KOVANDA CONSTRUCTION

Kovanda Construction used Owens Corning shingles. After approximately10 years the roof caps began to fail by turning black and bubbling. I heard that some roofers used Certainteed Roofing where there was an industry recall for failure of the shingle. Tom Kovanda came out and told me that my roof was in good shape but my roof caps needed to be replaced due to failure but he assured me that the caps were not done with Certainteed shingles. Tom told me that he could come out and replace the caps for $750.00. I have sice learned from other roofers that inspected my roof that the caps were certainteed and that he probably used them do keep his cost down. At the time Tom told me that he did use different shingles for the caps because the roofing shingles he used would crack if bent. Two years after Tom Kovanda inspected my roof and told me I had approximately 10 years usage left on my roof, my roof has failed and I have major water and wind damage. The chimney flashing has also failed. I contacted Tom on several occasions this spring and he told me that due to the cold/inclement weather that he would come out in a few weeks to evaluate my roofing issues knowing that I had recently sustained wind/water/animal damage to my roof and walls. Tom Failed to come out or return my calls. I have since hired a mitigation team to take care of the massive damage to my roof/walls and flooring. I would not recommend Kovanda construction for any roofing or construction needs.

Tom basically wanted to have nothing to do with my problem. He said that after the proration of the passing of the last few years, it wouldn't be worth to replace the shingles. And that was it! Can you imagine? Now my neighbor, who also had his roof replaced by Kovanada about 13 years ago (on my recommendation), has found a major roof leak going on for many years. A reputable local roofer (Spandikow) took a look and said the valleys were poorly roofed, and that a complete re-roof is needed. So based on my and my neighbors experiences, I recommend to stay away from Kovanda Construction

A NIGHTMARE. THIS PERSON WORKED FOR ANOTHER CONTRACTOR I USED, AND CONVINCED ME TO HIRE HIM FOR OTHER PROJECTS. THIS GUY FAILED IN EVERY ASPECT OF EVERY PROJECT. THE FLOORS ARE UNEVEN, THE TILES LOOK HORRIBLE AND AREN'T IN ANY WAY ALIGNED. CABINETS THEY INSTALLED ARE VERY CHEAP, AND ALREADY PULLING FROM THE WALLS AND CROOKED. ORDERS MATERIALS THAT HE CAN'T USE, EXPECTING ME TO COVER THE COST. A CONTINUOUS SERIES OF EXCUSES FOR AN UNENDING RUN OF ERRORS AND POOR QUALITY WORK. INSTALLED A WINDOW I THOUGHT WAS STICKING, AND WHEN I APPLIED LIGHT FORCE, IT BROKE THE LOCK. INSTALLED A NEW KITCHEN SINK, WHICH DEVELOPED A LEAK WHICH ALLOWED US TO DISCOVER THAT HE HOOKED THE DISHWASHER TO THE COLD WATER LINE. BROKE THE SHUTOFF VALVE WHILE INSTALLING A TOILET, AND THEN LEFT IT THAT WAY.. JUST COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTING.
