mr. Frank replaced. After checking and verifying the original installation, two other corrections were also completed to insure proper operation and code compliance. There was no charge for the trainee who assisted. Mr. Frank explained that after 45 years of gaining experience he hoped to provide that knowledge to others and had instituted a hands on trainee program under full supervision. Not only did I receive work above and beyond all expectations, I was pleased to feel that I was contributing to the future.

Wow I’ve never had to call the police to remove a contractor. This is exactly what happened. From reading the previous reviews it seems like this guy is competent to some degree but what happened next is indescribable. Once he said he completed the work all he’ll broke loose.... I feared for my life as his mental state changed. He threatened me and my family and wouldn’t leave my house after he finished for the day. Frank gave me an estimate over the phone for $250-$300 and also said he charges by the hour at $82/ hour. I asked him how long it would take and he said 2 hours 3 maximum. He then said he would be out to my house that night to finalize estimate and he NEVeR showed up. I get a call 2 hours later saying he was sorry and he could come out tonight he morning and do the work right then and there is the price was right. Frank came on time but this dude was fuc&3d up. He couldn’t hold the pen to do the estimate, he was wobbling around like he needed a walker. I thought I myself I’m not paying for this guy per hour especially since he can’t wven work in his condition. Keep in mind Frank is like 85 years old (literally) and he doesn’t actually do the work. He hires temp labor to do the work which not only takes twice as long Frank has to yell at this poor black guy because he is doing it wrong. Well guess what Frank if you got off you rear end to do the work we are paying you fguys em then maybe the work would get finished in a timely manner. The temp worker repeatedly was forgetting tools upstairs and also downstairs and they tracked mud throughout my house. $150 cleaning the next day but that’s another story. Frank struggled all day. He couldn’t figure out the issue with the simple doorbell. He and his little partner tried to use a Dewalt $68 drill to go through concrete and hardened brick. His assistant spent over an hour trying to drill through the brick. Frank sat in his *** in the car- meanwhile he is racking up paid time in his mind. What a joke this guy is. So after I hear this crazy Louis noise for over an hour I proceed to go outside to see what the heck is going on. I find these yahoos using the Dewalt and I quickly go into my garage to find the huge Hammer Drill I have. I let these guys borrow it to get through the work quicker. He finished shortly after in 1 minute- literally. No thank you nothing. He just moved on. 5 hours later my entire carpeting is mud with dirt embedded in the stairway. They never once took off their shoes. I stayed quiet. Frank calls me in to say the doorbell doesn’t work and he is finished and is ready for the check. I said ***!!!!! I went downstairs and there is shi!! Everywhere! Wires....wire sheathing....plastic.....dirt.....pieces of metal that my 4 year old could choke on. I asked him what in the world is going on and he said he was done. Look not a thing was working. My doorbell literally didn’t ring the chime that this jackarse installed in the basement stairwell! You can’t even hear it in the house. So now I say, “Frank the work I agreed to py for is not close to finished. He insisted my doorbell was broken and I needdd to go to Best Buy to buy a new one.” Dude this is a brand new doorbell from Nest. Nothing is wrong. The only thing wrong is that he accepted a job that was over his head. He couldn’t figure this doorbell and now wanted to charge me for all the time he was here eating and figuring it out. Installing a nest doorbell takes 30 minutes maybe 2 hrs at most if you need to run a little wire. Frank was charging me $588 dollars for a doorbell that doesn’t work!! I told him no way can I pay for this service since he never completed it. I actually offered this guy $350 because I felt sorry for his African American worker. He treated that guy very poorly. Screaming at him- degrading him. It was painful to watch. Anyways Frank sat down at my kitchen table and got EXTREMELY aggressive. He yelled at me and said he was going to call the police if I didn’t pay. I immediately called the cops and they came in 10 minutes. Frank was kicked out shortly after He then proceeded to send me another hill in the mail! For $232!! I called him and he said he was turning me into collections. This guys is dangerous and a lot of trouble!!!

We set up a time to have the repair done and the electrician did not arrive on time and I had to leave. I did agree to reschedule and the weather did not warrant outside work. I received a bill for the service call that was marked past due. I called to ask why I was billed for a service call when the electrician arrived late. The person I spoke to said I had to pay and that they would sue me and put a lien on my house. The person I spoke to would not even listen to me and explain why I owed the money in light of the late arrival. He said they would turn it over to their attorneys, sue me and put a lien on my house all for $72.00. I have contacted my attorney and I will be happy to see them in court. The attitude displayed to me was quite rude and unprofessional. *update* 5/06/2018 The company is not telling the truth. We are not in Chicago and they did indeed come to our home. My review stands as is. It looks like the company did not even read my review. Their response is quite disingenuous at best

Response from FRANK ELECTRIC CO
This is not our customer. We do not service Chicago. (Complaint showed Chicago address) Further checking of our computer records from 2016, we find that actually our electrician arrived ahead of the scheduled time. Mr [Member Name Removed] either was mistaken on the scheduled time or plain out choose to ignore it. A service charge is accessed for an electrician to service a customer.. Any service charge however is waived on a future appointment.to complete the work. Please note that there was not a labor charge. Obviously, Mr [Member Name Removed] failed to reschedule the work at his convenience. He was billed 12/6/16 but did not pay until 2/3/17. Unfortunately there are customers like that.

I called several electricians and these folks got back to me fastest at a time I needed some help. F1 tornado went right through the back yard and branches fell pulling the com-ed service drop 2" conduit right off the wall of the house on a Tuesday night. Wednesday Com Ed spent all day getting the tree branches off the power line in the whole neighborhood. Com Ed cut the lines to my house and would not re-connect unless the service drop was fixed. I was worried that by the time I got an electrician to fix it all, the Com Ed crews would be done and gone and I'd wait days to get them back as there was lots of damage in the surrounding areas. I got hold of Frank Electric the next morning (Wednesday). They were out the next morning and got everything fixed in about 2 hours well before Com Ed was done.

I originally called Frank Electric to check problem with blinking lights. They traced problem to neutral wire underground and called ComEd for me (ComEd acknowledged problem but said they could not fix until it bad line stopped working altogether!). Frank Electric then gave me a quote for above work. They came out on time and did all of the above work in about 3 hours (2 men). They were professional and curteous. Several options were explained to me along the way. Everything works well and looks good.

Contractor arrived promptly at scheduled time, very nice and friendly, very thoroughly reviewed wiring in electrical panel - tightened wires, adjusted breakers where necessary, reviewed wiring outside based on our comments about flickering light, found an issue with wiring that was Com Ed's responsibility to repair, gave us Com Ed's number, went the extra step in reviewing our electrical system, reviewed other projects we would like to complete in future and provided written cost estimate, explained what they would recommend we do and what was not really necessary based on the quality of our current electrical system, even suggested areas where we might be able to save some money - highly professional, very helpful, highly recommended

Frank Electric did a great job for us. We had five separate projects that we wanted completed in our house. We received a very reasonable estimate for the jobs, and we gave them the "go ahead" right on the spot. They completed the jobs in under two hours and were very professional throughout the process. I would recommend Frank Electric without hesitation and will use them again if I have future electrical projects in my home.

We have used them several times, and I have already recommended them to friends. If it is electrical, they know how to fix it. The last time they worked for us, they had to do a lot of digging and trenching. They did a great job.
Description of Work: They added two electrical outlets outdoors. They also ran gas line connections, from the house, to the gas grill. They did digging and trenching in order to do this.
