Mr. Handyman of Wheaton-Hinsdale

They did a great job replacing and securing old drywall in our garage. They installed an electrical outlet which works perfectly but his suggestion, to make it easier, was to use BX which is not code in the area. Luckily I knew that because my parents would have gone with it unknowingly. I definitely wouldn’t hire them for carpentry work. We had a prehung front entry door put in and screen door reinstalled. We ended up having to have someone else come out and redo the job because they installed it so out of square that you could see daylight and the screen door wouldn’t close unless you pushed it with all your weight. They didn’t replace the interior trim or the piece of flooring they pulled out. They did a good job installing the peephole, mail slot and handle. Would recommend for small jobs but nothing too involved. Definitely not electric or carpentry.

Simon helped me with several outdoor projects. He also gave me some helpful advice for getting the best heavy duty exterior primer. I am totally satisfied with the work performed.

Amazing. So fast response time, same day quality work! Cesar did such a great job fixing and went above and beyond contacting the door company to make sure the door was taken off and put back in correctly with a better screen. Will use again for sure!! Thank you so much!

I gave a review earlier that rated the company a 7, somehow my explanation was not published. My only disappointment was the pricing since the work we contracted for was in my opinion quite a bit less in the long run. The quality of work was very good, the technician was polite and professional. My disappointment was since the job required less than originally estimated, I thought the final price would have taken this into consideration. I did leave a message to discuss this with Mr. Handyman (or so I thought). As it turns out they did call me after seeing my original post and it appears I left the message on the wrong phone #. My fault, not theirs. I would like to reiterate, I was very happy with the quality of work. For that reason, I give them an excellent rating.

We have had two amazing experiences with Mr. Handyman (of Wheaton-Hinsdale). We needed numerous pieces of art hung, side tables assembled, and a TV mounted. When we called to schedule our services, Logan was amazing on the phone. Both times, he actually called us back to get us on the calendar one day sooner!! They truly go above and beyond for customer service. Tom Kissee was our technician both times, and he is phenomenal. Clean, courteous, and prompt! Also a great guy to talk to. He's extremely knowledgeable and completes every task with extreme care. I will continue to recommend Tom and Mr. Handyman to everyone in our building, along with using them for future needs. Outstanding work and service!!!

I was looking to have some shower doors installed. They stated that there would be a fee to come out a measure to ensure the doors came out. The charge was $128 and the technician spent all of about 5 minutes and said yes they should fit. Also, the technician said that he was going to charge me, yet he needed to contact the office. And of course, the office said yes to charge me. I paid the charge, yet I thought is was very expensive for this work. I called Mr. Handyman and they said that is what they charge regardless of how much time the technician spends on the job. Next I got the estimate for installing the shower doors. When I got it, I feel off my chair, as the estimate was almost $200 higher than the max of what was given over the phone. Mr. Handyman, Logan, said it was a very difficult and meticulous installation. I said really, you drill 4 holes on each side to install the frame, you cut the top & bottom frames, use some caulk to install the bottom rail, and then hang the doors. This to me does not appear to very difficult for a company that does this for a living. I again called them and they proceeded to tell me that same thing about the difficult installation and that is what the technician said it would cost to install. I went to the manufacture's website to find some installers in the area. I found one and they were 1/2 cost and had a warranty to. So be careful using this company as they are priced out of the marketplace. I will never plan to use this company for any future projects. Regards, Mike

The issue has been resolved and I am giving them a 5 star rating. Jill was able to take care of this.

I was given a quick appointment for the following workday. That morning, I was notified that the handyman was enroute. He showed up in the middle of the time window promised and quickly sized up the situation. He quoted what I considered a fair price and got right to work. He climbed up the ladder, carefully re-positioned the gutter, and refastened it with screws until it was solidly back in correct position. I was relieved because high winds in the following days would have sheared the gutter completely off the building. All in all, the entire process was quick and smooth. No complaints.

My smoke detector started to sound its end of life beeping at 1:30 am Christmas Eve - continued off and on all night! Of course it was at the highest point of the house - about 18 feet in the air. Searched on line for someone open on a holiday who could come ASAP. Needless to say, John & Josh at Mr Handyman saved my sanity!

Handyman was late, carried his ladder through the house for an outside job, didn’t grasp the problem and the work required, and performed a poor job that will require repair. We were charged $90 for materials that consisted of a six foot piece of plastic weatherstripping and a tube of caulk.
