When the fall furnace inspection was done, Brian found the furnace needed to be replaced--he had told me the year before it would probably need replacing in a year or two. He thoroughly explained my options and emailed me proposals for different options. He also recommended the best option for me. I went with his recommendation and although this is a very busy time, he was able to get the furnace and AC installed quickly. He answered all my questions and left the area cleaner than he found it. He offers an annual service plan which works well for me because the units are checked and ready to go before I need to turn them on. I highly recommend him.

Brian was able to fit us in on a same day call. We had recently purchased a new home and noticed an odd gas-like odor. He was able to come out and use special equipment to determine that there wasn't a gas leak, which was a great relief for us. We were also having trouble with an a/c unit, which he determined to be empty of freon! He was able to replace the freon. We have always been very happy with Leith and will refer and call them again with any heating and cooling needs.

Needed new furnace and air conditioner. Brian came out and gave me a quote. He explained all options. I scheduled service and it was done on time within a day. He also helped me with all rebates. Very good price and service! I will be calling him for future repairs.

We have used Leith over the last few years for our furnace and A/C servicing so when it came time for a full system replacement we didn?t consider any other contractor. Brian has proven to be completely competent and trustworthy and we were more interested in the highest quality installation with the best components rather than the absolute best price. With that said I think we paid a very reasonable price for what we received. Brian came out to the house to find out what we wanted and to review different possibilities. He carefully listened to our requirements and made suggestions based on efficiency, cost, and performance. We have two rooms in our house that are difficult to heat and cool based on the way the house was built. Brian suggested some different approaches and in the end we chose the high speed, variable speed blower unit for high efficiency and also to better circulate air to those difficult rooms. There were rebates available from ComEd and Nicor and he recommended units that would maximize our rebate as well. Based on his recommendations we chose a very efficient furnace (in our climate it gets more use), a fairly efficiency A/C unit (our climate does not justify the premium cost of the best A/C though), a humidifier, and thermostat. Once we settled on exactly what we wanted we agreed on an installation date and they agreed to come out a few days early just to remove the outdoor A/C unit so that we could do some maintenance in that area of the house before the new unit was put in. In our location we need to have a permit for this kind of work and we weren?t sure if the city would require anything special from the contractor but Brian assured us that he would work with them in any way necessary. As it turned out we needed nothing special at all but it was reassuring to know that our contractor would work with us to get things done if necessary as the city building department is not always pleasant to deal with. On the day of installation the first two Leith employees arrived and installed the old furnace in no time (less than an hour) and were ready when Brian showed up with the remaining pieces. The three of them worked steadily for a few hours and were completely done with the installation by early-afternoon. They were very careful when they took out the old equipment and brought the new pieces in and were very courteous as they came and went. We came across a few unexpected issues and Brian was careful to explain the alternatives and we were able to work those issues out quickly. He also explained the operation of the new unit along with the new thermostat we picked out. We wanted a more versatile thermostat that allowed occasional remote access and so we ended up with a control that can do a lot of different things but required more explanation and Brian was very good at explaining all of it. So far this cool LCD control is our favorite part of the new furnace! A few days later the city inspector checked out the new installation and though he did find a couple of minor issues (I think they need to justify their trip and the permit cost to the homeowner) the inspection passed with no problem. In this instance I actually found the building department and inspector pleasant to deal with. One item was so small I easily fixed it myself. The other one Brian has agreed to come out and fix ? it is a small mater regarding the supply line to the humidifier and is largely a code technicality. Most importantly the city inspector praised the quality of the installation and the workmanship. He pointed out several things that were done much better than a typical installation and was generally very pleased with the work. In summary, Brian and him employees are a pleasure to work with. They do a great job of explaining what needs to be done, make recommendations based on input from the homeowner, and they do top notch work. If there are any issues they strive to resolve them quickly. We would not hesitate to recommend Leith for routine maintenance or complete system replacement ? they do it all with quality and integrity and as a bonus are just nice guys. We couldn?t ask for more.

Made contact in late afternoon. Asked if I wanted service right away or would tomorrow be ok. I set apt for next morning. Brian arrived on time after calling and confirming we were home about 10 min prior to arrival. Very professional and friendly. We are very satisfied with the service we receive.

Our heat stopped working early morning. Called Brian in the morning and he arrived within 45 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and replace the ignitor. We had our heat back. He honored Angie's list coupon as well as gave cash discount. Will definitely use Leith again in the future.

Our furnace stopped working last night around 10pm. I called Leith and Brian returned my call within 10 minutes. He was at our house to repair the furnace within the hour. It was sub zero and a miserable night, but he still came. The exhaust motor had burned out. He was able to get it going to give us some heat to warm the house back up until he could get the part from the manufacturer in the morning. He called me in the morning, just like he said he would, and had the part. He arrived later in the morning and replaced the motor. He only charged us for the part and the one time discounted trip charge (because we have the service contract). He really went above and beyond and we are so happy. Leith is our furnace/AC company now.

On 1/8/14 I was awakened at 4am by a burning smell and while checking noticed that the house was cold and at 60 degrees. I had been leaving the thermostat at 68 degrees constantly during the below zero weather we've had this week so it dropped that much in a few hours due to the extreme cold. I found the furnace off, checked the code, reset, etc., The gas and flame worked but no blower so I suspected the blower had burned out. I called Brian at 6am with my diagnosis. He returned my call at 6:30 and he was at my house at 7am. In 2012 I contacted Brian based on Angie's List reviews for an issue with my A/C and was so impressed with him and his service that I kept his info in case I had any other HVAC issues. Brian is personable, professional, and does quality work. He had a blower motor on his truck that would work in my furnace and he had the furnace up and running within 2 hours, which was welcomed because the house had dropped to 54 degrees by that time. Brian is my HVAC guy and I will use him in the future for preventative maintenance on my furnace and A/C, and of course for any emergencies as well. I highly recommend him to my friends and family. Tech was later for the appointment by 30 minutes but called 10 minutes before the appointment time to inform me he would be late.||The Tech was very knowledgeable about H/V/AC and was able to address all of my questions and concerns.||Asked for a quote to correct a heating duct issue with poor airflow to some rooms. Still waiting on the quote, he told me that he would have it to me in a couple of days. I believe that the Thanksgiving holiday may have them backed logged but it would be nice if he would send me an email and let me know when he will do the quote. 2/4/14 Update: I have been in contact with the Tech now on several occasions. The tech had originally responded with the information in a very reasonable time frame but his email when to the wrong address. When he did not hear back from me in regards to the email he followed up with a phone call. Good thing he did. He has been very helpful working out a very difficult problem with my Heating.

checked my furnace and found a faulty motor which he will order and install later for me . My twelve year old furnace is working.

I reported no heat. Leith inspected and showed me with smart phone photo that heat exchanger was cracked. Technician advised of price to replace heat exchanger on my 14 year old furnace, and how that compared to replacing furnace entirely. Decised to replace furnace entirely. Leith made appoiintment to come back and replace furnace. It too about two hours. Excellent, courteous service.

I needed my air conditioner serviced and found Leith on Angie's List. I called to make an appointment. I left a message and was called back quickly. The appointment was made. The technician arrived on time and explained what he would do. He was professional, friendly and easy to talk with. Service was performed professionally and the work area was left clean. He explained what was done. He explained things that were easy for me to understand. I would use this company again and would recommend them to others looking for this service. It went great. Brian called to let me know when he'd be arriving and was on time. I felt very confident in him. He did our ac tune up, including changing the whole house furnace filter, which we had signed up for (service contract). Our ac unit is old and needed Freon, something it's needed in the past. We got prices for a new unit that we will most likely do next year. One of the reasons we decided to switch to Leith was their service contract. They come out twice a year and do the ac for summer and the furnace for winter, changing our furnace filter both times. Our previous person only came out once a year in the fall. I never liked that as the ac was getting done at the end of the season and sat dormant all winter. Also, they changed the whole house filter once a year, something they said was fine but I always wondered about, charged trip charges if something needed a part and they had to come back to put it in (they never had the part on the truck it seemed), and their price seemed to get high. When I started looking for a new ac/furnace company, I wanted one that was rated well on Angie's List. I looked into many factors: rating, emergency service, what their services included. When I got the quote from Leith, it was a lot less than what our previous ac provider charged and it included TWO filters for two service calls (one for ac and one for furnace). Our whole house furnace filter isn't cheap either. Leith doesn't charge if they don't have a part on the truck and have to come back. Brian also gave me estimates for a new furnace and doesn't simply install one brand. Our old provider only sold and installed one brand. We would highly recommend Leith. They are honest, knowledgeable, friendly, reasonable and get an A from us.

Although Brian didn't do the work, I was impressed by his honesty. He said that he hated to turn down a significant job like this, but he didn't feel that he could meet the standards that I would expect in terms of when it would be done due to the large size of the job and his company's other commitments and that he didn't want to commit to a job which may not leave me as a satisfied customer. Despite that, he spent time describing in detail the HVAC options.

Our air conditioner was inspected and all service was completed. The unit runs very smooth and most importantly our home is the temperature we set the thermostat at. I was very pleased with Leith Heating and Cooling and will use them again

Brian came to look at our set-up, find out what we wanted, and drew up a proposal with several options. We wanted to take advantage of the Nicor and ComEd rebates, and Brian made sure that the equipment we chose would qualify. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything and was readily available to answer all questions and concerns we had. Once the decisions were made, they showed up exactly when they said they would to do the work. The removal and installation was all finished in one day, with no mess left behind. There is no question at all whether we would use Leith again - YES! I wish every customer service experience could be so pleasant. The difference in the new AC is impressive; it can drop the temperature several degrees in just a few minutes, unlike our old, inefficient unit. It was not exactly cheap, but their price was in line with the other quotes we got.There is really nothing negative to say. Great company, great service, reasonable price.

I'm very happy with them. What I really liked about him was that, I'd had two other companies look at it, and he found the problem and fixed it. He told me I didn't have to do it but he would suggest it. Also, I'd set up an appointment with him and he called me that day and said that he had a couple of emergencies, that was back when we had a really cold spell, and there was somebody who was out of heat and needed a new furnace, and asked if I'd mind if he rescheduled and I said no because mine was running OK, I just needed a check-up. So I like that he would take care of somebody in dire need. He is prompt, professional and he gives a great service at a great price. I usually don't sign up for service agreements, but I got one from him in the mail to save about $10 to $15 a service call for a check-up and I'm signing it and sending it in because that's how much I really like him.

When he found out that we didn't have any heat he made every offer to come out as soon as possible. He is very friendly and responsive. It's really nice that he followed out very quickly and shifted an appointment to get here as soon as possible.

Excellent experience; Brian's dad Peter is an expert in older furnaces like ours. Prompt, courteous, punctual, good communication, no extra charge for same day (during working hours) service, and no pushing of a new furnace on us (though he did tell us that our older furnace vented to the chimney was only 40% efficient, and a newer American Standard furnace vented elsewhere would be 90% efficient). When a furnace noise intermittently appeared after his first visit, he came back for free to slightly loosen the blower belt tension and stayed to discover the clogged air cleaner. We have used three other HVAC companies in our area, and dreaded calling them again for service because they acted as though maintaining an older furnace was a sore trial for them. My house has zone heating which uses 2 furnaces...both 20+ years old and not very efficient anymore. When one unit started malfunctioning, Brian determined that the cost of the repair would be about 25% of the cost of replacing the unit entirely with a new more efficient model. Considering the age of the unit, we decided not to pay for an expensive repair (not knowing how long before something else would break down) and replace that faulty unit along with the equally old and inefficient (but still functioning properly for now) other unit. Brian and his guys came in and replaced both furnaces and did a great job...hauled away the old units, cleaned up the work area. Now I have two efficient furnaces and a warm house.

It took three 2 get to the true cause of the problem, We only had to pay for the parts that correct the problem. This was our first time we needed service on the furnace since we moved into out new home. Great job getting to the true cause. Thanks and you hear from us then ever we need service.

I had been without heat for two days. I called Leith about 7:30am Monday morning and he returned my call in about ten minutes. Brian was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. I am completely satisfied that I made a good choice through Angie's List. I will use again as needed.

We received a prompt quotation and after review we agreed to a date, and they arrived right on time and removed the old units and then prepared the new units for installation, the replacements required a minimal amount of modification and the installation was complete in under four hours from stat to finish .

The job apparently was too small for two other heating contractors we called. One never returned our call and the other padded the job adding another $200 that was not needed. Leith offered a great solution at a reasonable price. They were prompt and professional.
