ACCURATE SAFETY SOLUTIONS - ACCURATE RADON

Our house flunked a Radon test so I called Accurate on recommendation of my neighbor. She was right. Rich came right out, we set up a date for the work, and he and Eric were on time and did a great job. I won't know for sure until we retest next month, but Rich assures me if the number isn't much lower he will stay on it until we get the number we want. I believe him. Great job.

Met with Rich in Sept 2012 to review radon mitigation options. I didn't get around to it until Jan 2013, but Rich was very honest and accepted the original quote. The entire process was very professional. We had options on where the pipes were going in the finished basement, which made the retrofit much easier. The entire crew was very professional. FYI - we brought our radon numbers down from around 6 to 1.2.

Rich walked us through his rationale for the way he installs systems and addressed long term safety and maintenance. Perfect for the long term homeowner who wants to ensure the safety of the family.

The inspection of our new home revealed high levels of radon (5.4) in the finished basement. We hired Rich to install a mitigation system. It's an intricate system with 3 collection points (2 in the unfinished part of the basement, and one in a crawl space). The suction is powered by an external fan and the gasses vent out the roof above our sunroom. Rich is very passionate about what he does and did a very thorough job explaining to me how the system works and the importance of regular testing to make sure it's effective. The initial post-mitigation testing showed a score of <.8. That is a dramatic reduction and we feel a lot more comfortable having our young children play in our family room now!

They did a great job. They are very thorough. They made sure the job was done well and double checked each step to make sure we were all still on the same page.

Absolutely great !! System is installed and running and radon levels were already reduced before Rich and his crew left. Don't waste your time with other radon remediation companies, call Rich Whisler.

Rich was great. He is very knowledgable about radon mitigation. When we called him, he came out and spent a good hour and a half w/ us educating us on radon, how mitigation systems work, and what type of system we would need. This was compared to two other competitors, who weren't even interested in coming out to look at our house before giving a quote. Finally one did show, but his knowledge on the topic wasn't nearly as impressive as Rich's. Rich looked at our basement, took measurements, looked at the radon report we had received when we bought the house, and gave a fair quote of $1200. We were able to schedule the work the following week. They were here for a half day, Eric, the installer and his assistant were top notch, explaining everything they were doing. In the end, they installed a great system for us, reducing our radon levels to under 2, from the original level of 4.5. The gutters and motor shroud outside look great, well secured, and inside the pipe was solidly installed. Eric and his assistant were great at cleaning up afterwards. A couple months later we had a short term test done and confirmed that our radon levels were still down, now to just barely over 1! Great job Rich!!! We look forward to seeing his guys annually for our annual check-up / maintenance visit.

All went well from start to finish. Rich was totally in charge and was very professional and knowledgeable. All three men knew exactly what they were doing. It was amazing all the work that had to be done and it was done in about 4 hours. Would not hesitate to recommend this company

I have to tell you this was one of the BEST experiences I had with a contractor for our house. The final cost was the estimate, which was very reasonable. Rich is knowledgeable and passionate about his work. He took a lot of time to explain everything to us and we felt comfortable with what we needed done. Rich and the two people he brought with to do the work were very nice and professional. The work was done perfectly. Everyone that came over to look at it could not believe all that work was done for the price we paid. I would highly recommend him, and gave his information to all our neighbors. I would not even consider anyone else.

Rich explained to me what a radon mitigation system was supposed to do, how he would go about it and his expected result. The system was installed neatly, professionally and when and as promised. My pre installation radon test results in the basement were 14.5, post installation the score was 0.9! I couldn't be happier with the results, the system or those that installed it!

I had been having issues with my sump pump and back-up system for the past 3-4 months. These were Basment Watchdog, and were installed by my handyman in 02/2011 (with a new back-up in 11/2011). I called up Accurate on Sunday morning (!) and was very surprised to hear Rich's voice rather than a recorded message. He spoke with me for 20-25 minutes. I sent him pictures of the existing system via 'phone, and he called back and described how the existing system needed to be updated. We set an appointment for Tuesday morning at 9:30. On Tuesday his guys came in, and within 4 hours had a new system installed. This included mounting a new bracket for the back-up battery, all the electrical work (including a new plug point) and a new cover for the sump pit. They even cleaned out the sump pit. I have now a maintenance-free battery. Rich was able to get that free for me (~$350), from Watchdog, since my previous system (4 to 12 months old, see above) had troubled me so much! The next day, Rich called me and went over everything. Basically I am on an annual plan, where once every 12 months I should contact Accurate to come out and check if everything is alright. This is a HUGE relief for me. My wife and I have already gone through a flooded basemnet once, and having Rich's very obvious experience behind work done in our home helps us sleep better at night. Totally recommended in every way!

Rich took the time to not only provide us with a quote, but educate us on what the system is designed to do. He did a great job of explaining why his design is superior to the typical radon system that is installed by a homeowner in order to sell their house. He also set expectations as to what we can and should not expect from the system. He provided clear instructions for what his team needed to make the installation a success. After our initial consultation we knew we had selected the best company for the job. Rich and his team spent the better part of a day installing our system. They worked quickly but took the time required to perform a top notch installation. They left the work area clean, and removed all trash. After installation, they spent time walking us through the system to introduce us to each of the components, and provided documentation for required routine maintenance. All key components are labeled and contact information is easily accessible in case of questions. After installation, we retested our radon levels, and they were below what Rich had indicated what his goal was for the system. We would not hesitate to use Accurate in the future, and will be sure to recommend their services to others.

We called Rich because he was the only one listed in the phone book. For that reason, we had planned to interview one or two other providers before making a decision. Once he completed his presentation, however, we realized he knew what he was doing and that he knew the substance and the science behind radon reduction very well. We also sensed that he was someone we could trust. At the first meeting, Rich took over two hours explaining everything that we needed to know about radon reduction, and he answered all of our questions well and completely. Once we went into the basement, he assessed the possible ways he could approach our house, which like many older homes has its design quirks, and he made a recommendation on how he thought it best to proceed. What impressed me the most was that, given the design of our house, we could have had suction points put in the west side of the basement, which would have cost about an extra $1000, or just wait and see how the system worked with the two suction points near the center of the basement and the one in the southeast corner. Rich suggested, to his credit, that we go with the lesser option first, then determine how much the radon levels drop, and then decide whether extending the system was necessary. In other words, he was thinking about keeping our costs to a minimum rather than thinking about ways to maximize his revenue. Also, Rich locked in his price in writing for the extra work, if it would be necessary, so that we would know how much we would be spending. On installation day, Rich and his assistants were punctual, got started right away, and finished at about the time he estimated they would finish (perhaps even a bit earlier than that). I observed them working throughout the day and they all clearly know what they are doing, work well together, and they took every opportunity to install the system in a way that would make it less visible since we have a finished basement. We now have only one length of PVC pipe to conceal, as well as a small amount of drywall repair. They cleaned up completely after they finished working. Then, Rich took about 30 minutes to explain the system, how to operate it, and how to run the radon tests (short and long term) to check its performance. However, since I already owned my own Safety Siren radon detector, I can report that our levels went from the high 5's to 0.5, a very good result. So, it is with pleasure that I highly recommend Rich and Accurate Radon to anyone who may need this type of service.

Very well... no issues since. Rich spends a lot of time explaining things and gives advice about home issues not directly related to the task. Rich went out of his way to call me a few days later about my plans to finish the basement. He asked around about it and then advised me not to do it because of my water issues.

I like them. He used a fan to resolve an issue right away. I was pleased with his service.

Rich was great. Came out right away and gave a super detailed presentation on what he would install to lower our home's radon levels. His initial recommendations were to install a two port system using 3 inch PVC but after our discussion and a bit more thought I requested he up-size his PVC to 4 inch (quieter and allows more radon to be eliminated) but do a single port system to reduce the amount of pipe in my basement. He was accommodating and the install occurred in a single day as scheduled. Rich and his workers were very professional and did a great job and the proof was in the testing, their system lowered our home's radon level from 5.2 (above the goverment recommend level of 4 or less) to a 0.5 after only a few hours of being on.

We were really, really, really happy. They were incredibly great. They were superb. We'd had many, many estimates and it wasn't just the money, but it was what we really wanted done in the most professional way and the way that was right. This guy was right on the mark with everything. He was really reasonable. The system is very detailed. I don't know all the details, but my husband does. The radon system is superb. Out of all the people that we had had this guy did it the best. He offered the best job and actually at a really good price. I would highly recommend him over and over and over again. His price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were the best.

Rich Whaler was very thorough in his assignment of the need as well as making sure the system was installed in areas to cause the least amount of disruption.

He came in and installed the fan outside and system inside that takes the radon out of the house.

Rich was here on schedule and completed the job in 1 day which included the mitigation system with electricity that he ran along with a sump pump replacement.

I called Rich when I learned of the failed radon test. He responded promptly and explained how the installed system would function and recommended where to place the piping both inside and outside the house. He offered exterior ducting that would coordinate with our grey siding. Instead I elected to run the ducting right next to the white downspout so it looks like part of the rain gutter system. Rich, Eric and Steve arrived at the appointed time on installation day and got right to work. They drilled a hole in the basement floor, ran the piping, installed the blower motor and arranged the exterior ducting so it exhausted above the roof line. It didn't impact the house's appearance at all. When they removed the old pipe which originated in the sump basin, they discovered the sump pump was no longer working. Instead of charging me for a new pump, they told me the non-working pump had a lifetime warranty and I should take it to Home Depot to exchange it for a new one. I did so and it did not cost me a dime. All three men were great to work with and they left everything in order. Rich did a final walkthrough to insure all was well. I am extremely well satisfied with Accurate Radon's service.

The two gentlemen who came out to install the system were thorough, professional and finished the job neatly. The install was performed as described by our initial visit with Rich. No surprises. We are very pleased with the work they completed. We were so pleased with them that we will be using them at our new home for radon maintenance.
