The workers at Grant & Power are very good. They did quality work for me. Their prices were very reasonable. They were very professional and punctual. I would absolutely use them again.

My husband and I attended the home show at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles in early spring 2009. We visited the Grant & Power Landscaping exhibit and discussed with the representative the work we were looking to have done. I explained that we had an existing landscape design that we paid for last year and wanted to see if they could give us a quote to have it installed. The representative assured me that this would not be a problem, took down my contact information and said they would be in touch soon. A few weeks went by and I didn?t hear from them, so I decided to call. I re-explained to the representative that I needed a quote on an existing landscape design and he said that he would be happy to work with me. I faxed over the design and about 30 minutes later I received a return fax that said, ?Grant & Power only works with their own designs.? I continued to look on the fax machine for more information to follow and that was all they sent. Confused, I called back Grant & Power and asked what this note was all about. He said that Grant & Power really prefers to work with their own designs and also they are traditionally more expensive than most companies. He also said that customers who are looking to get several bids on a drawing are too difficult because they are not the cheapest. I then told the representative that I had never had been so insulted before. I said that I wasn?t necessarily looking for the cheapest landscaper and that there is nothing wrong with customers who shop around before they commit to spending several dollars on a project. I told him that the home show representative had the wrong information. I also told him I was angry that he would even waste my time (phone calls and faxing was done while I was at work) with having me fax over the drawing since he had no intention of working with a design that was not his in the first place. His response, ?well it doesn?t take much time to fax.? Extremely angry and shocked by this unprofessional comment, I told him that I would never work with his business again and that I would be sure to tell all my friends, family, strangers on the street, what a terrible experience I just had.

They are expensive. If they always had the same people come out we would be happier with them. It all depends on who they send out. We are going to keep using them. They do good work.

Great. We started working on the plans with Jan Boumann in late January and the work started in late April. It was a difficult year, because the landscaper was not able to see the yard without snow cover until mid-March. The workers were there every day for 2 weeks straight except Sunday. There was a lot of stone work, with the patio, grill island and seating wall, which took some time. We had to wait about two weeks after that for the top of the grill island to be cut and installed, and we were totally done by the end of May (although the yard was definitely usable by Memorial Day). It looked as good as the plans. It was amazing from coming home in late April to see absolutely nothing green in the entire back yard, to the way it looks today. The only complaint I have is that I didn't push hard enough when Jan indicated he would not advise a sprinkling system in a yard our size. It has been a dry summer.

They're reliable with their scheduling and the quality of their work.

BEN CAME OUT AND GAVE US A QUOTE. HE WAS HARD TO REACH. IT USUALLY TOOK TWO VOICE MAILS TO GET HIM TO CALL BACK. THE PRICING SEEMED A BIT HIGH, BUT WE WANTED A COMPANY WITH A STRONG REFERRAL (WHICH WE HAD FROM AN OLD NEIGHBOR). THE TWO MAN CREW WORKED HERE FOR TWO STRAIGHT DAYS (9 TO 10 HRS PER DAY). THEY WERE MATURE, PROFESSIONAL AND EASY TO COMMUNICATE WITH. I WALKED THROUGH AND EXPLAINED THE ENTIRE JOB AND THEY DIDN'T MISS A DETAIL.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB OVERALL, BUT THEIR WORK ON PART OF MY YARD WAS A LITTLE SLOPPY. WHEN I ASKED THEM TO FIX IT THE SALES REP SAID THAT IT WOULD BE AN EXTRA TRIP WITH AN EXTRA CHARGE. THEY ALSO REMOVED SOME PLANTS WHICH WE DIDN'T ASK THEM TO REMOVE AND THE SALES REP CLAIMED THESE PLANTS WERE DEAD (THEY WERE SUFFERING, BUT NOT DEAD). THIS INDIVIDUAL WAS PUSHY AND INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM, TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT IT DID NOT EXIST. AS A RESULT, I FIXED THE PROBLEMS MYSELF, BUT THIS HAS LEFT A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH AND AFTER $9000 WORTH OF BUSINESS THAT I GAVE THIS COMPANY OVER THE LAST YEAR, I WILL NO LONGER USE THEM.

KEVIN FITZGERALD WAS THE GUY WE WORKED WITH ON THIS AND THE OTHER $25K WORTH OF LANDSCAPING WE''VE PURCHASED FROM THEM IN THE PAST 24 MONTHS. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. LISTENS TO ALL IDEAS THAT THE CUSTOMER TABLES. SOMETIMES TOUGH TO GET A CALL BACK DURING BUSY SEASON, BUT THE WORK IS WORTH IT. PRICES ARE HIGHER IN COMPARISON TO SOME OTHER LANDSCAPERS, BUT THE QUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM IS WORTH IT.
