Project went over schedule by 8 months, over budget, and work was performed poorly. I am still dealing (as in have flooding, mold, drainage and additional issues unresolved) with the fallout of all the sub-par and in some cases, outright dishonesty and unethical service provided. Prime example: My basement "pad" was completely torn out since the original was less than 1" thick and tree roots were causing floor to buckle in the basement. Old pad was completely demolished and re-poured with absolutely NO DRAINAGE provided. A sump pump was installed, or rather I should say "placed" with ZERO drainage leading to or away from it. This was discovered after the project was finished. And when I say finished, what actually happened was that when the punchlist for final finish items such as trim, window handles, proper appliance installation, baseboard, stair railings, etc. etc. lagged on for over two months, I finally told the Catalyst owner Eric that I was tired of waiting, that I would be using my final payment of $10,000 toward finishing the project with another contractor, and he agreed with the axiom that I "don't put a bad review on Angie's List". So basically I was bribed to keep my review to myself, which I was willing to do in order to finally finish the project. I hired others to complete the project and was told the quality of work done by Catalyst used cheap materials and corners were cut that made satisfactory finishing impossible. Example: Hot water radiator was not removed for proper tile installation on bathroom wall - they installed far as they could go and then just picked up on other end of radiator! It was Spring of 2014 when my water problems began. I have about $35,000 of repairs to do which I am saving up for...I need to remove all the flooring n the basement which is ruined because of flooding; remove drywall which has mold due to flooding; have drainage system engineered and installed which will entail another round of excavating concrete; and finally have new pad re-poured, buy new flooring and install, and replace drywall and trim, and repaint. It will be awhile before I can afford all this. I am not pursuing a remedy with Catalyst because they are the LAST people I would ever have in my house to do work. I am considering a lawsuit since I have proof that they purposely deceived me that drainage was in place when they installed the prop (non-functioning) sump pump. The owner, who touts himself as ex-military and a really great honest guy, is a snake who does not pay his subs in a timely manner and is only interested in the next sale. STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM CATALYST Construction!!!

Brad is an energetic guy! He worked through the subfloor in a couple of hours, and built the stairs in a couple more hours. The worksmanship was good. He put up a sister joint on one of the floor joints in the kitchen, and provided some tips for what to tell the tile guys in a couple of weeks. He's a good guy to talk to and listens to what you have to say. The stairs are solidly built, and a railing was provided and sited well. The work area was left clean. Overall, I'd be happy to work with Brad again.
Description of Work: Inspected the subfloor, replaced one particularly bad 40-year-old chunk that had warped because of water damage and general house settling. Built a two-step staircase leading from the dining room into the garage.
